“T-that’s amazing!” Blake exclaimed, in very obvious awe. “That’s revolutionary! Though I guess I shouldn’t expect anything less from a goddess, right?” He chuckled a bit, practically giddy. Like any true scientist, they felt honored to be able to witness such a thing.
Serna blushed gently, putting a hand lightly on her chest.
"Why, thank you darling…" She smiled, Blake held in her hand and still wrapped up in the towel. "I'm glad to see you're enjoying this! Of course, the bodies are no better than slabs of meat until a soul is put into them."
“Of course, of course. That makes sense.” Blake really was intrigued. They’d never seen or heard about anything like this. “And of course! Who wouldn’t enjoy this?”
Kye smiled, enjoying the light squeeze from his father. "I can't get drunk though. I have to keep Blake safe," he reminded. He felt fortunate that he had decided to wear a shirt with a pocket on the front. He wondered how they would take to a pocket ride. Hopefully it would go over well enough.
"Well, don't find it too overwhelming," Serna pointed out. She looked up when she heard a beep, smiling.
"It's ready, darling," the goddess said, stepping over to the printer. There was Blake's completed, naked body, waiting for him.
"Okay, okay, we'll keep the drinking to the light side. Maybe Blake would like some too?" Derlik hummed, finally biting down on the candy in his mouth that he has been sucking on.
“Woah…this feels kind of strange I guess. Just thinking about that being my body.” He said. They weren’t exactly nervous, but it definitely felt a little bit strange.
((You know you’re tired when you accidentally turn on the caps lock and get scared by the uppercase letters))
(oh god I know that feeling-)
"Yes, I can understand darling," Serna said, nodding. She lifted Blake's body up, laying it on her palm next to the soul.
"Here, just step right in," the goddess instructed, offering her finger to help them balance.
Blake nodded, contemplating the body for a moment, taking a deep breath before stepping into it.
That was surprising. Even when Kye went light on his own drinks, that never stopped Derlik from doing the opposite. "I didn't say you had to, if that's what you're looking for me to say," the boy teased. "I dunno. We never asked how old they were," he said, answering Derlik's question.
Blake's body seemed to welcome him. It pulled some, t trying to get him all in at once. That's where Serna's finger came into play, helping to steady Blake and keep them from hurting themselves.
"Hey, I can watch my drinks when I need to," Derlik said, laughing some.
"And since when had age ever been a concern to either of us? Why, you had your first drink of wine very early."
It oddly felt like putting on a jacket, slipping into a new body. He appreciated Serna’s help.
Serna made sure Blake was lowered slowly, until finally he was in his new body. She offered her finger to help him up, humming some and respectfully keeping her eyes on his face.
"Now, it might take a bit getting used to your new body. It doesn't have the same muscle memory at your old one, so things like walking and writing might take some getting used to again. But, for now, let's get you some clothes shall we darling?"
He nodded. “That makes sense. Though it will be a bit frustrating to relearn but I’ll manage.” He smiled at her. “Thank you.”
"You're welcome, darling," Serna said with a chuckle. She lifted Blake up once more, turning to walk through the lab once more. She opened a cabinet, looking inside at the rows and rows of small pieces of clothing inside.
"What looks good to you, darling?" She asked, holding them up so they could see the clothes as well.
Blake’s choice of clothes wouldn’t be surprising. Black jeans, and anything with any sort of space pattern on it that he could find.
Serna helped Blake dress, smiling some when they finished.
"There! Good as new darling." The goddess smiled, moving to sit down again.
“Thank you.” He said, smiling up at her. “Is there anything else we need to do?” He asked.
"Nothing, darling. We just have to wait for the brownies to finish. We could go back out to the living room with Derlik and Kye if you'd like to, darling, or we could stay in here. Those two can be… quite the handful." Serna chuckled some, setting Blake in her lap.
(I'm thinking it's about time to put a pause on this until Iris gets back, sound good?)
"Hey, I can watch my drinks when I need to," Derlik said, laughing some.
"And since when had age ever been a concern to either of us? Why, you had your first drink of wine very early."
Kye rolled his eyes dramatically. “But it’s not any fun for you and you know that,” he argued, sticking his tongue out a moment. “And wasn’t that after my first life cycle? I agreed to it because I was technically of age because I had been 21 before,” he added.
"Uh huh, sure, keep telling yourself that. Technically, Blake's soul is older than 21 too, so it shouldn't matter much." Derlik laughed some, sticking his tongue out in turn.
"And I'll have fun so long as I'm spending time with my darling son."
“You’re almost no fun to argue with anymore,” Kye commented with a pout, before noting the look on Derlik’s face, copying him. The boy laughed a little before embracing Derlik again. “Thanks, dad…”
Derlik lauhed as well, his arms wrapped securely around Kye as they hugged.
"You're welcome, kiddo," he said, smiling affectionately.
"And of course I'm not! It is my job as a parent to be boring." Derlik did his best to keep a straight face as he said this, holding back laughter.
"Bullshit! You're the furthest thing from boring. Hell, not being boring is what brought us here in the first place," he exclaimed, obviously referring to the fact that they had a new addition to their mixed up "family." Kye noticed how hard Derlik was trying not to laugh, and thus began to shift in the god's hold. He moved an arm up, just to poke him in the cheek. "Come on, you can't deny that you're fun. Your ego's too big for that," he said, taking a small jab to get him going again.
(Derlik: wow i can't believe i got roasted by my son)
(Kye: ^w^)
Derlik listened as Kye continued on, snorting when he finally finished before he burst out laughing.
"Oh god, you're right!" The god let out rolling laughter, pulling Kye close and kissing his head. He felt proud in that moment, seeing how far Kye had come. How far their relationship had come, from a small scared child in the palm of an unfeeling god to this.
"Grossss," he said, pretending to be disgusted, and struggling weakly. They both knew he loved the attention. That he constantly craved it. That was quite possibly the real reason that Kye was okay with the current situation. All because it got him more attention.
Derlik laughed some when Ky tried to pull away, bringing him closer to start pressing kisses all over his head.
"Oh, is this gross~?" The god laughed again, pulling his son close. He knew Kye loved attention, and Derlik always made sure he was given all the attention he could want. He doubted the possibility of it having nothing to do with how Kye had reacted to taking Blake. The boy now had someone who'd be with him even when Derlik couldn't be, and how much more attention could one get than that?
"Yes!" he exclaimed, still making false attempts at getting free. He laughed right along with Derlik, soaking up every second of the affection. Even after all this time, Kye found it funny how he alone had made the god of chaos turn into someone so caring. Well, caring to him. He still didn't know how it happened. It just… did. And he was thankful for it. Now, the words Derlik had told him once were true: He was taken care of, and he had never wanted for anything more.
Derlik kept up the kisses for a few more seconds, then pulled Kye into a hug, snuggling close.
"I love you, kiddo," the god said, smiling as he held his son close. He'd never intended to fulfill his words, but here he was. He was glad for it too, to have Kye in his arms, to be a happy little family together.
