"Why not?" Nik questioned, glancing at Derlik for a moment.
"Why not?" Nik questioned, glancing at Derlik for a moment.
"It doesn't like it," Derlik said simply.
His eyebrows drew together. "It's a rock. It doesn't have feelings."
"You say to the god, who's holding the cat that is routinely turned into a human, and having been turned into a doll yourself." Derlik rolled his eyes a bit.
He frowned. "What, are you saying the rock was a person at one point?"
Derlik shrugged a bit, hiding his smirk.
"You tell me."
He glared at Derlik. "Would you just fucking tell me?"
Derlik was quiet a moment.
"Yes," he finally said.
Nik blinked. "So you're saying that the fucking rock is some poor person you kidnapped?"
"No," Derlik said. "They were a sacrifice, way back when." Derlik turned to look at Nik, holding Smoke in his arms.
"What does that mean?" he asked slowly, unsure he even wanted to know.
"Well, way back when the nearby villages would tie up people to offer to me to keep me from destroying them." Derlik snorted a bit. "I had no intentions to, but hey, I was able to put the people to good use."
He grimaced. "Oh. That's…" he shook his head a little.
"Actually, some people still attempt to do it. Plus, this is the boulder I convinced them to tie sacrifices to after I got him. Ironic, yeah?" Derlik let out a faint hum.
His lips tightened into a thin line. "It's…" he shook his head again.
Derlik looked at the boulder, putting one hand on it.
"It gave up fighting me years ago."
He closed his eyes, feeling vaguely sick.
Derlik looked up at Nik.
"You doing good?" he asked.
He snorted faintly.
"You know," Derlik said softly, "I almost did something like this to you. Just leave you stuck in that doll body, take away your ability to move. Break you."
He flinched, curling into himself.
"I still could," Derlik said, voice a mere whisper.
He tucked his arms tightly around himself.
Derlik looked up at the sky, smirking softly.
"I almost did earlier."
He chewed on his lip a little.
