He shook his head. "It's fine…better safe than sorry." He replied softly.
He shook his head. "It's fine…better safe than sorry." He replied softly.
She nodded, laying back on the bed and rolling so she was facing away from him. It was clear she was still disappointed with herself for getting him worked up, or more importantly, for her brain going crazy and thinking she was in trouble when she wasn’t. Delia closed her eyes and tried to get some sleep, hoping she would sleep soundly and without nightmares.
Jay sat awake, taking deep breaths and trying to calm down from the nightmare. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry mom. Dad. He thought.
Her breathing eventually slowed and her chest rose and fell, the only telltale sign that she had fallen back asleep. Leo had woken up when he heard them talking though and looked around, padding across the bed away from her and to Jay where he promptly curled up beside him and helped comfort him.
Jay began to pet Leo, biting his lip slightly. He glanced at Delia. She's asleep. Good. He thought.
Leo leaned into the petting and his tail wagged, clearly enjoying the attention once again.
Jay sighed softly, and picked Leo up, holding him and still petting him. He bit his lip slightly. I should…leave. Let Delia travel on her own. She would be safer without me.
Leo’s tail wagged even more at being picked up and he settled into Jay’s arms, content with the attention. Delia rolled onto her other side, facing the two of them. Her arm was acting as a pillow for her head and she curled into a tight ball, her hand reaching out for where Leo had laid next to her and finding nothing.
Jay kept petting the little puppy, closing his eyes and leaning his head against the wall. He sighed softly, biting his lip. There was so much he didn't understand anymore.
Leo settles into his arms and got comfortable, the puppy’s eyes dropping closed again. Delia hadn’t woke up yet, and there were no nightmares to scare her awake quite yet.
Jay kept petting the small puppy, a tiny smile flickering over his face.
Leo eventually got bored in the position he was in and rolled to his side as best he could in Jay’s arms, looking up at him for more attention.
Jay sighed, and kept petting the puppy, trying to calm down.
The puppy snuggled against him again and settled in, eyes closing once again though this time Leo fell asleep completely.
Jay kept petting him gently.
(Imma just timeskip…)
Delia woke up a few hours later, the sun only starting to rise half an hour before she stirred. She stretched with her eyes closed and sighed, rolling around.
(ok)
Jay had finally managed to fall asleep only an hour ago, slumped against the wall as he slept. Leo wad sprawled across his lap, snuggled up to him.
One of her hands bumped against him as she stretched, but she didn’t move it as she stopped stretching and blearily opened her eyes. She looked around and saw that he and Leo were still asleep and quickly pulled her hand back, not wanting to disturb the two of them as she sat up.
Jay shifted slightly, eyes still closed. Leo woke up after a few minutes, blinking and stretching sleepily, giving an adorable little yawn.
Delia couldn’t help but smile, watching the puppy for a minute before shifting around and swinging her legs off the edge of the bed.
Leo crawled off of Jay's lap and over to her, sniffing at her and wagging his tail slightly.
“Hi buddy,” She whispered, petting him for a moment before grabbing one of her crutches and making her way to her feet. Delia knee for a fact it was going to take her way too long to get down the stairs, so she was going to wake Jay up and tell him what she was doing before starting down. When he was ready he could follow her down and actually not have to wait for her.
Leo whined softly, looking up at her plaintively. Jay shifted, still asleep. His pale hair had drifted into his face slightly.
She pulled her pack onto her back and smiled at the puppy, sighing to herself as she scooped him up with her free arm and gently set him on the ground, “You can stay here with Jay, or if you’re going to be a little stinker, you can head down with me.” Delia didn’t bother to grab her other crutch yet, hopping over to Jay and tapping his shoulder softly.
Leo grabbed her pant leg in his teeth, pulling lightly. Jay woke up with a start. "Hmm? What?" He said, blinking up at her.
