(Do we wanna work something out in PMs before continuing?)
(Probably, you want to start it or should I?)
(I don't really have a preference either way aha. I can, if you would prefer!)
(I can do it lol.)
When the sun had risen on the Saturday morning of their day-trip, Phoenix had already gotten up and started to get ready. He had gone and bought snacks earlier in the week, having them all packed up in a fabric cooler he could carry to put in the back of his car. He had a feeling they would probably get hungry, and didn't want to stop a million times on the way.
So with that packed up, and being completely dressed and ready to go, he shot Cicada a text to let her know he was on her way over. Yes, it was a bit early, but he had made sure to give her a couple hours after he had woken up. It was seven a.m. after all, and he didn't want to lose any more daylight.
Cicada had gotten up around six to get ready since she knew they needed to leave to go wherever they were going. Phoenix hadn't told her where they were heading, and she was fine with the surprise. Her phone buzzed as she was brushing out her wet hair and she smiled seeing the text. She sent back a smiley face before grabbing her own little day trip bag with a portable charger, a water bottle, her wallet, and her phone. She had to use a bag since she had decided that she would wear a dress today. Why? Well, why not. She didn't like dresses overall, but she would wear them willingly every once and a while.
Phoenix had made his way down the stairs, trying to be quiet for any of the other sleeping students. He could feel his phone buzz in his pocket, but couldn't get to it with his full hands. He put the thought in the back of his mind for a minute, as he pushed the door open to the building to get out to his car. Besides the sound of the door closing it was pretty quiet outside. After making it up to his car he set down the cooler to check his phone.
With a light chuckle, he stuck it back in his pocket so he could get the car started and drive over to Cicada's building. And he did, as soon as the cooler was placed in the back.
Cicada made her way down to the front door of the dorm where Phoenix was going to pick her up. She fiddled with the strap on her bag as she waited. She checked her phone ever so often to see if she got a text from Phe.
After a minute or so, Phoenix pulled up to her building and smiled at the sight of her. When he brought the car to a stop, he rolled down the windows and unlocked the car. "Hey beautiful. How are you, this morning?"
"I'm good how are you?" Cicada smiled happily at him as she opened up the passenger side and stepped in. She had a pair of sunglasses resting on top of her head and they stayed there while she sat down and buckled up, "Thin you can tell me where we're going this morning? Or do I have to wait till we get there?"
"I'm doing alright," Phoenix smiled lightly, leaning over and kissing her cheek. "But you're gonna have to wait. It's a surprise for a reason. I wouldn't want to spoil it for you." He added with a grin. Pulling back from her, he noted her bag and started to pull back to start on the road. "You can put that in the back, if you want."
Cicada leaned into the kiss before it ended and she leaned back in her seat. She left the bag on her lap and pulled out her phone from the bag before twisting to put the rest of it in the back, "You're no fun. But I'm sure I'll enjoy the surprise whenever we get there. I'm guessing it's a long drive since we left so early?"
Phoenix stuck his tongue out playfully, smiling lightly. "It's kind of far, yeah. But I wanted to get there earlier in the day, so we had some time to go out for dinner. If we had left later in the day, I'm pretty sure it would be after nine o'clock at night." He hummed a little, pulling his own sun glasses from the glove compartment when they pulled up to a stop light.
"That's pretty far," Cicada responded hearing his estimates. She let him do his things as she settled down with a happy laugh and smile, "But I'm really looking forward to it. It'll be nice to just get away from college and all of that to spend time with my boyfriend."
Phoenix chuckled lightly, pushing the black framed glasses up on his nose. He seemed to be in a good mood, despite having to get up so early. "I agree, besides the fact you're my girlfriend. Not boyfriend." He chirped a bit, still smiling lightly.
"Oh yes, if you had a boyfriend and me," Cicada flipped her shades onto her face, just so she could peer over the top of them at him. She wanted to be a bit dramatic which reflected her mood at the time, "Then we would need to have a little talk."
"You with me, or my hypothetical boyfriend? Because I'd honestly be scared to hear what you has to say to me." Phoenix admitted with a slight laugh, glancing over to her. He was still happy, and relaxed, despite the nervousness laced with his tone.
Cicada could hear the nervousness and laughed once more. She almost bumped his arm lightly, but didn't and instead pushed her glasses back up, "You, your hypothetical boyfriend just gets a fist full of flames. But don't worry okay? I won't give the talk unless I need to."
Phoenix laughed lightly, smiling a bit. He kept glancing over to her, but made sure to pay attention as well. "I should probably go warn him, then. Probably breakup with him, for good measure. Nobody gets hurt that way." He hummed a little, pushing his glasses on top of his head.
"Oh definitely," Cicada kept laughing as she pushed her glasses up as well. She was done playing the diva… For now. She had a bright smile on, "Let me know once it's done and then I'll hurt him. No evidence to you!"
Phoenix chuckled lightly, glancing back over to her once again. In a teasing manner, he smiled softly and started to speak. "That'll be quite difficult. I'm pretty sure he's moving out of the country, and is never coming back. He either said Paris or Tokyo. I can't remember which."
“Eh, if it’s Tokyo I’ve always kinda wanted to go there,” Cicada replied with a shrug and teasing smile, “But I won’t follow after him if that’s what he’s doing.”
"Well, looks like he's safe for now. Me on the other hand, I'm not so sure." Phoenix chuckled lightly, scanning the mostly empty road ahead of them. "But you want to go to Tokyo?"
"I mean, who doesn't want to go to Tokyo?" Cicada laughed as a reply. She was rubbing her neck a little before she reached back to grab her water bottle from her bag, "I've been around most of the US, and I always thought getting to travel to different countries would be kind of fun."
"That's true… maybe we'll have to do it together, some day." Phoenix hummed a little, pulling up a light smile as he drove. The thought of it sounded like fun, to him. "We could conquer the rest of the world, once we do here."
