“Well, I’m sure it can’t be too hard to teach you,” Erikos assured him. He reached up, hugging the shark before letting go. The shark seemed confused at first, and it looked around for a minute before finding Erikos. It began to follow him as he swam over to Daus
"What do I do first..?" Daus asked, glancing down at himself confusedly before he looked back up towards Erikos and the shark that followed close behind him. He knew how to swim enough so that he wouldn't drown, but if he got to learn from Erikos, that would be a lot better.
“Well, we should probably start back on land,” Erikos said, frowning in thought. The shark seemed not to want them to leave, even going to nuzzle Erikos’ hand
"We can stay here if Fins wants you to," Daus answered, chuckling lightly as the shark nuzzled into Erikos' hand. It was a bit amazing that an animal had taken a liking in Erikos so quickly, though that must be easy with their charismatic personality.
"I think Fins wants me to stick around, so I guess we could just do it underwater," Erikos said with a shrug. He used the coral to find a relatively clear space, where there were few creatures save for Fins and a few stray fish. Using the coral he lodged his feet beneath the rocks, just so that he was in a sort of "standing" position
"This should be fun," Daus mumbled, chuckling a bit as he used the coral to push himself over towards the clearer space. Unlike Erikos, he let himself float up on his back, attempting to catch a fish or two lazily.
"Okay, so you kinda just…windmill your arms, really. But you have to make scoops with your hands while you do it, like this," Erikos said, taking a moment to demonstrate while Fins nudged his back in confusion
"Like…how exactly?" Daus asked, a confused look on his face as he watched Erikos before lifting his own arms in the air. He probably looked like a complete dork, but hey, at least he was going to learn how to swim properly.
"Like…Like this," Erikos said, slowing his motions down a bit so Daus could see better. "It's really easy once you get the hang of it. You just gotta put one arm in front of the other."
"I bet I look like a complete dork right now," Daus mumbled, frowning faintly in concentration as he attempted to move his arms like Erikos. After a few moments of practicing, he managed to get a close copy of what the other had shown him. "I actually kind of did it," he said almost excitedly, a bright grin crossing his face as he looked towards Erikos.
"There you go!" Erikos exclaimed, grinning happily while Fins did a few happy turns in the water. "Now try it a little faster, like this," he said, doing the same thing but a bit quicker now
Daus nodded, repeating the same strokes at a faster pace after he watched Erikos for a few moments. After completing a few small laps, he swam back towards Erikos, a bright grin tugging the corners of his lips up.
"Ay, you've got it!" Erikos exclaimed, beaming proudly as he watched Daus swim around. "You've probably got a lot of practice to do before you can swim around faster, but hey, you've got the basics."
"Thanks, Erikos," Daus answered as he attempted to do a slow, underwater cartwheel, though he gave up halfway and decided to float instead. "How long have we been here for?" He asked, glancing up towards the surface.
"Good question," Erikos said, shrugging as he held onto Fin's top fin. "A couple hours, at least. Time has a funny way of changing when you're around the water."
Daus nodded, stretching a bit as he watched Erikos continue to hang onto the shark's fins. "Should we head up soon?" He asked, part of him concerned that Vien or Erikos' dad didn't know where they went, but part of him also just wanted to stay with the other.
"Maybe. It's almost lunchtime, and Vien is probably going to kill us if he makes food and we're not there to eat it," Erikos said with a small chuckle. "Dad's gone until sundown today, so we've pretty much got nothing important to do."
"Your dad's a fisherman, right? That must explain your familiar, the Morgan Freeman fishing rod," Daus joked, recalling their conversation yesterday about Vien's familiar, which led to an odd one about Erikos' fishing pole.
Erikos rolled his eyes with a laugh. "You're such a weirdo. But yeah, dad's a fisherman and a merchant. There's a little town on an island about ten miles out from here, and he trades and sells out there."
"I'm probably the dorkiest god that you're ever going to meet, Erikos," Daus pointed out, chuckling a bit as he almost managed to catch a smaller, colorful fish. He nodded in thought at Erikos' next comment, trying to imagine the small town that his father traded in.
"Yes you are," Erikos said with a small laugh. He swam over to Daus, noticing he had caught a fish. "Ooh, can I see?" he asked while Fins swam over to them lazily
Daus opened the palm of his hand a bit, making sure to hold the fish with his other hand in a way that wouldn't harm the animal. It was colored in quite a nice shade of blended orange and yellow, with white dots lining its sides. "We should name it…Spot," he said, glancing up towards Erikos from the fish as he motioned towards the dots.
Erikos nodded, grinning widely. "I love it," he said, Fins seemed to like it too, and she went to nudge Daus' hand as if to be able to see the fish better as well
Daus opened his hand up wider, letting Fins take a look at it as he returned Erikos' grin with one of his own smaller ones. "Spot and Fins. The ultimate, dynamic duo," he joked, laughing a bit as he continued to watch the shark study the fish.
"Yep," Erikos said with a laugh of his own. Fins nudged a little closer to the fish, nearly sticking its nose inbetween Daus' hands. "Aw, I think Fins likes Spot."
