Then Mozos stumbled on to the scene, and pointed a finger warily at Krystal. "You..*pants.. run very… *pants… fast. And that, *deep breath * was super cool."
Then Mozos stumbled on to the scene, and pointed a finger warily at Krystal. "You..*pants.. run very… *pants… fast. And that, *deep breath * was super cool."
Harry looked at everyone. "This is weird." he muttered.
"I don't even know what's going on, anymore," Scarlet said, her voice shaking and eyes wide.
she looked at the three people gathered around her and sighed deeply. Well, so much for staying out of human problems.
"Come on, I know where we can get answers. Follow me," she said, striding deeper into the forest.
Scarlet followed Krystal deep into the forest. After a few minutes, the trees started to grow closer together and their bark became a darker shade of brown, becoming almost black. The normal sounds of the forest slowly disappeared, being replaced with a silence that was broken only by the footsteps and breathing of the group.
Mozos followed silently, he wanted to see where she would lead them. Plus the head chef probably looted his room as soon as he left.
They began to approach a small clearing in the woods, but Krystal stopped before they entered.
"Before we go any further, you must all swear on your lives to never speak of this place or what you will see there," she said, looking at each of them in turn, "Do you swear?"
Scarlet blink a few times in surprise before answering, "Uh, yeah. Yeah, I swear."
"Yeah, sure I swear but uh, what is this place?" Mozos said trying to eye the clearing.
"This is my home," she replied simply as she led them into the clearing
In the center of the clearing, there were two huge trees with silver-ish bark whose branches intertwined to form a sort of canopy. underneath the trees, there was a round, clear pool. There were small, multicolored twinkling lights floating among the branches and in one of the trees, there was a hammock. Under the other tree, there was a very old looking chest and small pile colored stones.
She turned to face them and spread her arms out, "So, what do you think?" she asked with a smile
"Wow," breathed Scarlet as she walked into the clearing. "It's beautiful!"
Krystal smiled, "thank you! Now, on to what we came here for."
She walked over to the pool and knelt down, gesturing for them to join her.
Scarlet knelt down beside Krystal in front of the pool, which sparkled from the many, multicolored lights above. She looked in, expecting to see fish and other water creatures, but it was surprisingly empty.
"What is this?" she asked, looking at Krystal.
"This is an Astéri pool," she replied gesturing at the silvery water. "My people believe that when you die, your soul becomes a star, so all of our ancestors are stars and from the heavens, they can see what occurs below. Star pools can share the knowledge of the heavens to show us other people, places, and events."
She stood up and went to the chest underneath one of the trees and rummaged around inside of it. while she was searching she said, "In this case, we are going to use it to take a peek at your past."
Scarlet's eyes flashed with an odd look and she said, "I- uh- I don't know if that's really necessary."
"Don't worry, we won't see your entire past" Krystal said, seeing the look on Scarlet's face, "we can narrow it down to just anytime you've come in contact with another magical being. And if it made you feel any better, I could show you some of my own past, too."
"Um, okay," conceded Scarlet, fidgeting with the grass beside her. "I supposed that's fine."
"What would you like to see first, yours or mine?" Krystal asked gently.
Flashing a quick smile to the girl at her left, Scarlet replied, "Um, yours, if that's okay."
" That's a pretty powerful pool." Mozos remarked, " Umm, does it show all magical beings or just ones you want?"
"Whichever you require," Krystal replied, noting his slightly worried tone, then returned to the pool, "Now let me show you how it works."
Krystal drew one of her daggers, "Sorry if this seems strange, you can back out at any time, Scarlet."
She then drew the blade across her palm, making a shallow cut, she held her hand over the water and let a few drops of blood fall into the water.
"show me a happy day," she murmured. The water shimmered and the reflection filling it changed.
/A young Krystal ran through the forest, laughing as an older boy with golden brown hair, smiling eyes, and large brown feathered wings chased her through the trees.
“I’m gonna get you Krysa!” he said, laughing along with her.
Krystal laughed and grabbed a branch, swinging up into a tree and leaping from branch to branch.
“Can’t catch me now, Sol!” she cried happily, going higher and higher.
“Oh yeah?” he replied before jumping up into the trees himself. He caught up with her quickly and grabbed her from behind, tickling her.
“Told you I’d always find you, sis,” he laughed as she squirmed away.
She huffed, “someday I’ll have wings, too, then I’ll be faster than you.”
“We’ll see about that,” He chuckled./
The vision ended and Krystal sat back, her eyes wet.
Harry looked around, and went to stand by Scarlet. He hadn't said word, he only nodded when Krystal asked him to swear he wouldn't tell anyone.
"Okay… So, do I have to do the cutting thing?" Scarlet asked worriedly.
Harry scratched his index finger. "You had a brother?" he asked under his breath, but only he could hear it.
