(gotta go soon sorry)
Smoke kept sleeping, curled up in a little ball for warmth. Nik shook his head again. "You can't change the past." he said.
(gotta go soon sorry)
Smoke kept sleeping, curled up in a little ball for warmth. Nik shook his head again. "You can't change the past." he said.
(okay then!)
"But I can change what people remember, and that's just as good as it." Derlik reached up, carefully holding Nik's head with one hand.
"I… They wouldn't remember it was you," Derlik said gently.
"You can't change everyone's memories. There were…a lot." he said quietly, eyes still closed.
"I can damn well try," Derlik said gently. He held Nik close again, letting out a soft breath.
(Damnit, you found the one freaking thing that would get Derlik to freaking care without a ton of freaking hard work at him.)
(:P oops)
He shook his head again, still curled up on himself. Smoke woke up with a soft mew, stretching and blinking over at them.
Derlik ran his fingers through Nik's hair, looking up at Smoke when he heard the kitten. He sighed faintly again.
Nik closed his eyes, taking a deep breath. Smoke shifted, looking at them. "What's going on?" he asked curiously.
"Nik isn't feeling really good right now," Derlik explained gently. He held Nik close, raising one hand up to the shrunken boy.
Smoke frowned. "Why not?" he asked, eyes flickering from Nik to Derlik. "Did you do something to him?"
Derlik shook his head a bit.
"We… Ran into someone that Nik used to know," Derlik said gently.
Smoke still seemed confused. "I don't understand." He said.
"I… He just had a bad experience with the person." Derlik held Nik close still, rubbing his back.
Nik glanced up at Smoke, wanting to hold the kitten, but…Smoke was currently a tiny human, not a cat at all. Smoke cocked his head. "Oh."
Derlik looked up when he saw Nik glance at Smoke.
"Do you want to help Nik?" He asked gently of the kitten.
Smoke nodded eagerly, shifting closer. "Mhm." Nik closed his eyes again.
Derlik reached up to Smoke, tucking his cheek gently and turning him back to a normal sized kitten. He picked Smoke up, moving him over to Nik.
Smoke mewed softly, squirming until he was pressed up close to Nik's chest. Nik shifted to wrap his arms around the kitten, holding him close.
Derlik held Nik and Smoke close now, not saying anything. He ran his fingers through Nik's hair.
Nik kept his eyes closed, holding Smoke close to his body.
Derlik held Nik close, still running his fingers through Nik's hair and over his back.
Nik took a deep breath, still holding onto Smoke.
"No one is going to hurt you like that anymore," Derlik promised gently.
Nik shrugged slightly, still holding onto Smoke.
"That includes me. I'm not going to hurt you." Derlik sighed, watching Nik.
"You already did." Nik replied quietly, not opening his eyes. Smoke stayed pressed close to Nik, purring quietly.
