"And what did you name her?" She asked, leaning in closer to inspect the small creature. She was indeed very very small.
"And what did you name her?" She asked, leaning in closer to inspect the small creature. She was indeed very very small.
“I named her Greenie. She wanted her hair dyed green before she went under anything, so now her tiny hair is green.” He laughed sadly and stroked her head. She sung out again.
Greenie…" She echoed. Sage gentle stroked the tiny monster's head, her fingers gently brushing Werry's. SHe could only imagine how this must've made him feel. He was close to these patients. And he'd watched them change from human to monster. He'd carried the grief and shame and guilt all these years by himself.
Little Greenie sung out loudly again, shuffling so her long limbs flailed to get herself up Werry’s chest. She snuggled into his neck, singing out again as she furled up.
Blue hooted for Sage’s attention, nudging her tummy with his hands.
Sage looked down to Blue and picked him up, holding him close. She stepped away from Greenie and Werry. "This….was a lot of knowledge to take in…" She laughed a bit nervously.
Blue hooted loudly, jumping in her arms to kiss her cheeks.
Werry sighed softly, dipping his head. “Sorry. I know it’s very sudden. I wish I could help fix it…”
Kissing his head as he pressed hundreds of kisses to her cheeks. He was as filled with love as she'd remembered. "This is better than what I'd expected." She lifted Werry's head, a gentle hand on his chin. "I expected him to be dead."
Werry blinked as his chin was tilted up, his eyes widening a little. “O-oh. Well… I-… thank you, I think… I’m glad I could help… but I kind of disfigured him a lot, didn’t I?”
Sage shrugged. "You tried your best. For him. And that's all I could ask for. He may not look the same, but he's the same sweetheart he's always been." She pressed a fierce kiss to Blue's head. "And I love him all the same."
Werry blinked, biting his lip. “I… I don't know what to say…” He softly admitted as Blue screeched happily, reaching up to return the kiss with a million of his own.
Sage laughed as she was bombarded with kisses from Blue. She managed to lean down and press one to Werry's forehead. "You don't have to say anything." She said through laughter.
Werry couldn’t help a slow smile as he was kissed. Blue hooted and hopped, before continuing to kiss her face all over.
Sage squealed and held Blue high. "B-Blue! Calm down, mister. I love you, too!" She laughed. "But now it's time for bed. I'm tired, Werry is tired. And you should be tired too."
Blue hooted loudly and got up, hopping around the room and flailing his arms. He didn’t seem very tired.
Werry yawned and stood, shuffling to the bed. “Yes, Blue, dear, come on. Sleep with Greenie and I.”
"Just a quick nap, Blue." She added. "It won't a long." SHe sat down on the bed, patting the spot next to her.
Blue hopped over and onto the bed, wiggling around. He crawled into her lap, cooing.
"Thank you, buddy…." She yawned, pulling Blue into her arms and laying down. SHe curled up about the little monster and sighed.
Blue cooed and shut his eyes, snuggling into her chest happily.
Werry turned his back and gave her some space on his bed. He curled up around Greenie and sighed softly.
Sage shut her eyes as well, sleeping taking her over in an instant. "Good night…." She muttered.
Greenie sung a note of good-night, and Werry chuckled softly. “Good night.”
The next morning, Sage was up before everyone else. She'd decided to take a quick shower and hand wash her close. Even though she hadn't asked, she sat with one of Werry's lab coats on and buttoned up as her clothes dried.
Werry stirred rather late the next morning, when Blue woke up with many hoots and hops. Werry grabbed the monster, slowly sitting up. He caught sight of Sage and waved a little bit.
Smiling, Sage waved back. "Good morning." She greeted Werry. "Good morning, Blue."
Werry grunted and stood. “Whatcha doing with one of my lab coats?”
Blue hooted and hopped across the floor to her.
"I- um… I'm wearing it. My clothes are drying, I hope you don't mind…" Sage answers as she scooped Blue into her arms. She kissed his head.
Blue cooed softly and snuggled into her arms.
“I could’ve just thrown them into my dryer for you, you know,” Werry said skeptically.
"I didn't know we had a dryer and I didn't want to wake you." Sage answered. "But I can do that now and sit in the bathroom so you can have the lab coat back if you'd like." She offered.
“Nah, you can keep it.” Werry rose and grabbed her wet clothes. “I’ll go toss these in real quick.”
"Oh…thank you." She replied. And only then had she realized her words. She had said 'we' as if it belong to her as well.
Werry didn’t seem to notice as he walked from his room, shutting the door behind him. Blue hooted softly, curling up into her hands.
