Kasey bit her lip as she looked at him.
"I'm just really dizzy," she finally murmured. A sudden wave of lightheadedness washed over her, and she leaned forward with a groan.
Kasey bit her lip as she looked at him.
"I'm just really dizzy," she finally murmured. A sudden wave of lightheadedness washed over her, and she leaned forward with a groan.
Liam pulled her back gently, “Why don’t you lie down, yeah?”
Kasey nodded slowly, getting to her feet as carefully as possible. She blinked a few times, trying to get the room to stop spinning. Leaning on the table with one hand, she used to other to press on her forehead.
Liam put his arm around Kasey to help her walk to her room, worry etched all over his face. He swallowed and tried his best to help her.
Kasey leaned on Liam with a sigh. When they made it to her room, she collapsed on to her bed, not caring to be careful of her leg. She hissed in pain when it hit the bed, but groaned and buried her face in her arms.
"I don't know what's wrong with me," she murmured.
“Maybe it has something to do with the bullet wound?” Lima suggested, sitting down on the bed next to her.
"Could be," Kasey said, her voice sounding strained. "I don't know what, though."
“You said you feel dizzy, right? Do you feel anything else?” Liam already had some idea of what it could be and hoped he was wrong.
"Lightheaded," Kasey breathed, rubbing at her face with her hands.
Liam bit his lip, “Hows the pain in your leg? Worse?”
"It feels like it's being shot all over again," Kasey mumbled.
Liam’s face drained of colour, “Alright, well… do you have Harper’s number?”
Kasey nodded slowly and pointed to her phone, which sat on the nightstand beside the bed.
Liam grabbed it and used Kasey’s thumb print to unlock the phone, “I’ll be back in a minute.” He figured he could just call Harper using her phone. He stepped into the living room and after finding the contact, rung the number.
Kasey gave him a thumbs up before he left.
After a few rings, Harper picked up the phone with a, "Hello? Kasey?"
“Sorry, not Kasey but you need to get here right now Harper.” Liam’s tone said enough about how much worry he was in as he paced back and forth across the living room.
"Why? What's wrong? What happened?" Harper questioned, his voice sounding strained.
“Well, I’m not entirely sure but from the looks of things… I think the bullet Kasey was shot with was poisoned.” Liam swallowed.
Harper cursed under his breath, and the jingling if keys could be heard over the phone as he hurried to his car. "I'll be there in a few minutes."
“Okay, please hurry.” Liam hung up the phone and returned to Kasey’s room.
Kasey glanced over at Liam, giving him a weak smile.
Harper raced back to the apartment, going as quickly as he dared. A few minutes later, like he'd said, he pulled into the parking lot, jerking the car to a stop. He ran up the stairs and into the suite, hurrying to Kasey's room.
Liam looked up at Harper with a worried look then back down at Kasey’s leg and swallowed, “Kasey… well, I think you might be poisoned.”
Kasey groaned and rubbed at her face again.
"Why does that not surprise me?" she muttered. "Honestly, it's like life hates me…"
"C'mon, Kase… Life doesn't hate you," Harper assured her gently.
“It’s just bad luck, that’s all. We’ll figure out the poison and antidote while you rest, okay?” Liam said gently, giving her hand a small squeeze.
Kasey sighed and leaned back, closing her eyes. "All right… Though I'd much rather not be alone."
