Derlik smiled gently, petting Smoke lightly and setting the soul back down in his hands.

Smoke took it carefully, leaning into Derlik's hands with a pleased little purr.

Derlik was glad Smoke was feeling better about this, holding the cat close and petting him.

Smoke tucked the orb into his pocket, leaning into the pets and purring.

Derlik smiled, scratching behind Smoke's ears a moment.

Smoke purred happily.

Derlik smiled, glad Smoke was happier now.
"Do you think Nik has slept long enough?" he asked gently.

Smoke frowned a little bit. "It's nighttime. Isn't he supposed to sleep until morning?" he pointed out. "If he doesn't get enough sleep he gets cranky."

"Mm, I see. And what of you? Shall you be sleeping any time soon?" Derlik chuckled faintly.

Smoke scrunched up his face a little. "Cats are nocturnal." he said, as if this was something Derlik should already know.

"You're not a cat right now," Derlik pointed out in turn. He lightly ruffled Smoke's hair.

Smoke cocked his head a little bit. "But…" he frowned.

"Hm?" Derlik tilted his head in turn.

He shook his head. "I'm still a cat."

"Part cat," Derlik conceded. He giggled a bit.

He cocked his head, ears twitching a little.

Derlik hummed a bit, petting Smoke's head again.

Smoke leaned into the touch contentedly.

Derlik eventually laid down, bringing the young boy with him.

Smoke closed his eyes tiredly, humming for just a moment.

Derlik rested his head on Smoke's neck, yawning a bit.

Smoke squirmed a little to get comfortable, curling up in a little ball.

Derlik wrapped his arms around Smoke more securely, leaning into Nik as he slept.
"Night…"

Nik continued to sleep silently. Smoke purred quietly. "G'night…"

Derlik closed his eyes, dozing off to sleep for the night.

Smoke eventually fell asleep as well.

Derlik awoke first in the morning. He stayed laying down, smiling a bit.

(so I was listening to music and I heard "You'll be Back" from Hamilton and…it kinda fits Derlik and Nik, in all honesty. If you imagine the song as being sung by Derlik/from his POV lmao)

Nik was still asleep, curled on the boulder with dark curls falling into his face.

(that's… Exactly what it be like though XD)

Derlik sat up, humming a bit. He pushed the hair lightly out of Nix's face, humming a lullaby faintly.
