Rose double check his appearance in the mirror as he ran a comb through his messy hair, doing his best to tame the wild strands. He eventually gave up on that. He slipped on his cleaner sneakers and grabbed his wallet from the counter before leaving his apartment and heading to the café.
A few minutes later, Cade arrived, and half of the water gallon was already gone. He looked around nervously for Rose.
(Gtg to bed now, see ya tomorrow!)
(Seeyah!)
Rose eventually arrived, looking around for Cade when he stepped in. He eventually spotted the man and walked over, hands stuffing themselves into the front pockets of his fitting jeans. “Hey,” he greeted with a slight smile.
Cade saw him and gave a small wave, smiling back. "Hi," he said. "Where's the mural?"
“It’s over here,” Rose said, motioning for him to follow as he walked to a back wall. There was a sheet hanging up, something the manager had put up so Ross cud work without distraction. He nudged the curtain aside and motioned to the partially painted wall of what seemed to be part of a forest. “That’s all I have done so far..”
Cade stared at it in awe, blinking a couple of times before turning back to Rose. "It's beautiful so far. Where did you learn to paint like that?"
“I’m sort of self taught. I’ve had a lot of time to learn,” Rose said, laughing timidly. A few centuries of learning could do wonders. “And thank you.”
"Really? I'm pretty old, and I can't even come close to making something like that, no matter how much I practice."
Rose arched a light colored brow question. “How old are you, exactly?” He asked, looking over at Cade.
He rubbed the back of his neck. "Oh, um, 22? Not that old, now that I think about it…" His mouth was getting very dry.
Rose giggled softly and nodded. “Yeah, you’re still young. I thi- I am 20,” he quickly corrected. That was just an estimate. He looked a bit young for how old he was in demon years.
Cade raised his eyebrows. "You think?"
“I didn’t mean to say that, I’m 20,” Rose said quickly, cheeks beginning to get red as the back of his neck heated up. Please don’t tell me I already messed up…
Cade frowned. Was Rose lying about his age? I guess I can't really say anything about it though, since I'm lying too, he thought. Cade smiled at him. "Just stumbled on your words?"
“Yeah, you’re a bit intimidating,” Rose said, rubbing at the back of his neck as he glanced towards the mural.
"Intimidating?" He asked, his smile falling. Was he really scaring Rose? Was it because he was a demon?
“No, don’t worry!” Rose said quickly, a slight stammer in his tone. “I just get intimidated easily by, er- attractive people.” His cheeks tinted a shade or two darker after adding in the last part, and he wondered why he had felt the need to add that.
"Y-you think I'm attractive?" Cade stammered. He could feel his face heating up.
“Mhm,” Rose hummed, nodding his head. He didn’t even try to answer that question with words, fearing it would sound squeaky or hoarse.
Rose paused for a moment, not sure what to say. "Well, I think you're very attractive, too."
Rose considered it impossible that his face could feel anymore heated. He was sure that his cheeks wer teh same tint as his red eyes. “Thank you,” he squeaked in a faint tone.
Cade scratched the back of his neck. "Y-youre welcome…"
After a moment of tense silence, Rose spoke up again. “Should we get going to go get the food?”
"Yeah, that's be great," Cade said, laughing nervously.
Rose smiled a bit and stepped out from behind the curtain, walking towards the door.
