A loose floorboard it was, then. Mycah started towards where they thought they remembered one being, walking carefully and slowly.
A loose floorboard it was, then. Mycah started towards where they thought they remembered one being, walking carefully and slowly.
Winter kept testing the kitchen appliances, a soft frown tugging at his lips.
Mycah found one of the loose boards and pried it up, happy to find a decent area for hiding stolen money underneath. They opened up the bag and took a little bit of money out, then stuffed the rest in the hole and put the floorboard back. "How's the kitchen?" Mycah called, standing up.
Winter sighed. "Well, two of the four burners on the stove work, and I don't know about the oven. The dishwasher is busted, and the sink only trickles." he replied.
"Is it clean water, or not?" They asked, walking into the kitchen and looking around. "We can just hand-wash dishes for now, and a mini-oven might work." Mycah mused, frowning slightly. "What about a refrigerator?"
Winter shrugged a little bit. "It's…decent water." he replied. "And the fridge is unplugged. I have no idea if it works."
"Okay." Mycah nodded. "We should probably stay away from refrigerated things until we know if it works or not, then. Ready to go on that walk?"
Winter plugged in the fridge to let it get started. "Hopefully it won't explode." he said with a laugh. "And…yeah."
"Yeah, that would be nice if it didn't explode, or catch on fire, or anything else like that." Mycah laughed along with Winter. "To find a supermarket first, then maybe look for jobs, right?"
Winter nodded. "Yeah. We can ask the poeple at the supermarket about any jobs they know of, too." he replied, heading towards the door.
"We might even find a job at the supermarket." Mycah shrugged, following him to the door. This whole experience was kind of funny– they'd just finished robbing a bank, and now they were going shopping.
He laughed softly at that, stepping outside. "That would be entertaining. And easy." he replied, holding the door for Mycah.
"It really would." Mycah agreed, giving Winter a thankful smile and waited for him to exit as well so they could lock the door. "Maybe they have enough spots for both of us? That would be really nice."
Winter stepped outside, and nodded. "Mhm. Probably wouldn't pay a lot, but that's fine."
"As long as it pays." Mycah locked the door, then started walking towards the road. "I wonder how long we got until our neighbors start noticing us."
He shrugged. "I don't know. We better hope that they don't know the real owners." he said, shaking his head.
"Yeah…" Mycah sighed. It would be really annoying if they had to leave this house and find another, and even more so if they had to leave the town entirely. "Let's hope they're all new and moved in after the old owners had already left."
He nodded a little bit. "Yeah. That would be great." he replied, looking at Mycah with a soft smile.
"Hmm." Mycah started towards the main road, which would hopefully lead them to a supermarket and a few open jobs. They really didn't feel like walking too far, but it would be just their luck to have it be like that.
Winter walked with Mycah, quiet, his hands tucked in his pockets. "We need to figure out where everything is located here." He said aloud.
"Agreed. I'm not a fan of wandering around like idiots every time we have to find something." Mycah adjusted the backpack on their back. "We can do that once, but every time after that… no thanks."
Winter smiled a little, and nodded. "Yeah." He replied, stretching and letting out a breath.
Mycah turned onto the main street, racking their memories for the location of a supermarket. They had a vague memory of going to one when they had been here before, but the location of it was lost.
Winter kept walking down the street, unsure where anything was and hoping that they were going the right direction.
"I really should have remembered this place better. It would make all this so much easier," Mycah sighed, glancing down a street before shaking their head and continuing along the main street.
