heheh anyone got advice on how to get back into a project after a 7 month accidental hiatus?

Oof- First I'd ask myself exactly how invested I was in it.
If I was really into it, then I'd try to pick it back up. Y'know, reread some notes, maybe try out some new ideas that I didn't have 7 months ago.
If I wasn't, I'd consider recycling the ideas and using them elsewhere.

oh it's getting published when it's done, my co author and i have been working on it for years.

Those are just a few that I can think of off the top of my head. There's plenty of advice videos for webcomic artists, too. ^^

AHHHHHHH THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! This is really helpful ^^

Hi :D
I write fanfics more often than actual original stories, which my Google docs are a testament to this, but you know, i like writing, even if i keep creating unfinished stories.

I'm going to do it! I'm going to write a one-shot!
It's going to take place middle of the main story and not make any sense out of context, but shut up!

Having trouble with keeping my fantasy names within reason. It'd be weird to have these mid-fantasy characters named Robert, I know, but there's really no limit to how strange I can make the names, so I find myself struggling. Here's a few examples, I guess:

  • Naveil - The first name I came up with for the universe, and probably that one I'm the happiest with.
It was originally Navail, as in "Navigation" and "Quail," but I changed it to make the pronunciation clearer.

  • Salmook - I came up with this one on the spot, honestly, but I really like it.
A combination of "Salmon" and "Chinook." It's also based on a nickname I use for my cat.

  • Atlurre - Not entirely sure about this one, may keep the name but change the character it belongs to.
A combination of "Atlas" and "Murrelet," a type of bird. Also sounds like "Antler," which fits his role as a hunter.

  • Taupike - Pronunciation for this one is a little unclear, mainly because what the hell is a "Tau?"
Pretty obvious what two words this one comes from, as no letters have been removed.

  • Ospard - Love this one, definitely in my Top 3 favorites.
Combination of "Osprey" and "Leopard," and MAN it fits the dweeb's personality so good.

Uh, yeah. Thanks for watching me ramble about character names, lol.

Nice! I like your way of naming characters. I still go on baby name websites 😂

Why must this oneshot be so difficult. My brain just keeps going:

"Uhh, [minecraft villager 'hrmm']. Have you ever considered making a second third first draft? [insert funny thing I saw earlier today] No? I think you should. Getting stuff done is for LOSERS. [iPhone piano riff]"

I am having severe issues with focusing.

and i'm not even done with my first draft yet, peace be with you ~sob~

I’m debating writing an alternate reality/history where instead of men being the ’superpower’- it’s the woman, and so it’s Men’s Rights instead of Woman’s Rights-
Does that make any sense?

I’m having reservations writing it, because I feel like it’ll offend people-

I'd say trigger warnings, disclaimers, and stuff exist for a reason.
Like yeah, no doubt some people would get mad.
But if you go into something like that knowing what it is, and then you act all shocked and appalled about it? Respectfully, go eat dirt.
At least it's not Save the Pearls bad because holy-

Cannot believe I need a PLOT DIAGRAM for a ONESHOT.
Baby steps, I guess.

- Hunting trip. (Exposition.)
- Hunting goes well, walking home. (Rising Action.)
- Wait… Dad, what the fuck? Big reveal. (Climax.)
- Dad looks… worried? That's bad. (Falling Action.)
- Dad shakes it off. Back to normal? (Resolution.)
