"I- um…" Phoenix trailed, glancing out the window before turning back to her. He shook his head a little, seeming to clear his thoughts. "Sorry, what? I- um… I'm kind of distracted."
"I- um…" Phoenix trailed, glancing out the window before turning back to her. He shook his head a little, seeming to clear his thoughts. "Sorry, what? I- um… I'm kind of distracted."
"What's going on with you?" Cicada asked concerned reaching out for his arm. She was now really worried for him slightly dragging him towards the bed, "Come on sit down."
Phoenix let her pull him along, slowly sitting down with her. He looked at her, focusing his gaze and thoughts on her. What had he been thinking? He shouldn't have asked to talk to her— he would only worry her a lot more. She wouldn't be able to sleep at night because of this. "I- um… I dunno… bad night sleep?"
"Your actions seem to be a bit more than just bad sleep," Cicada told him softly. Her smile seemed to have all but disappeared being completely replaced by concern, "If you don't want to talk that's fine, but you came over here for a reason."
"I- um…" Phoenix trailed, picking at his jeans. He couldn't decide with his thoughts going back and forth. Should he, or should he not tell her what had happened last night? Glancing up to her, he gave her a nervous look before muttering under his breath. "He followed us…"
Cicada felt her blood run cold as she heard his words. It was faint, but if she was right then that really wasn't good, "Ummm, really? How do you know?"
Phoenix continued to fidget with his sleeves, eyes looking anywhere but at her. "I… I bumped into him." He replied just as quietly, his voice a little rough sounding.
"Oh," Cicada replied her voice going quiet. Why was he here? For her? But why hadn't she run into him yet. Probably because she hadn't really left the dorm. And Phe ahd bumped into him, which means… "Oh Phoenix, are you okay?"
Phoenix glanced up at her when she spoke again. Slowly he started to shake his head, before pausing. "Physically, or emotionally?" He asked in a soft tone, not even a hint of joking there.
"Either, both," Cicada replied with maybe the smallest hint of a smile. She was freaking out, but was more worried for Phoenix at the moment.
Phoenix slightly shook his head again, running a hand through his hair. "Emotionally, I'm… I'm kind of a wreck. But what's different?" He weakly laughed, starting to play with his clothes again. The more attention he drew to himself, the more it was obvious he hadn't changed from the day before. He seemed… dirty. Physically covered with dirt, on mostly his face and clothes.
"Nothing, I guess," Cicada replied looking over at him. She watched him for a moment seeing that he seemed to be worried about his appearance, "Do you need a hug?"
"I- um…" Phoenix felt his face grow a subtle pink as he looked over to her. He gave her a soft look, lightly nodding his head. "I-I'd like one, if… if you're up for it."
"Yeah, I'm up for it," Cicada replied with a soft smile as she went to wrap her arms around him. She was more than happy to help him out.
Phoenix leaned into her hug, resting her head against his. He kissed the top of her head, taking in the fact that she was alright for now. "Im so sorry… I wish this never happened… I wish I could have stopped him…"
"Hey, hey, there was nothing you could do," Cicada comforted him pushing down all of her own emotions. She was terrified and her body threatened to start shaking on its own, but she kept herself calm for Phe. So he didn't know and so he wouldn't worry about her.
"But… but I could have done better on what I had done. I-I should have known he wouldn't really leave you alone." Phoenix mumbled, burying his face in her shoulder. As much as she was trying not to worry him, he was worried. There was no changing that. "I'm sorry… I don't know how I'm going to protect you from him…"
Cicada went quiet for a moment. He, he had a point and that was what scared her. Despite her tough guy act, she would freeze the moment Cicada saw Brecken again, or worse, lash out with her flames. She didn't say anything instead pulling Phoenix close to him.
Phoenix figured her silence was a bad thing, but was honestly too tired to say anything about it. He only mumbled tired apologies over and over, growing limp in her arms. Why now was he so tired? Why couldn't he have crashed the night before, to be more calm when he delivered the news?
Cicada thought for a moment as she felt him growing heavy in his arms. She still didn't know what to say in response to what Phoenix said earlier, so instead she eventually said, "Why don't you go to sleep?"
"No, I want to be here for you… I don't want you to be alone…" Phoenix insisted, holding on a little tighter to her. He wanted to be able to protect her, but clearly couldn't do that running on so little sleep.
"You can't do that if your this tired," Cicada insisted in return looking at the state he was in. she paused for a moment, "You'll still be here with me, just sleeping. I'm not going to be alone."
"B-but I want to be able to comfort you…" Phoenix insisted, burying his face in her shoulder. He kept close to her, trying not to fall asleep in her arms. "I'd feel really crappy if you needed me, and I was just sleeping… please…"
"And I would feel like shit knowing I was keeping you up," Cicada replied softly holding him closer. She let out a little sigh before going to kiss the top of his head, "So please, please just get some rest. I'll be fine. I promise."
"Promise you'll wake me up if you need me… I won't go to sleep otherwise. You have to promise me." Phoenix insisted, eyes growing heavier. He was doing all he could not to fall asleep. "Don't lie to me. Please, just promise me. Wake me up if you need someone to talk to. Just- please."
