“We sure did,” Cyrus sighed. He sat down near Uriah, his injured leg out straight, but his other knee tucked up to his chest.
“But at what cost?”
“We sure did,” Cyrus sighed. He sat down near Uriah, his injured leg out straight, but his other knee tucked up to his chest.
“But at what cost?”
Luna sat down on the other side of Uriah right next to him. If something happened she could react, and then everything would be fine. Right? She looked to Cyrus, "I-I d-don't kn-know."
Cyrus tried adjusting how he had his leg fixed up. The circulation was beginning to be cut off, and his toes were beginning to feel a bit numb.
He ended up removing everything. He didn’t really need to walk on it anymore.
“Do you guys think we should just try to rush back?” he asked.
"M-maybe," Luna said quietly as she watched Cyrus, "W-we m-might b-be a-able t-to h-help U-Uriah b-better th-there."
“That’s what I was thinking,” Cyrus said.
He held his knee still, but carefully moved around his ankle and toes on that leg to hopefully get some feeling back in.
“Sparrow? What do you think?”
"I think that is a good idea. It isn't too long a walk from here, a day or two at most, but we will be better suited to help him there."
(We can skip to the guild and have Uriah all better then we can have the epilogue. And that'll be the end of part one.)
(I'm good with that.)
(Fine with me)
(Ok)
A day had passed since the killing of panther and Sparrow was sure the members had found out by now. They didnt have a long way to go now, just over the hill and through the next bit of forest and they would be there before evening hit. Sparrow turned her head too look at Cyrus, who was walking on her left side, before turning to look at Uriah, who she was helping by acting as a human crutch.
“You think that things might actually get better, now that he’s gone?” Cyrus asked, “I’m worried.”
"He did threaten many members including us, maybe they ran, finally free?" Sparrow offered. Staying optimistic was the only thing they had that was allowing them to make sense of their trauma. Sparrow was not looking forward to the days that passed after they got home.
“That’s what I’m hoping,” Cyrus replied, “If not, I think… I think it might be time to flee and assume new identities.”
Cyrus’ gaze was a little blank at this point. That didn’t even sound like a good idea. He just wanted to disappear. He wanted it to be over.
Luna walked silently with them. She was helping Uriah walk as well and she just wanted to get back to some place that wasn't trying to actively kill her. That would be the best even though they weren't in any danger at the moment.
(Sorry guys. I took a nap and it lasted way longer than it should have.)
"Guys, I told you I'm fine already." He felt much better. He was more hydrated, definitely needed more rest though and his wounds were healing nicely. They were all just worrying too much. Sure he had a slight limp, that would be there forever, but he didn't mind that. The only thing was, he was going to quit being an assassin, but telling the others would be hard. He had other things that he needed to take on now, like his father's company. With Panther gone, he should be fine.
"Yeah no. If you take another step you will falter and fall." Sparrow deadpanned.
(Quick question, how would you guys describe sparrow?)
(Kind, strong mentally, strict and not afraid to take charge when needed. She thinks of others before herself, but when pushed to far a can snap, and doesn't take kindly to being lied to or having secrets kept from her. That's what I think at least. Hope it helps a bit.)
Uriah sighed, being watched over and helped constantly, was something he never wanted. Uriah was going to need time to get used to. "I have something I need to talk to you all about. Think we can sit down somewhere?"
Luna looked up at Uriah. She understood he needed to get used to his new physical problems, that much she had seen already. But like infierno was she going to let him try walking alone right now, "I-I don't s-see why n-not."
(That helps a lot, thanks illy!)
"Well we are almost to the guild, how about waiting a couple minutes until we are within their sights so were a bit more safe?" She asked, gesturing to the tree line where they could see the tallest points of the guild poking up from the valley
"Yeah.. good idea." Uriah walked the best he could, but knew that he was slowing everyone down, especially the girls. "Again I'm sorry." He looked over to see if Luna was holding up well. He knew she was having a hard time. But they all were, he was just worried about her.
Luna was doing fine, physically at least. Mentally, she was still recovering from the flashback and everything that had gone down at her old guild. She glanced up at Uriah still just extremely happy he was not dead, "Y-you're here a-and you're a-alive. Th-that's all th-that matters r-right now."
"Yeah, stop being so hard on yourself." She tried for a smiled but stopped after a bit. Not too long later, the group of 4 appeared at the base of the guild and saw a few guards rushing towards them.
Up in the window, surrounded by a pile of books and notebook paper, Nathan was trying to write down a recipe for snickerdoodles when he heard a commotion outside the open window. He peeked out and gasped in happiness and shock. Running out of his private room, he ran to the common room the four of them shared to tell the good news. "Guys! They're back!"
Katya popped up from her bed when she saw Nathan. She had a little grin on, "Really? Then what are we waiting for! Let's go!"
Vida smiled.
“Yeah? I knew they could do it!” she cried out.
Cyrus held his hand up towards the guards, slumped awkwardly over one of his crutches.
“It’s just us,” he called, “Panther’s dead, after all this time.”
Nathan gestured and ran out the guild, running to the group with a bug smile but slowed when he saw the condition they were in. His smiled dropped and he approached them carefully. "Welcome back." He said slowly
Sparrow smiled tiredly and waved to Nathan. "We need to get Uriah to the nurses and have a medic check him. Immediately." She said, running a hand through her hair and sighing
Katya ran down after but stopped at the door. They all looked awful, in more ways than one. She gave them a smile and wave from the door.
Luna watched as the children slowed down after seeing them. She had the energy to give them a little smile even though she had never really talked to any of them all that much.
“Right,” Cyrus said, “Are the two of you okay? I figure while we’re at the infirmary…”
He kept moving forwards. Some bruising had developed on his underarms from just how much he had been walking with the crutches. He looked at Nathan with sad eyes. He shouldn’t have to see them like this.
At least Cyrus had cleaned most of the blood from his body, only leaving some under his nails, clung into facial hair, and on his clothes. He didn’t want anyone else to know exactly what he had done.
Luna looked over at Cyrus. She gave him a slight nod, "I-I'm fine. J-just a b-bruise on m-my neck a-and the a-accidental cuts."
Cyrus was the first to go inside. He wanted so badly to just collapse in bed and not get up for days. He was just so tired. He led the way up to the infirmary and let a few of the medics know what was going on so they could prepare to treat Uriah.
Luna followed up behind while she watched Katya trail behind them staying quiet. She helped Uriah down onto an infirmary bed and then stood beside him. She wasn't going far no matter what they tried.
