Betty brought her hand deeper in the water and something happened.Betty's eye color turned a white color. She was having a vision of the past. She saw all her brothers at the lake she was about 5 one of her brothers had snuck up behind her startling her making her fall in the lake. She couldn't swim. so her brother Brady dove in the lake and saved her life then scolding her brother. Betty removed her hand and a tear rolled down her cheek.
Lysander jolted upright as soon as his mind realized who that last scream belonged to. He swore he could hear Charles mocking laugh echo in his ears. After taking a few minutes to calm down and let the strange new ache in his chest dissipate, he realized that it wasn't even noon yet. He groaned in annoyed disappointment, he was never up this early but there was no way he would be able to fall back asleep. This is going to be a long day.
There's absolustley no way I could fall for a vampire. . . Is there? She didn't want to fall in love. but she couldn't deny that she was attracted to him that she felt safe with him . There's no way he feels the same . . .Right?
I would never do that to her. I know it shouldn't bother me this much with how many times I've had to since… Why should I even care what she thinks about a damned bloodsucker like me? Lysander sighed, running his hand thru his hair as he walked into the kitchen. It was honestly one of the least used rooms in the whole house considering his hunger would never be sated by those means. But drinks still affected him and right now he needed coffee. She’ll never like me, she's just being polite. Besides, she's a mortal human… Lucky girl.
Betty took a deep breath and headed back to the house.
Lysander was staring at the coffee maker as if he could will it to be faster. He knew it was pointless, even if he was the most powerful vampire around he wouldn't be able to control time. Nothing could. And by vampiric standards, he was on the weaker side mostly because he was still considered young.
Betty walked inside the house and quietly shut the doors.
Lysander heard both, the sound of the door closing and Betty's heartbeat as soon as she walked in. A part of him had expected her to never return. Why would she? He may be able to control himself right now, but it wouldn't last forever. He recognized the fact that his thirst would come back and if he wasn't careful… He could snap. He was a monster. He sighed as he poured two cups of coffee.
Betty touched her face realizing she had a scratch probally from the visions they weakened her.
Lysander followed the only heartbeat in the house, carrying the coffee to where Betty was. He remembered she said she was a morning person but he wanted to be polite and at least offer it. Being used to moving silently he made sure this time he made enough noise to not startle her, just enough she knew where he was. ”Good morning, Betty.”
Betty turned her head to face him. "Good morning Lysander " she said.
Lysander frowned slightly as he saw the scratch on her face. He didn't smell blood from it but the sight still disturbed him. ”You’re hurt. What happened?” his voice gained a slight growl as he stepped closer.
Betty put her hand over her cheek. "I'm fine don't worry" she said.
Lysander put down the cups and took her hand away from the scratch. He knew he was overreacting but… After his nightmare, seeing that red mark, ”Did someone attack you?” he asked lowly, his eyes darkening.
She shook her head" No" she put a hand on his cheek "i'm fine".
Lysander closed his eyes let himself relax into her touch, gently placing his hand against hers. ”I apologize. It's just I… have many enemies and if any of them found out that you were in my care…” he explained. It’s better not to think about it.
"i'm fine" she said " A tree limb scratched me" she said.
Lysander bit back a chuckle. ”You don't have to lie to me. I believe you that you were not attacked and that you are fine but I know that whatever happened wasn't caused by a tree branch.” he pulled back, opening his eyes. ”If you don't want to tell me, I'm alright with that. You can tell me when it's none of my business as long as you are alright.”
She grabbed his hand "I'm alright" she said.
“Good.” He almost smiled. ”I made some coffee if you're interested.” he added awkwardly after a few moments.
she let go of his hand "Please".
He nodded and handed her one of the two now cooler cups. ”It should still be warm.”
she nodded and took a sip.
”I hope you like it black. I'm afraid I don't have any milk or creamer at the moment.” Lysander explained awkwardly. If she's going to stay here a while I should get some food for her to keep around.
