Delia sighed and propped her head up on her hand, looking over at both of them and out the window to see how much daylight they had left. Her mind drifted and she continued petting Leo, wondering what they would find when they headed out again. Maybe they would even come across more people.
Jay sighed softly, closing his eyes for a moment. Leo leaned into their hands happily, tail thumping on the bed. Jay smiled slightly. "I think bringing this little guy back with me is the best decision I've made in years."
“Definitely an amazing decision,” She agreed with a smile and a nod, “He’s adorable.” Delia has grown fond of Leo, even just in the short time they had traveled with him.
Jay nodded. "Mhm." He smiled at the pup. Leo wagged his tail happily, as if sensing that they were talking about him.
She pet the puppy and smiled, scratching behind his ear where she knew puppies liked to be pet. He was such a sweet puppy and she wished she would be able to see him grow up into an amazing and fluffy dog.
Leo wagged his tail, leaning into her hand happily as his tongue lolled out of his mouth. Jay smiled slightly, and kept petting Leo gently.
Dierra’s smile grew and she looked up at Jay, “So, what should we do now? We still have several hours until the sun goes down.”
Jay shrugged. "I don't know. It's up to you." He replied, looking over at her. Leo wagged his tail.
“We could pack up our stuff,” She suggested, not very fond of the idea but with no other ideas coming to mind. Delia sighed, rolling onto her back and letting Leo just be pet by Jay.
Jay sighed. "I'm mostly packed already, but yeah, we could."
She nodded, sitting up and stretching her arms. Carefully, she moved to the edge of the bed and grabbed her crutches, pulling them under her arms and standing up slowly. “I have to figure out where all my stuff is first,” She said, cracking a smile, “It’s probably scattered everywhere.”
He chuckled. "Want me to help?" He asked, looking at her.
“Only if you’d like to,” She replied, already leaning down and picking up her bag to put on the bed. Some of her things had been pulled out by Leo and she could see them around the room, along with the cans of food they had gotten from the fast food place for their journey.
He nodded. "Okay." He glanced at Leo. "We need to eat, and feed this little monster." Leo barked softly, wagging his tail.
Delia chuckled and picked up the smallest of the cans, tossing it to him and shrugging, “Don’t know what it is, but we’ll have to eat it without a fire. I’m not risking one way up here.” She got back to work as soon as she tossed the can to him, throwing scattered cans and other various equipment towards her bag so she could put it all in.
Jay nodded. "That works." He opened the can, and scooped some out for Leo. Leo ate it happily, wagging his tail.
Her mind was telling her to go get some of the food as well, but she ignored it as she grabbed the last thing of hers that she saw and started packing it all back in her bag. She sighed when she finished and smiled, proud that she finished and didn’t seem to be missing anything. Delia looked back at Jay and Leo and just watched the two of them with a tiny smile, they seemed so happy.
Jay ate about half of what was left, then held it out to her with a small smile. "Here you go." He said, reaching out and petting Leo. Leo finished up the food, licking his chops happily, then trotted over to Delia, sniffing the can in a curious way.
“Thanks,” She replied with a smile, sitting on the edge of the bed and digging in. She laughed softly as Leo tromped over and fed him a bit of her food, “You spoiled puppy.” Delia polished off the food with occasionally slipping some to the pup, setting the empty can on the floor.
Leo happily ate whatever she gave him, wagging his tail. Jay sighed. "You're spoiling him." He commented, petting Leo gently.
“He needs the food more than I do,” She replied with a shrug as the puppy tromped over to get petted by Jay, abandoning Delia at the edge of the bed, “He’s growing, and I can survive without the few scoops of food to give him.”
Jay shrugged. "Alright… eventually we're going to have to give him more, too. Half a can, then when he's bigger, a full can." He shook his head a bit. Leo wagged his tail ad Jay kept petting him.
She nodded, adding to what he said as she looked over at her bag and thought of how much trouble it was going to be to get back down all the stairs, “Though if either of us go out hunting, he could come with and eat whatever he catches.”
Jay nodded. "Yes, but he won't be big enough to catch more than bugs for another year or so." He replied, looking down at the small puppy. Leo wagged his tail happily.
“We’ll have to keep him well fed until then.” Delia thought of what could happen in the course of a year. Both her and Leo could be dead long before her next birthday rolled around, or at least the time she assumed her birthday was. Keeping track of time was useless out here anymore.
