It took her a couple more seconds, but slowly, Eve's eyes opened. She took in Farah's office and the worried looks on the faces of her mother and her girlfriend. "So what did I miss?" she asked with a wry smile.

" a lot." Anya laughed and cried, holding eve as tight as her burned arms could manage

Eve clung to her girlfriend tightly, and her eyes met Farah's. So much emotion passed wordlessly between them.

Anya heard the door jiggle " it's saul" Anya said and nuzzled eve.

Eve and Farah broke eye contact as Farah looked to the door. With her magic, she unlocked it, and Saul and Ben came stumbling in. "Oh!" Saul's eyes widened, seeing Eve conscious. "You're awake now."

"Dad," Eve laughed.

Anya moved away so the two could interact. Anya looked to farah. " I'm so sorry.."

Eve stood and rushed to her father's arms. Saul hugged her tightly. "I love you," he mumbled into her hair.

"I know…"

Farah looked from her husband and daughter to Anya. "What?"

" I got eve hurt. I tried to protect her and now she's hurt"

"No," Farah replied quietly, looking down to avoid Anya's gaze. "I did." She stood up and walked to her desk, not letting her pain show.

Eve let go of Saul and turned to Anya. "So what happened?" she asked eagerly.

" well.. after you fell we all stepped in to help protect you. Saul faught my dad I fought Rosalind. I got my fairy wings…" Anya mumbled the last part.

Eve's eyes went wide. "Oh my God, Anya that's amazing!" She embraced her lover tightly. "I'm so proud of you," she murmured into Anya's ear, her voice full of emotion.

anya wimpered " eve my arms.." she yelped

Eve pulled back with confusion. Her eyes widened at the sight of the burns on Anya's arms. "You're… you're burned… How?"

" before i got my wings i think rosalind was causing serious backlash.." she said and lowered her head

Eve turned to her mother with a steely gaze. "Can you fix her?"

Farah kept her back to them and leaned on her desk.

"Can you fix her?!" Eve repeated louder, making Farah wince.

" eve it physical.. i have to heal on my own.." anya mumbled quietly

"No, she can heal you. I know it," Eve accused sharply. "She just doesn't want to."

"Eve, please," Farah said, her voice containing many emotions.

anya placed her forehead on eves.dont. i have to do this. she thought and put her hand on eves cheek.

Eve glared at her mother's back. She took Anya's hand and pulled her to the door. Looking back over her shoulder, she growled the worst thing she ever said to Farah. "You're nothing but a coward." Then, she pulled Anya out the door and shut it loudly behind them.

"eve! whats gotten into you?" anya said, stopping and jerking her arm from eve. fuck that hurt worse! she thought to herself but kept the stern look at eve " she risked her life to keep you safe!? have even seen the wounds shes holding in tears for?!"

Eve looked back at Anya and shook her head. "No, she's selfish. She doesn't care – she never has and she never will. Come on, I'm going to heal you." She gently reached out to take Anya's hand.

" she does care eve! she does!" anya said " be thankful you even have a mom eve, because my only parent just tried to kill me! the only woman ive know as mom wants you and me dead. she was going to kill you eve" anya voice broke at the last part. " i would have lost you.."

"No, she wasn't going to kill me," Eve said quietly. "When she touched me… she was showing me something. I don't know what, but it was powerful. My mother has been hiding my power from me for my entire life. Tell me that's not selfish, Anya!"

" she was protecting you!" anya damn near yelled. " she took every hit aimed at you!"

Eve’s stony expression broke. Her voice wavered slightly as she whispered, “What?”
