Liam chuckled, “No, no. I mean, maybe..”
Liam chuckled, “No, no. I mean, maybe..”
"If she becomes deadly, then I might need you to save me," Kasey joked.
“Sure thing. Cats are the one thing I can deal with.” Liam said, grinning.
"Cats and me, that is," Kasey teased with a light laugh.
“Of course, of course,” Liam replied, still smiling but laughing slightly.
"Do you want to call for breakfast?" Kasey asked. "Or do you want me to? Or neither… I'm just hungry, I guess…"
“Yeah, food sounds great right now,” Liam called for a nurse who came quickly then hurried off to bring them some breakfast. She was back soon enough with two trays of food and Liam thanked her.
Kasey smiled politely at the nurse before she left the room. Sitting up, she adjusted the tray in her lap so that it wouldn't fall. She noticed the lack of space on the bed and frowned slightly.
"Should I move to the chair?" she asked.
Liam shook his head, “No. no you’re alright there.” He said, giving her a reassuring smile before buttering his toast, followed shortly by some strawberry jam on top of that as well.
Kasey smiled. "Okay. Great," she sighed, relaxing back as she did the same as Liam. She took a bite of the toast through a content smile.
“For hospital food this isn’t the worst thing I’ve eaten…” Liam said through a mouthful of food.
"I try not to go to the hospital, so I wouldn't know," Kasey chuckled, teasing him.
Liam rolled his eyes playfully, “Yeah yeah. The food is better this time, last time I was here it was terrible.”
"What were you here for last time?" Kasey asked. "If you don't mind my asking."
“It’s fine, I broke my ankle playing soccer when I was younger is all.” He explained, shrugging a shoulder.
"Oh, okay. That's a lot less concerning than what I was thinking," Kasey said as she finished her toast.
Liam chuckled, “The second time I broke my wrist but other then that I haven’t been in since.”
"Well, I'm glad you don't make it a point to come here often," Kasey laughed a bit.
“I try to be careful.” Liam replied, smiling a little.
"Unlike me… I always rush head-first into danger. Not that I can help it with my occupation," Kasey said with a shrug.
“That’s true. You can’t really help that, can you?” Liam said, taking a bite of another piece of toast.
"Nope…" Kasey sighed, taking a sip of orange juice. "What are you going to do when you get back?"
“I’m not sure, I haven’t really thought about it… avoid work, in case Mat’s there. Luckily I can work from home but other then that… I don’t know.” Liam said, rubbing his neck.
"I hate Mat for what he did to you," Kasey growled, setting her empty tray down on the chair next to her. She looked up at the ceiling, her fingers twitching as the napkin she had used started to rise in the air without her realizing.
Liam reached over and gently took Kasey’s hands in his own, rubbing his tu,b over the back of her knuckles to calm her, “It’s okay, I’m fine now.”
