Kasey took a deep breath and continued down the hall. Hopefully, this time it would lead to a door, and preferably one that opened outside…
When the door opened up, it revealed a huge room, full of boxes and crates with different numbers and tags on each. But, at the end, was a huge door that opened up into the outdoor.
“Thank goodness,” Kasey breathed as they stepped into the room and she saw the door. They were so close, so close… Se just needed to keep her eyes and ears sharp just in case something else ended up being there. “Let’s hurry.”
Kyle nodded, looking left and right to make sure nobody was coming.
Running across a large, open space… What could go wrong, right? Well, as long as there were no “henchmen” looking around, they should be fine.
Kasey took a deep breath and started walking, her gaze continuously flicking from one side of the room to the other. What she would give to have Aspect’s heightened senses right now…
They got about halfway across the field before an arrow landed in front of Kasey. One man from a tower not to far away, was loading another arrow already.
Kasey’s widened eyes shot up in the direction the arrow had come from.
Crap, crap, crap! Of course. Of course they weren’t clear, yet. How had she thought they would be safe already?
She raised a hand facing the man, stones and pebbles flying toward him.
The man didn't have time to duck before the pebbles and rubble hit him, temporarily blinding him and giving the three a chance to escape.
"Let's go," Kasey hissed, glancing over at Kyle and Liam. "Can you carry him?"
Kyle nodded, picking Liam up bridal style while the latter grunted in pain, "Let's go."
Kasey sped up so that she was spinning toward the door. She stuck her hand it in front of her, and the door was pushed open by an unseen force. As soon as she stepped outside, she liked around. They would need a ride to get back… Maybe they could steal a car?
Off to the side, there were three SUV's. One looked to be occupied, but the other two seemed to be free for use, "Over there!"
"Any chance you know how to hot-wire a car?" Kasey asked, glancing over her shoulder as she hurried towards the SUVs.
Kyle smirked, "You're lucky I can." He replied, quickly following.
Kasey let out a quick sigh and nodded once. "Good. I think I can get it unlocked. I'll just have to concentrate for a moment," she mused as they reached one of the vehicles.
"Good, and please hurry, Liam isn't going to make it at this rate." Kyle replied, casting the other a worried glance.
“I know,” Kasey muttered. Of course she knew. Her boyfriend was bleeding his life out. If they didn’t get him to the hospital soon… She shuddered even thinking of it. She didn’t want to live a life without him in it… “Done.”
"Wonderful." Kyle muttered, managing to get Liam in the back seat of the car before starting on getting the thing actually moving.
Kasey quickly climbed in with Liam, sitting as close to him as she could. She reached over and ran a hand through his hair, chewing on her lip as she looked down at him, worry filling her eyes.
"We're gonna get you out of here. You're going to be okay," she whispered.
Liam leaned slightly into her touch, wishing he could wrap an arm around Kasey without a surge of pain rushing through him, "I love you…" He muttered.
"I love you, too. So so much," Kasey rasped out, feeling tears pricking in her eyes. "You have to get through this, okay? You're strong. Just… Survive this, okay?"
Liam chuckled weakly, cracking one eye open, "Don't worry, I'm sure as hell trying…"
There was a low rumbling that shook the car and Kyle let out a triumphant laugh, "Leggo baby." The car started to move, and soon enough, he was pumping the accelerator.
Kasey gave him a tiny smile when he opened his eye. She leaned down to quickly press a gentle kiss to his lips before sitting back up. "Good."
Liam manged to press back into the kiss just a little before his eye shut again, releasing a long and very, very painful breath.
The car sped through the dirt roads, avoiding a few bullets along the way and it wasn't long before they were on a main road again, "Kasey, where's the nearest hospital?" Kyle asked.
Kasey gently cupped one of Liam's cheeks. Kyle's voice reached her ear, and she looked up at him. "Oh, turn left onto highway 22. I have a friend who's closer than the hospital. She knows about me being Kinesie."
