He nodded slightly, reveling in the return of his abilities for a moment, wondering how quickly it'd take for him to make an escape. Seconds. He smiled at the thought before forcing himself to walk into the cell where his powers were diminished to barely a whisper. At least it wasn't as bad as the cuffs. He huffed a sigh and plopped down onto the cushioned ground and gave Conner a sweet smile. "Wow, what generous people. A month in here for helping you capture that horrible, horrible man." He said sarcastically. He rested his head against his hand, squishing his cheek as Connor talked with Jake. He laughed lightly at their interaction before waving a dismissive hand "go ahead. I'll be..well, here."
Connor sighed, not wanting to leave. “I’m serious you know. They could give you a life sentence.” Connor smiled weakly. “Okay, I’ll see you tomorrow.” Connor’s shoes clicked down the hallways. He knew he would have to get up early tomorrow, but honestly he didn’t want to be there for when they gave the charges. Connor flew back his apartment as a bird and took a nice warm shower. He flopped down on his bed and stared up at the ceiling. What would happen if he kissed me…why would he…who am I kidding…I bet it would feel nice though… Connor yawned and fell asleep in instant later, dreaming about a certain someone.
"just one?" Jas joked, waving as Connor left. After making sure Connor had left and that no one was coming, Jas paced the back wall of his room, trying his best to calm himself. After a few moments he ran a hand threw his hair and growled at himself softly "you aren't helping yourself." He took a deep breath and thought back to the car ride. "What changed your mind so quickly, hm?" He murmured aloud before using what power he had left to shift into a black cat and curl up in the corner, farthest away from the door. You've had your chances and you wasted them.
The next morning he woke up groaning and sad that he woke up from his dream. He got dressed rubbing his eyes lazily. He flew to where the trial was being held. it was long and dragged out. In the end, he was very happy with the result she was just too tired to care. Instead of going home and taking a nap, he forced himself to go over the building where Jas was. You could hear his shoes clicking from down the hallway. He happened to be wearing boots that had a heel to them. He really only wore them when he was out with his friends. He saw a little black cat in the corner which made him smile softly "I have some great news…" Even though he was talking low his voice would be projected into the cell as if he were right next to him. He plopped down on the floor leaning his back against the glass. He yawned while trying to wake himself up, it wasn't working very well.
Jas hissed softly at being woken up until he noticed who had done it. He stretched gracefully and padded over to the door, having not enough of his abilities or motivation to actually change back. He reached up and tapped the glass with his paws, mewling softly at Connor. Great news? Connor and him must have very different definitions of great. Considering everything Jas had done, he had prepared himself for the worst. He narrowed his eyes slightly and tilted his head. He was sure if he was ready to have any hope for his future in this life, especially if it meant that he'd be away from Connor
Connor grinned at the cute little kitty. "You are very cute. I feel like you would be very satisfying to pet right now. Anyway, long story short, they can't really tie you to any murder since you are very good at hiding evidence. Anyway, so the charges for murder are none. There is a charge for kidnapping. Unless they just kidnapped themselves. Since you didn't actually hurt anyone on camera and there is no evidence, the charges are very low. So, that means you will be out of here in two weeks. So that means, for the time being, I'm hanging out with you because I am extremely bored right now." Connor got off of the floor. "Do you want anything to eat, I can go get some pancakes or something?" Connor ran his fingers through his hair while he was looking at the glass. "Don't judge me this glass is very reflective and I look like a hot mess right now."
Jas listened intently as Connor spoke flicking his ears and tilting his head. He'd be out in two weeks? That short of a time. He sighed in relief and meawed happily. He glanced up in slight confusion when Connor said he'd come in with him. Was that even allowed. Jas flattened his ear in worry but back away to let Connir in. He shook his head at the question about food and settled in the middle of the room, tucking his paws beneath him so that looked like a little loaf. He meowed a laugh and flicked his tail in amusement. Oh he was so glad he wasn't in his human form now, otherwise he would have laughedor teased his darling hero
Connor looked around for a moment before opening the cell the closing it when he was back in. "You are about to see something that not very many people see. In 3…2…1…" His wings popped out of his body and sighed. "It's a part of my powers that I can hide these babies, cause they have gotten way too big and I'm not living my life around them. This cell affects heroes too." Connor sat on the floor and tapped his lap. "Come on I wanna pet you." He held his arms out, making a gesture with his hands for Jas to come. Connors wings weren't just big they were at least 25 feet wide however when they were pulled in they were half that size. "I know there are security cameras, but still." He pulled them in so they would seem smaller.
Jas watched in awe as two massive wings sprouted from Connors back. He tilted his head and gave a feline smirk, as if to say since when? Since I turned into a cat? He slowly stood and padded around the room, inspecting the place as well as Connor's wings. He sniffed at them and swatted gently at some feathers. It was a sheer miracle Jas had ever gotten far when he escaped, the wings seemed to be very able to cover a lot ground in a very short amount of time. He glanced up at Connor and meowed, nervously walking forwards and nudging Connor's hand. Oh gods, why was he nervous now? Wasn't this what he wanted? He'd wanted nothing more than to be touched, to be embraced, by his dear hero. Yes, he did but not like this, not as some animal. He meowed and plopped down into Connor's lap. He guessed for now he'd take any chance he could get. He stretched up and pressed his face against Connor's cheek and neck, loudly purring as he cuddled up against Connor
Connor smiled softly when nudged his hand. He's adorable. Connor hummed when Jas rubbed against him. "You are very cute." He smiled pressed his face into Jas's belly. "You are very soft." He whispered. Connor could help but to kiss him all over. He did that with all of his pets. He would kiss their stomach, forehead, cheek, neck, and the top of their heads. Connor laid back on the ground, he picked up just placing him on his chest. "My neck is very sensitive, so pressing against it like that was mean. They also said two weeks, but the organization is trying for more weeks or as they said at least a month." As he was talking he would pet Jas, gliding his fingers across his fur. Connor suddenly grinned at the idea he had. "If you were human your head would be here and I would have been running my fingers through your hair. Do you think if I kiss you, you'll turn back and become my prince in shining armor?" Connor joked.
The more Connor pet him, the louder Jas purred. What he would give to shift back and share what time they had together as a human instead of a cat. But he'd much rather take this than not having the time at all. Jas smirked at the mentionf of Connor's neck being sensitive to touch and pressed up against him, burying his head in the crook of Connors neck and nuzzling lightly. He listened as Connor explained what the organization had in mind for him he huffed a small sigh. Of course they want a longer sentence. For what Jas had put them through, of course they'd argue longer. His purring evened out eventually as Jas continued to pet him, perfectly content with staying right where he was. Jas meowed a laugh at the thought of being Connor's 'shining armor' he bumped noses with Connor and purred. You're more than welcome to try, my hero.
“S-Stop that…” he mumbled as Jas kept rubbing against his neck. “You’re so mean…” he whined. Connor tilted his head when Jas bumped noses with him. “What is it?” Connor scratched behind his ears softly. Connor started play with his tail, wrapping it around his finger and the unwrapping it. “Now that you’re a cat it’s much easier to control you. Not say I don’t mind it when you call me nicknames. I wish I could…” Connor’s face turned a deep shade of red. “I don’t know. Okay, okay, hear me out, reading minds. I mean that has to be the coolest power ever. When you’re talking to someone you just read their thoughts. It would be funny if you read their thought while doing it with another person…” Connor sat up quickly and stopped talking or making noise in general. He heard voices from down the hallway and sighed laying back down. The people passed looking in the cell with a confused face before brushing it off. “I thought someone important was coming. Sorry, you were probably startled we’re you.” Connor kissed the Jas’s forehead.
Jas leaned into Connors hand and sighed softly. Reading minds huh? Jas mused as he watched Connor, his green eyes twinkling with amusement. He couldn't do it himself, though he had never really ventured into what his abilities were capable of. In his lives, he had mostly focused on his main abilities, since those seemed more useful. Shifting, his ability to influence dreams, and merging with grey-areas and being able to travel utilising them. He even influenced Luis Carrol's character and had later taken up the alias, Cheshire as an image to his late friend. But the thought of reading minds was never really something he thought about in much capacity. He arched an eyebrow and meowed a chuckle. He had never known Connor to be embarrassed by much save for Jas' own pining recently, he wondered what else his in his beloved's mind. Before he could react, Connor had sat up suddenly, causing Jas jump out of the way and hiss at the people walking by, his fur fluffing up in defense before they walked off. Jas watched them go and even when they dissapeared before walking back to Connor and pressing up against him, still on edge but a bit more calm, especially when Connor returned to his affection and cuddling
Connor thought for a moment. “You get jealous easily don’t you?” Connor held Jas’s head with both hands. Connor’s smile was bright genuine. “I think the one power I would love to have is-“ an alarm went off in the building and Connor growled while looking at the speaker. “I…have to go. Someone is causing trouble again…I’ll be back…I don’t know when I’ll be back, but I defined will. I would bring you with me, but then another alarm would go off. Connor stood up with Jas in his arms. He kissed his stomach, neck, cheek, and forehead. “I had…Hmm…” he stumbled when trying to find the right word. “I had fun.” He softly placed Jas down, leaving the cell, his wings disappeared as his power returned. “Sorry…” he waved with a sad smile and rushed to the monitor.
“There he is!” Jake opened his arms grabbing Connor's waist.
This sent Connor over the edge and not in a good way. He apprehended Jake once more. “Don’t touch me. What do we got?” The alarm soon stopped as he was deployed to go take care of the person messing with his time with Jas. Turned out it was more than what they anticipated, it ended up taking all night. He had to bring in the villain and it was very tiring. By the time he got back all he wanted to do was go home and sleep.
Jas sighed softly and nudged his head against Connors before he was set down. It had been fun, more than that. It had been everything he had desired for lives now. He nodded and gave Connor a little wave with his paw. Go do your job my hero, I'm not going anywhere.
After hours of pacing and sprawling out in his cell, he was given a chance to shower and eat. He took the chance out of his cell to also shift back, much to the surprise of his handlers since they saw a cat go into the showers but then a man step out. He was given a plain black shirt and pants once dried and was taken back to his cell. Awaiting there was a bag with a sandwhich and an apple as well as a blanket and a few books. He smiled softly, of course they knew his love of reading, they'd probably tracked him into countless bookshops. He settled down in his little corner and munched in his dinner while reading.
Connor trudged down the hallway, tired and annoyed. He stopped in front of Jas’s cell. “Hey you changed back.” Connor slid down the glass almost falling asleep right then and there. Connor pulled his hair in front of him, so it wouldn’t be pulling in the back. “I had the craziest day. I swear there was a bank robbery, okay, but it was done by dog. We were all confused why they needed our help to tame a dog. Here’s the thing, he was shapeshifter. So then he flew away with the pounds of money. So I had to chase after him because I’m the only one who could fly. So, here’s where it gets tricky. He takes the bag of money into this hideout thing. Everywhere surrounded by guys who like they’ve been in jail a lot. So then I was like, ‘You have got to be kidding me…’ So then I requested back up right and just my luck Jake comes. I get pissed off. After we defeated all of them considering we were in a cave and no one was around he tried to kiss me. He got really close to it too. He pinned me to the ground with iron bars, but as soon as he was about to do it I kicked him in the balls. Then I tore away the bars, flying back to here. There weren’t any cameras so it’s not like they could see what was happening.” Connor sighed pinching the bridge of his nose.
Jas glanced up and nodded "yep, they finally let me out a bit." He laughed softly and walked over to the glass door, sitting down and facing Connor. He listened with a smile, vaguely recognizing the other shifter. While Jas didn't really make many friends in his lives he of course had a reputation. And a reputation brought people to his doorstep, dogs included. He rolled his eyes and shook his head "mangy mutt." He muttered. He lost his teasing smile and raised an eyebrow at the mention of Jake. He straightened slightly and growled "oh I can't wait to personally meet this lovely hero. Maybe show him some courtesy and respect." He stood and stalked around, running his hand through his hair. "Would have beaten him with the bar." Jas muttered, half sadistically joking, half not. "Get some rest dear, you're tired." He prompted softly
Connor laughed. "if you really did kill him I wouldn't report it. I would say it happened in a tragic accident." Connor rested his head on his knees. "I know, I just wanted to say goodnight. I didn't want to leave you hanging." He leaned his head against the glass turned his head to look at Jas. "We kind of look like one of those couple in a fantasy movie who have an unbreakable glass separating them." Connor gave a sad smile. "I asked you this earlier, but you were a cat. If there was one thing you could change about me. What would it be?" Connor's eyes were fluttering closed at this point. He was ready to fall asleep, but he wanted to hear Jas's answer. He rubbed his eyes while he yawned.
Jas smiled softly as he watched Connor through the glass. "We really do, romantically tragic, isn't it?" He mused with a wink. He took a deep breath and thought for a moment, wondering how the other would react if he said something funny or brutally honest. He grinned after a bit and touched the glass. "Distance." He replied "you're too far away for my liking." He said softly, restraining a yawn himself. "And the fact that you're far too attractive. Ydo you know how much control this kitty has to have not to rip out every man's throat who looks at you like Jake does? It's exhausting." He shook his head with a laugh
Connor grinned. "Really? I'm that attractive?" he joked. "I would come in there, but if I did…" he covered his mouth while he yawned. "I would probably fall asleep. Then again I wouldn't mind falling asleep with you, it's the fact that there isn't a bed, and sleeping on the floor is not that comfy." Connor stood upon his heel and dusted the back of his pants off. "I better go." He stretched his arms out, cracking his back. he turned to face the glass. "One more question," Connor's face turned a deep shade of red as he looked at the ground. "If you weren't in the cell and you were with me. What would you do? I'm curious."
"that's what you'd focus while sleeping with me? The floor? Wow, dear." He teased, rolling his eyes sarcastically and crossing his arms over his chest. He arched an eyebrow at the question, pleasently amused by just how much Connor was blushing. He tilted his head in though, a smile creeping on his features. "Well, hypothetically speaking, if there wasn't a glass wall separating you and me, the first thing I'd do is kiss you. Kiss you sneseless, until you didn't know up from down and left from right." He grew still, eyes shining with decades, centuries, lives of want. "I'd make up for all those lives I couldn't have you as my love that we've lost. But not here. Somewhere more comfortable. Where we wouldn't have to worry about being traced or watched or needed by anyone in the outside world. Just you and me, forever after." He offered a soft smile. "Sleep well my lovely hero. I'll see you in the morning."
"That was not fair. You can't just… goodnight…" Connor slowly walked away. Did he just… He walked out of the building feeling defeated. Connor flew back to his apartment and flopped on his bead. He didn't even have time to take a shower because he was so tired. Why did he have to say it like that… Connor moved his arm on top of his face which was still red. "I hate him, I really do." His eyes fluttered shut and he fell asleep just like that with his legs hanging off of his bed. When he woke up the next morning he had to immediately head out to work. He always hated morning jobs, but at least it kept the fact that Jas would kiss him senseless off his mind.
As much as Jas knew how undeniably selfish and quite impossible his words were the moment they left his lips, he refused to take any of them back. It had been the first time in a long, long time that Jas had been genuinely honest with Connor, at least about his feelings. He watched as Connor strode out of the room, a pang of guilt hitting him. He knew it wasn't fair on either of them, on Jas for being so vulnerable with Conor and on Connor since Jas knew it wasn't realistic that Connor would even want a relationship with Jas. He took in a heavy sigh and apologies silently before returning to his his books and eventually falling asleep. He awake near noon, or what Jas assumed to be noon and hummed to himself as he ate the breakfast the team had put in his cell earlier this morning, a warm soup along with crackers. At the very least they cooked well here.
When Connor finished the morning job when he got back he was summoned straight to court. Turns out one of Jas's buddies came in and helped him. The hero association didn't want to look bad to the public so they ended reducing his imprisonment to a week. Connor liked that idea. He walked to Jas's cell know he had some free time. "So, I got better news." he was almost in a signing mood. "Basically one of your friends came and acted as a witness and everything, so basically you only have a week left in here. Your friend is very persuasive. I feel like he has been lying to the cops a lot." Connor sat on the floor again knowing he didn't want to stand. "I didn't ask who his name was I only came in for half of the session."
Jas glanced up from his book and set it down "somehow when it come to the association and better don't really go in the same sentence." He muttered softly. He perked up at the mention of his friend and grinned "damn it Suni, that sly fox." Jas threw his head back in a laugh. "Of course he'd do something like that. Yeah, he's been up to his tricks for years now but he's a good kid." He gazed off longingly for a moment before snapping his head back towards Connor. "So a week then? I'm surprised even suni was able to convince the association of such a short sentence, especially considering they were fighting for longer." He mused. "Regardless I'm glad, don't know how long I'll last in a glass cage. Though I must admit the food here is pretty good."
