The second the rat left, Jasper turned to Lander. "Never undermine me like that again," he snarled. "If I wanna hurt someone, I'll do it. You'd better not get in the way."

Eric reached over and pushed Blair lightly. "The hell did you have to do that for? I don't want any enemies. We literally just came here."

Lander stared straight ahead. "Sometimes some situations need to be diffused." He spoke quietly so as not to alert any teachers to the fact that they were talking. He turned to Jasper. "I think he's still plenty scared of you if that's what you were worried about. No one was undermined."

The headmaster droned on about welcoming the students to the school. He introduced a few new teachers that would be joining their faculty this year and discussed what they would be doing for the rest of the day.

Jasper rolled his eyes and leaned back in his seat, feet still propped up. Cleaver nudged his hand as he made himself comfortable on Jasper's legs.

Eric wasn't much for standing still. Every 30 seconds, he leaned in and made a sarcastic comment in the direction of the person closest to him.
A new teacher stood up and bowed, and Eric moved towards Kikiro with a grin. "Bad day to do electricity magic, I guess," he murmured, eyes fixed on the teacher's acid green, stiff, spiky haircut.

Already bored with opening remarks, Shay leaned his head back against his chair, staring into the skylights that littered the room. "Lander." He whispered to his friend. "Psst–Lander–Entertain me. I'm dying here." Layla squawked, the look in her eye annoyed because Shay has stopped petting her.

Kikiro jumped a little as Eric leaned in to whisper into her ear. Sighing mentally, she came to the conclusion that she would have to get used to people invading her personal space. Something she wasn't used to in the slightest. Looking up at Eric, Kikiro smiled in response to his joke, dipping her head into a quick nod of agreement. Mages certainly were an eccentric bunch.

Character 1 (I'll have my other one up eventually)
Name: Risa Aegir
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Sexual/Romantic Orientation: Straight
Appearance: 5'10, medium-thin build, not very curvy, black hair, bright amber eyes, rarely smiles, pale and clear skin
Main Personality Traits: Practical and can be super uptight at times, finds herself working harder to prove herself and definitely puts way too much pressure on herself. Puts up a front of confidence even though she has very little. Quiet and introverted, usually preferring to watch events unfold from afar.
Magical Background: Grew up around tutors from all sorts of magical fields. Her mother taught illusion magic, so it wound up being one of her more proficient fields. She has at least basic proficiency in most magics, but she has yet to feel like she's on the right track to mastering any of them.
Other background: Risa has had this enormous weight of pressure on her shoulders her whole life. As the only child of two pretty powerful individuals, she feels like she can't live up to their standards, and much less confide in them about her struggles with magic.
Typical/favorite outfit (though there are school uniforms): Anything dark (black, gray, maybe blue on laundry day), usually wears baggy clothes, hooded sweatshirts, sweatpants, comfy shoes. Generally doesn't care about looking particularly attractive, as she prefers to go unseen anyway.
Familiar: (What type of animal they are, what their name is, something about them, etc.) Raven named Specter, is completely useless and yells at her. He's an absolute demon and a pain, but Risa loves her demon boi.
Likes: studying late into the night, spooky stories, intimidating people for the sheer pleasure of it
Dislikes: Pettiness, people who are lazy and still get everything handed to them
Favorite/Specialized form of magic: illusion, alchemy, warding/shield spells, is trying to improve elemental spells (especially water/ice) because she likes the idea of them but she's not very good at them
Other: (Can't think of anything at the moment, might add later.)

Lander stared ahead but leaned back in his chair so his head was next to Shay's. "You seriously wanna hook up with one of the new kids man?" He looked down at them, not seeing what Shay saw. "Are we looking at the same girls? Which ones are you talking about?"

Shay let out a snort. "You make it sound like I want to marry one. What's the harm in a little fun that will result in them knowing their true place? Hm?" He turned his gaze back to the little group of street rats. "The blonde and that tatted one, obviously. They aren't so plain and–well you know unattractive–like the rest. I'll take the bubbly blonde so you can have the tatted girl. You need a little spicy in your life, my man." He stroked Layla's feathers. "I'm an asshole, I'll admit, but I'm a generous asshole."

(I can't want for Aster to tell Shay that she is a lesbian. I'm living for that interaction.)

(Oh my god I can't either)
(Especially cause Aster's oblivious as hell)

Lander snorted. "Very generous of you, thank you." He looked the girl Shay had picked for him up and down. "I don't know man, tattoos? That might run interference with my own coolness level." He thought about it again. "But having a little fun does sound tempting."
