Kenzie gently took his face in her hands and smiled up at him. “Hunter. You are going to be a great father. Our child will love you. If anything, they’ll be a daddy’s child and ignore me,” she added with a slight chuckle. “Trust me.”
Hunter smiled back.
"I'm pretty sure they won't ignore you," he laughed. "I'm just worried. I don't want our child to go through what I went through–what we both went through. We both had a rough childhood. I don't want our child to go through the same thing."
“Then let’s do our best to make sure that doesn’t happen to them,” Kenzie said before reaching up to peck his lips.
Hunter hummed in response just as the doctor reentered.
"I've prepared a date for your ultrasound," she said, handing Kenzie another paper. She then informed Kenzie of what she should focus on in terms of her health and what she should avoid doing. After fifteen minutes or so, they were excused.
"I think I know how to surprise the others," Hunter grinned as they walked out, Hunter having his arms wrapped around his pregnant wife.
“And how is that?” Kenzie asked with a grin as they made their way to the car.
“Leo likes surprises,” Hunter told her. “It sounds cliché, though. What if we give them something they have to open, and in it we have the baby’s picture? Or ‘Congratulations! You’re an uncle/aunt.’ Something like that.”
“I like the first idea,” Kenzie giggled. “They’d be so shocked. Maybe a ‘Thinking of You’ card?”
“We could also make something and write ‘congratulations, Uncle/Aunt!’ on it,” Hunter provided. “It would be so much fun breaking the news to them.”
“It’ll be so great. We have to hand it to them ourselves, too. I really want to see their reactions,” Kenzie said with another giggle. Her stomach grumbles and she sighed. “Food first. I’m starving. And I really want French toast.”
Hunter grinned.
"French toast, it is!" He said, both of them walking towards their car. Soon enough, they parked in front of a nice eating place (I FORGOT WHAT'S IT CALLED).
"Order whatever you want," Hunter grinned. "After all, you're eating for two now."
(A restaurant?)
Kenzie grinned back and kissed his cheek before getting out of the car. “Yeah. I guess I am, huh? Honestly, that’s kind of strange to think about. There’s a tiny person growing inside me,” she mused softly, glancing down at herself.
(YES)
“What would you want to name the child?” Hunter asked curiously.
(Lol. I hate it when that happens. I did it the other day at work. I couldn’t remember what a thermometer was called…)
Kenzie shrugged loosely and looked back up at Hunter, still smiling. Honestly, she didn’t think she’d ever stop.
“I don’t know yet. I haven’t thought about names. Maybe we could do it together?” she suggested as they walked inside.
Hunter shrugged.
“I’m fine with whatever you come up with,” he told her. “Unless it’s terrible.”
“You’re a really help,” Kenzie chuckled. “Booth or table?”
“Table, I guess,” Hunter shrugged. “Can you order for me today? I have no idea what to eat.”
“Sure. Pancakes?” Kenzie asked.
They stepped into the restaurant and were taken to an empty table. Kenzie immediately pulled out her phone and started looking for names.
Hunter shrugged.
“Something other than pancakes,” he added. “I’ve been eating those too much. I’ve gotten a little tired.”
"Hm… Eggs? With sausage?" Kenzie asked, glancing down over he menu.
Hunter grimaced.
"I do not like eggs," he said. "But I do like sausages. Very much."
Kenzie chuckled and looked up at him. “You are incredibly picky sometimes, babe. What about waffles? Or French toast?”
Hunter shrugged.
“I’m a picky eater, what can I say?” He grinned. “But I do eat a lot, so that makes up for it. Um, waffles, I guess.”
“All right. So you’ll have waffles and sausage, and I’ll have French toast,” Kenzie hummed as a waitress walked over. She told the girl their order, and she went to get their food.
“How are you going to tell your father?” Hunter asked before he grimaced. “Damn it, he’s going to kill me.”
Kenzie's eyes widened before she groaned and set her forehead on the table. "I have no idea… How do you tell someone they're going to be a grandfather?"
Hunter shrugged.
“Don’t ask me,” he poked Kenzie on the forehead. “Also… I was thinking…”
