(lol don't worry I've been doing that to like half my rps lately)
Mikah bounded over to them, small tufts of horn-like flames flicking in and out of existence as he bounded over to Kaz and Vaughn. "Monsieur, uncle Cas says I can help you get the grill out to the balcony!" he said excitedly, Kaz laughing as he bounded over to the grill. Mikah took a deep breath, and suddenly his body was engulfed in flames. He almost doubled in size, and he picked the grill up before bounding outside to set it on the balcony. Kaz laughed as he watched him, shaking his head a little. Mikah returned to normal as he skipped back inside, waving a hurried goodbye before leaving through the front door
Vaughn watched this all with shocked, wide eyes. He would have gladly offered to move the grill out into the balcony. But he was confused as to how that tiny boy suddenly shifted into something much larger. He blinked a few times after the boy had left, turing back to Kaz. “Can you get taller like that?” He asked, deciding it would be a funny thing to mention considering they had just been debating on height.
"Ha ha, very funny," Kaz drawled, rolling his eyes as he slid off the counter. "Now, do you want to help make dinner or not?" he asked as he walked over to the fridge, beginning to pull out stuff for hamburgers. It was one of the few things he could actually make without burning it every time, so he figured it would be an alright thing to cook for their first dinner living together
Vaughn chuckled softly and nodded his head a tad, stuffing his hands into his pockets. “Yeah, I'm going to help, don’t worry,” He hummed with a smile. He stepped out onto the porch, taking a moment to lean against the railing as he checked out the nice view.
"Okay, sweetie," Kaz called after him, snickering at the nickname. He pulled out the hamburger meat, deciding he would cook and let Vaughn take care of the other stuff. He began to season the meat, setting each burger on a plate before making his way towards the grill
Would you live if you jumped? Vaughn’s mind suddenly spoke up, causing his hands to clench a bit tighter onto the railing. He let go after a moment, stepping back over to Kaz. “What do you want me to help with, baby?”
“Cutting up lettuce and tomatoes and stuff would be great,” Kaz said, gesturing in the general direction of the kitchen as he set his plate down. He turned the grill on, beginning to hum as he set the burgers on it
“Right, okay,” Vaughn said with a nod. He paused for a moment, arms slipping around Kaz’s waist for a moment to give him a squeeze while kissing the side of his head. He let go and stepped back inside, walking over to the kitchen to do wha the had been told.
Kaz smiled at the affection, tapping his foot along with his humming as he waited for the burgers to cook. Before long his humming had turned to quiet singing, dancing in place a little as he moved
Vaughn picked up a knife, checking over the sharpness and size of the blade. He hummed after looking at it, setting a cutting board onto the counter with the ingredients. He began cutting the tomatoes first, careful not to cut his fingers or hand.
Kaz flipped the burgers as he swayed in place, his singing growing loud enough to be faintly heard from inside
Vaughn was continuing to chop up the food when he heard what sounded like singing. His brows furrowed in confusion as he looked up and around the room, it taking him a moment to realize that it was Kaz who was singing. He smiled to himself, chuckling softly as he listened to Kaz’s singing, humming along softly to whatever song he was singing.
Kaz twirled in place a little, singing into his spatula for a minute as he grew a little louder. He turned to flip the burgers, beginning to take the cooked ones off the grill
Vaughn eventually finished shopping the food. He set the things aside in a plate to put onto the burgers later. He stepped closer to the door, leaning against the wall next to it. His smile grew to one of admiration for that side of Kaz, one that he didn’t see too often.
Kaz finished with the burgers, still singing as he turned to find Vaughn leaning against the wall. He felt his face heat up a little in embarrassment, standing there for a minute as he spluttered and struggled for words
“Why’d you stop?” Vaughn asked with the same smile, his brows raised now as he looked down at Kaz. It was a bit funny- how unknowing Kaz was about how loud he had been. And it was precious too- seeing how flustered it made Kaz to know that he had been listening in on him.
“I…” Kaz began, shrinking embarrassingly into the hood of his sweatshirt as he stood there. “I’m really bad at singing,” he eventually mumbled, his voice barely above a whisper in his embarrassment
“You aren’t bad, it was really nice,” Vaughn assured gently. He stepped closer to Kaz, hands slipping loosely around his waist and tugging him closer. “I like your singing voice,” he continued with a soft smile.
Kaz gave Vaughn a lopsided smile that was so ridiculous it was adorable. “Really?” He asked softly, careful not to accidentally drop the burgers as Vaughn pulled him close
Vaughn’s smile grew a tad as he nodded quickly. He took the burgers from Kaz, setting them aside on the counter. “Yes, really. I love it, it’s calming to me,” He answered, beginning to rub gentle circles on Kaz’s hips with his finger tips.
"It's especially popular with alternative pop," Lana surmised aloud, "like Halsey, Lana del Rey, Lorde, etc."
Thorn thought for a second. She recognized the names, "Yeah. I like Halsey."
“I might have to find my old guitar some time. I used to be backup vocals in a band in high school,” Kaz mused, smiling at Vaughn’s touch. He tilted his head up a little to press a kiss to the other’s forehead
"Halsey is…interesting." Lana made a face. "Watch, I'll be Halsey." She took a deep breath, before singing in a breathy, shallow voice, "I want to run away with you. To a motel. And smoke cigarettes! Blueeee."
Thorn laughed at Lana's imitation, "Sounds spot on."
“Really? I don’t think you ever told me that,” Vaughn hummed with a delighted smile. He gave Kaz’s waist a quick squeeze, tilting his head down to kiss gently at Kaz’s cheekbone for a moment. “But I’d love to hear you play, I’m sure that you are amazing.”
