" i dont know, but he did drop me into her care so probaby."
" i dont know, but he did drop me into her care so probaby."
"Is he a fairy?" Farah asked, trying to connect the dots.
" probably." She said
Farah pondered this for a second before she stood up quickly. "Stay here," she commanded and marched out of her office, shutting the door behind her.
Eve let out a long breath she had been holding practically since the conversation started.
Anya held eve tightly " I'm so sorry.."
"Don't be," Eve whispered, clutching Anya tightly. "It's not you."
"Feels like it.."
"I promise it's not," Eve assured her.
Anya sighed and nuzzled eve.
"I'm sorry," Eve whispered into Anya's hair. "About your father. That never should've happened to you."
" it's the past. It is what it is.."
Not for me, Eve thought, but she didn't say anything. "I'm sorry about how my mother is treating you. I've never seen her like this before or having such raw, powerful emotions."
" I haven't either but.. she's just making sure your okay."
Eve nodded slowly. Inside, she couldn't help but think of her nightmares. Saul's infection without a cure. Farah's brutal but quick death. Anya's kidnapping and torture. "I know," she breathed quietly.
" eve. What's on your mind? Your so tense it scares me.."
Eve inhaled shakily. "Alright, I… I've been having nightmares. About you. About my parents. And I can't tell if they're real or not. I'm terrified you'll be hurt."
" eve.. I promise were all still here. We're all alright."
Eve shook her head quickly. "You don't understand," she whispered. Her voice was thick with emotions, and her hands trembled. "I watched my father become infected, and no one got to him in time. I watched my mother's neck get snapped. I can't even see the surroundings. I only focus on them. Everything else is black. There's no escaping it. I… It…" She squeezed her eyes shut then opened them quickly. "Every time I close my eyes I can see it."
" i- I know.. I knew you lied to me Last night and this morning." She said and ran her fingers through eves hair.
"I'm sorry. I couldn't sleep," she admitted, sighing quietly as Anya began to comb Eve's hair with her fingers. "I didn't want to lie, but I didn't want you to worry. How did you know?"
" your eyes. You had dark circles." She said Anya looked up when Farah came back in.
Eve whirled to see both her mother and father standing in the doorway. She didn't let go of Anya. "Mom, what is going on?" she asked.
Farah's dumbfounded expression was greatly concerning. With Saul physically and emotionally supporting her, she swallowed and finally said, "Rosalind is back. She's breaking the Barrier."
" no!" Anya let go of wve " I'm putting an end to this! Here and now!" She snarled
Eve quickly moved to hold Anya back. "Anya, wait."
Saul discreetly slipped his hand into Farah's and squeezed it. She quickly contributed, "Eve is right. We need to figure out a plan. Rosalind is prepared and strong. You can't take her by yourself."
Anya growled, knowing her skin was hot. " Eve let go or youll be burnt. Least let me calm down." She said stern but soft
