(Harper is her brother whom we haven’t had here in a bit lol)
Kasey nodded. “Okay. I’ll give her a call, then… You don’t think our cells would have been bugged, do you? Because that would be bad…”
(Harper is her brother whom we haven’t had here in a bit lol)
Kasey nodded. “Okay. I’ll give her a call, then… You don’t think our cells would have been bugged, do you? Because that would be bad…”
(Oh shi right yeah, sorry I forgot lol. Wasn't he living in the apartment across from them tho?)
Liam sighed, keeping one hand on the wheel as the other went to rest behind his neck, "We've had our phones on us the whole time. Unless he's hacked them.. we could always find a roadside phone to call from?"
“Do you think we should? Just to be safe,” Kasey asked, rubbing her forehead and sighing.
“Probably. Until we can be sure that we’re not being tracked, hacked or followed best to be cautious.” Liam said.
Kasey groaned and buried her head in her hands. “I hate this so much,” she whispered. “So fricking much.”
"Me too baby, me too." Liam focused his attention back to the road. It wasn't long before he noticed a road side phone, pulling over to the side.
(I’m so sorry I disappeared for so long. I lost motivation for a long time.)
Kasey unbuckled her seatbelt and moved to step out of the car. “I really hope our phones weren’t bugged…” she murmured, sighing as she stepped out of the car. “Should I call someone else? Or do you think our original plan is okay?”
(Hey it's all good, I understand, take all the time you need to recover and help you're mental health)
"No, call your friend," Liam replied, winding down his window and leaning out so he could talk clearly, "If you need to call your brother, inform him about what's happening."
(Thank you. I think I’m okay for now.)
Kasey nodded and dialed her friend’s number quickly. As soon as the friend answered, Kasey explained what was happening to her and what they needed. Her friend was quick to offer her place up for them to hide out at for a while, and Kasey thanked her profusely.
After saying goodbye, she called her brother again and updated him on their situation. Harper didn’t sound too pleased about any of it, but he agreed that it was probably good thinking and that they should get going as soon as possible.
“Okay. Ready to head out,” Kasey said once she hung up the phone and made her way back to the car.
Liam nodded, making sure that Kasey was in and buckled up before he set off again. The quicker they got to Kasey's friends ,the better. The quicker they made a plan of action to try and stop Matt, the better. If there was a way to destroy all his work and then him they had to find it, before any more supers were effected.
“So… should we do anything about our phones? Or do you think they’re fine? Should we maybe wait to get to my friend’s place? See if she or anyone she knows could check?” Kasey asked, fingering the hem of her shirt.
Liam thought for a moment, letting out a deep breath, "Wait till we get there. I don't know how to check if our phones have been hacked or not so unless you do I suggest we wait until we can find someone who does."
Kasey nodded. She leaned back in her seat and closed her eyes with a sigh.
“Okay… Then it’s just another half-hour long drive…”
The ride fell silent after that, the radio filling the empty space of sound around them as they drove the rest of the way to the city. Soon enough, the towering peaks of the place came into view, the traffic became heavier and Liam's nerves grew. What if Matt had somehow followed them?
In the silence of the car ride, Kasey has fallen asleep not long after she’d finished speaking. She twitched and made soft sounds every once in a while, but her dreams weren’t as bad as some she’d had. These were mild compared to those.
Liam placed a hand on her lower thigh, a reassurance that he was always going to be there for her, no matter what happened. Eventually, he pulled up by Kasey's friends, parking the car. He sighed, then kissed her cheek, "Kasey? It's time to wake up."
Kasey slowly blinked her eyes open and looked at him. She stretched a little, glancing around sleepily. When she realized where they were, she sighed, which turned into a yawn.
“M’kay… I’m ready,” she murmured, rubbing her eyes.
"You sure?" He asked, glancing over her, slightly worried, "Do you need another minute before we go in? To process or wake up a little more?"
Kasey fully opened her eyes again and glanced over at the building where they were meeting her friend. Was she ready? No, probably not. Was she every going to be ready? Again, no.
“It’s now or never,” she said with a shrug, turning back to Liam. “Are you ready?”
Liam, despite wanting to shake his head, nodded, "Yeah. C'mon, let's go. The quicker we get somewhere safe the better."
Kasey nodded once in agreement before finally stepping out of the car. She waited beside it for Liam to come around, giving him a tight smile when he reached her. She took his hand and squeezed his fingers as they made their way to the door.
Liam squeezed her hand back, his heart speeding up a little as the reached the door and Liam knocked. He hoped they'd be okay.
Just as Kasey was about to knock, a tall woman with dark skin and hair opened the door. She smiled at the couple, then ushered them in.
“Come in, come in. You two shouldn’t be out there longer than necessary,” she said as she closed the door behind them. “I’d ask you how your drive was, but I feel that’s inappropriate for this situation.” Her hand shot out toward Liam, waiting for him to shake it. “I’m Ivory. And yes, I’m aware of the irony. You must be Liam! It’s great to meet you, though I wish it had been under better circumstances. Can I get either of you anything to eat? Drink? I’ve got water, tea, coffee, sodas, you name it.”
Kasey laughed under her breath. She may have failed to mention that her friend’s power was super speed, which also affected her speech.
Liam blinked, though smiled and shook Ivory's hand, "It's a pleasure to meet you as well," Even after being with Kasey for so long, knowing Kyle and Harper, seeing another super was still an amazement to him, "Thanks for the offer but I'm okay for now."
“Some water would be really nice, actually. And we brought our cats; I hope that’s okay?” Kasey said, leaning against Liam once he’d pulled his hand back.
“Oh, definitely! I’m glad to have them. I love animals. You can bring them inside while I get your water!” Ivory bubbled.
