Finally, finally Derlik came back to the booth. He raised an eyebrow, moving back to his side.
"Might I ask who you are?"
Finally, finally Derlik came back to the booth. He raised an eyebrow, moving back to his side.
"Might I ask who you are?"
Nik's eyes flickered to Derlik for a moment, then back to the other man, unsure what to say.
The man frowned, eyes flickering over Derlik. "Was gonna take him for the night, unless you've already paid?" he spoke as if Nik wasn't even there; as if the smaller man didn't have a choice, like he was something to be bought and sold and passed around.
Derlik growled a bit in the back of his throat.
"Sorry to disappoint, but he doesn't do that anymore. Fuck off." He wrapped his arms around Nik, a bit protective. Alright, maybe a lot protective.
The man snorted faintly. "Once a whore, always a whore. He'd do it again for the right amount. Wouldn't you, darling~?" he looked at Nik with a smirk.
Nik shook his head wordlessly, hands trembling a little bit.
Derlik's arms tightened around Nik a bit. He actually picked Nik up, setting the man in the other side of him so Derlik was between the man and Nik. He leaned forward, grabbing the man's chin and pulling him down.
"If that's so, you would too, wouldn't you? You're more of a whore than he ever was."
The man laughed a little, seeming rather unbothered by Derlik. "Of course I wouldn't." he replied with a faint sneer.
Derlik smirked evilly, resting one hand on the man's head.
"Yes you would," he said gently, his influence crashing into the man in waves. There was no getting out of this.
The man frowned a little, shifting.
"How much would it take?" Derlik asked, voice rich and deep.
"For…what." the man said slowly, looking up at Derlik with narrowed eyes.
Nik was trembling a little bit, his breathing uneven.
"For you for the night." Derlik smirked again. He glanced over at Nik, smirk dropping. He pulled away from the man, carefully turning back to Nik.
"Are you okay..?"
Nik shook his head a little bit, looking down at his hands. He didn't trust his voice, closing his eyes.
Derlik hesitated, then gently reached out to rest his hand on the table in front of Nik.
"I… I swear I would never do this to you," he said gently. "That's not… I would never."
Nik swallowed faintly. He only shrugged his shoulders in reply, covering his face with a hand.
Derlik watched Nik a moment.
"Perhaps… It's best to stop this for the day," Derlik said gently. "Are you okay to leave?"
He nodded a little bit, but didn't move from his seat.
Derlik watched Nik a moment, then carefully reached out. He picked Nik up again, leaving him normal size though. He held Nik to his chest, carrying the man out of the bar.
"I…" Derlik fell silent, simply holding Nik. He also let Smoke wake up slowly…
Nik kept his eyes shut, trembling faintly in Derlik's arms, curling into a little ball.
"I… I've got you. And I'm not gonna let anyone hurt you like that." He started gently rubbed Nik's back, keeping him close. He was completely different than how he had been with Nik before. It was one thing when Nik got upset over something he did- it was another when someone else caused it. He was gentle, doing his best to help. Like how he was with Smoke.
Nik took a deep breath. He had thought he could just…just stop, and leave all that behind. Leave it in the past and keep going, be someone new. Not…that. But…but no matter where he was, it seemed, that was what people would always know him as. A whore. A prostitute.
"You're not that way anymore," Derlik said softly. It seemed he was paying a very close eye to what Nik was thinking. "I swear, the next man who does that to you won't be able to remember his own name, let alone who you used to be."
Nik glanced up at him. Something had changed. Some light had gone out in his eyes, and he just looked so, so tired. "It won't change anything." he said quietly.
"I'll- I'll make it change, Nik." Derlik hated this. He hadn't wanted that light to go out. He wanted Nik to, to still be okay.
He closed his eyes, shaking his head a little. "You can't change it."
"I can, I swear I can. I'm a god, Nik, I can make it change!" Derlik held Nik close, and in a moment they were back in the clearing. He set the sleeping, tiny Smoke down on the boulder, sitting down with his back against it with Nik in his lap.
