Good, she didn't notice, Scarlet thought as they continued walking.
"Scarlet. Scarlet Snow. Yours?" she asked, sticking her hand out.

She shook Scarlet's hand. Stars, the girl had a good grip.
"Krystal Forest," she replied with a grin.
A bit later, they arrived at the Dusty Swan

Oh my gosh, you are! And he sounds great!
Opening the door, the two girls were greeted by a tall man with dark skin. He flashed them a dazzling smile and cheerfully greeted them, "Hello, ladies! Welcome to the Dusty Swan! What can I help you with today?"
"Hi. Uh, a booth, please. Somewhere more hidden, preferably," suggested Scarlet, discretely slipping him a small, jewel-encrusted ring.
The waiter's eyes lit up at the sight of the expensive item being passed to him. He looked around, then took it with a wink. "Of course, ma'am. Right this way."
When the two girls ignore him, he sighs and begins to ask around other people. ( BTW the two girls weren't you guy's characters )

Having just been seated, Scarlet looks over the small menu sitting in front of her. Out of the corner of her eye, she sees a young man headed their way.
"Excuse me but have either one of you seen a hound dog?" he asks, his eyes pleading for them to say yes.
Scarlet risked a quick glance up at the man asking the question.
Gosh, he's kinda hot, she thought. Stop it, Scarlet! You don't even know him!
Shaking her head to clear her rivaling thoughts, she said, "No, sorry. I haven't seen any dogs."
Krystal looked up from her own menu and saw the look on Scarlet's face. She rolled her eyes.
"I heard a bark from the alley earlier, maybe that's your dog" she looked back down.
Scarlet tried to ignore the young man and focus on her menu.
Beef stew. Ale-roasted chicken. Breaded chicken. Catch of the day. The Daily Special.
Hm, I wonder what today's special is? she thought, looking for a waiter.
A waitress came to their table got their orders, and went back to the kitchen and the strange boy wandered off to find his dog. Once they were both gone, Krystal turned back to Scarlet.
"So, Scarlet, what's your story?" Krystal asked, resting her chin on her fist.
After making sure that nobody was listening, Scarlet told Krystal her story:
Her parents died when she was ten, so, since there was no one else to care for her, she was left homeless and an orphan. Most days, she would wander the streets, begging for food. When she was approached one day by an elderly-looking man offering her food and a place to sleep, she jumped at the offer. He took her to a small camp filled with dancing and smiling people. A haven for the lost, he had called it.
Scarlet was soon taught how to steal and stash things away as discretely as possible. When she became good enough at it, the camp leaders let her go into town with a chaperone. She quickly grew into one of the best thieves they had, though she would never admit it. Now, seven years later, she provided most of the "income" for the band of thieves.
"And that's how I became a Sapphire," Scarlet said, ending her story.
( I forgot, he is also a talented chef)
Mozos listened to them with interest. The girls story was fun to listen to because a lot of the people were regulars, and he had already heard them all. He listened as she finished it and looked down at the orders he had to make. The head chef would get mad if he didn't finish making the food quickly.
(sorry, I'm back)
Krystal hummed thoughtfully as she contemplated Scarlet's story. It wasn't too different from her own. Lost and alone. Reliant on her skills to keep herself alive.
"Have you ever thought of leaving the Sapphires?" she asked.
Scarlet's head snapped up from her food. "Leave the Sapphire Bandits?!? Are you crazy?" she exclaimed fearfully.
"Maybe I am," she shrugged and picked up some bread, "Would it really be that hard to leave?"
With a shudder, Scarlet replied, "Yes, it would. They'd kill me. I know too much about them for them to let me go."
A memory suddenly flashed, uninvited, through Scarlet's mind…
"You think you can just leave us?" shouted a tall, heavily-built man in a torn tunic.
"I think I should be able to leave when I want to," retorted an older man with graying hair. It's the same man that brought Scarlet to the Sapphires.
The younger man, clearly a leader, chuckled darkly. "Ok, then go. Leave us. And don't expect to be allowed back."
"Samuel, no!" yelled Scarlet, tears running down her face.
The older man looked at her and his steely gaze softened. Scarlet had been like a daughter to him, and he had been like a father to her. "I have to, Scarlet. I don't belong here anymore."
He left, and the next time Scarlet saw him was a few days later, in the woods. He was lying face-down in the mud, not breathing. Scarlet had cried for days afterward.
Mozos walked to their table at a steady pace. " Here are you're meals, I hope everything is to your liking." he exclaimed, putting their food in front of their respective owners. "Good luck with you Sapphire problems."He said and started back towards the kitchen.
Harry sat down on a bench and kicked a rock. "Stupid innkeeper." he muttered.
Scarlet's eyes widened as the waiter set down their food and mentioned the Sapphires. She quickly stood up and grabbed a fistful of his sleeve.
"What did you hear?" she demanded.
