Nyx let out a breath, opening his eyes again. "It's okay now." he said softly. He still wasn't back to complete normal, but it was enough that he could keep moving again. He looked up at Jude, taking a deep breath again.
Nyx let out a breath, opening his eyes again. "It's okay now." he said softly. He still wasn't back to complete normal, but it was enough that he could keep moving again. He looked up at Jude, taking a deep breath again.
"Okay, that's good," Jude sighed quietly, that's good. He shook his head, reminding himself to look into how they could prevent that in the future, "You're okay to walk?"
Nyx blinked, then nodded slowly. "Good to walk." he agreed softly. He was standing on his own again, adjusting the sleeves of the shirt.
"Okay.." Jude smiled softly turning back to the hall they were going down, keeping his eyes on Nyx as if he might collapse at any moment. You're being overdramatic. They turned the corner, entering an enormous and open room of statues and sculptures from all over the world.
Nyx stared around the room, looking at the statues in wonder. He glanced at Jude for a moment, then kept looking around the room.
"Hmm–" Jude pointed at a broken statue, a woman's body with no limbs or head. "That's supposed to be Aphrodite– fixing her hair," He smiled, burying his hands in his pockets.
Nyx raised an eyebrow. "Fixing her hair…with what hands?" he replied with a laugh. "And…what head?" he chuckled softly, looking at the statue.
"No.." Jude chuckled, "It was supposed to be that while it was still intact–" He shook his head, smiling and looking at it sideways, "…You wanna know people find it to be so beautiful?"
Nyx chuckled a little. He cocked his head at Jude. "Why?" he asked curiously, looking at Jude, then at the statue again.
"Because…" Jude spoke slowly, smiling, "Even after all these years– God, hundreds of years, you can still see–" He gestured, moving his hands the same way her body was curved, "You can still see the way her body is twisted, crouching, I think– still in the same pose, even though so much of her is gone, she's still doing whatever it is she's doing. Still beautiful."
Nyx examined the statue carefully. He nodded slowly. "Huh. Yeah, I…I can see that." he said slowly, looking at Jude, then at the statue again. He took a deep breath.
"Well–" Jude shrugged, "That's just what I was told, anyway–" He smiled, turning to face the rest of the room, dotted with tourists and guides, "Anything catch your eye? What should we steal tonight?"
Nyx laughed at Jude's second question, looking at the other male with a twinkle in his blue eyes. "Hm. How about all of it? How much could we sell it for? Or were you planning on keeping it?" he asked, smiling and laughing a little.
"This? In my apartment? Not a chance," He smiled, "Maybe we could fit some of it in the lab– for the time being, and then a few paintings at my place…" Jude shook his head, wincing comically, "Don't think we could fit all of it. And besides–" He smiled, looking down shyly, "Where would we put all our art?"
Nyx laughed, then smiled at Jude. "Our art?" he echoed, smiling a little shyly at the other male. "I…I don't know." he admitted, biting his lower lip for a moment.
"Y- Yeah." Jude shook his head, realizing how it might've sounded to him, "I mean…yeah. We need space for when we paint stuff. My place is already so damn crowded." He breathed, telling himself to stop using plurals, because there would be no 'we'. There couldn't be. "I got a few friends on the black market– they could give us a good price." He chuckled, only half-joking.
(I gtg to bed now. Good night!)
Nyx smiled a little bit. "Ah, right." he replied, laughing. "I see. Well, I look forward to our future endeavors in art, whatsoever they may be." he said, grinning.
(okey i havent even had dinner yet lol ~goodnight)
"Future endeavours?" Jude repeated, testing the words out for himself, "I like that, yeah." He smiled, uncapping a sharpie from his pocket and writing it down on his hand. "–That could be a title for the thing I'm writing."
(lmao)
Nyx tipped his head a little. He nodded and smiled. "Well. Glad to help you out." He replied with a soft laugh, looking around the museum again, examining everything.
"Hm," Jude smiled, "So, what's been your favourite thing, so far?" He asked, admiring an Archaic statue of a frog, "I mean– there still so much to see, but what's the best thing I've shown you?"
Nyx shrugged a little bit. "Probably the paintings." he replied. At least for today. But overall…the day in the field. When… He didn't let himself finish that thought. It wouldn't lead to anything good if he did.
"The paintings? Here?" He smiled broadly, glad that he was actually making him happy and not just dragging him around town. "That's good, I'm glad you're enjoying this." Jude said, wishing he could show him so much more, catching the way he'd smile at all the art and things they passed.
Nyx nodded a little bit. "Yeah." He said with a quick smile, still looking around at the art. But damn, he would have traded it just to be able to kiss Jude without it being bad for the other male. Just to be able to have that was all he wanted.
"Yeah," Jude repeated, smiling softly and looking at the ground. He never used to be like this; shy and flustered. It was strange, how in the presence of the least judgemental person on the planet, Jude felt the need to say all the right things. He always knew what to say, whether it was a sarcastic note or a spill of information. But when it came to how he felt about Nyx– it'd left him wordless. Sooner or later we're going to have to talk about it and then I'm going to be a mess. A hot mess, but still a mess.
Nyx bit his lip a little bit, studying Jude for a moment, then looking away again. God, he didn't know what to do, or say. He knew what he wanted, and he knew he couldn't have it, and it was going to drive him insane, this longing need that he knew he couldn't and wouldn't act on.
