Derlik reached down, ruffling Smoke's hair a little. He nudged Nik a little, wanting him to see Smoke now.
Nik glanced up, eyes going wide when he saw Smoke. "What…what did you do?" he demanded, biting his lip.
"I just turned him human a bit, there's nothing to worry about. It's like when you were a cat." Derlik reached out, scratching behind Smoke's ears.
Nik hid his face again. Smoke purred happily, leaning into Derlik's touch.
Derlik cooed softly, continuing to s Smoke's head. He glanced at Nik, sighing a little.
Nik stayed curled up on himself, not looking at either of them. Smoke arched up into Derlik's hands happily.
Derlik sighed heavily. He snapped his fingers, sending out a sleep command to Nik. He slid off the rock, showering Smoke in attention.
Nik fell asleep after a minute or so. Smoke leaned into him happily, purring.
Derlik relaxed when Nik fell asleep. He smiled a little at Smoke.
"Will you do something for me?" Derlik asked.
Smoke blinked inquisitively at him, cocking his head slightly. "What?" he asked.
"Will you so your best to help Nik feel happy? He could really use your help, and I know he won't accept any from me." Derlik rested his hand on Smoke's head.
Smoke blinked. "Oh. Of course I will." he replied slowly. "But why won't he accept any from you?"
"He doesn't like me," Derlik said. "He doesn't like being here, but it's too late for him to leave."
Smoke frowned a little, not understanding. "I don't understand." he said slowly.
"I know," Derlik said softly. "He just doesn't like that you two are staying with me."
He cocked his head. "But…why are we?" He asked.
"Because it'll be better for both of you." Derlik patted Smoke's head gently.
Smoke blinked. "But we were happy in his apartment." he pointed out, still confused.
"You might have been happy, but you weren't safe." Derlik gave a small, sad smile.
"Yes we were." Smoke replied, cocking his head. "Why wouldn't we have been?"
"Because I wasn't the only God who was interested in Nik. If I hadn't come to bring you both here, someone old have killed you two." Derlik sighed softly.
Smoke frowned. "Why?" he asked, chewing on his lip a little, his ears pricked up.
"Because the others saw how much I liked Nik." Derlik pursed his lips a little.
"But…I've never seen you before." Smoke said, still confused. "So how did they know?"
"Because of when Nik was at his old job, I'd come see him a lot. It was before you were even born." Derlik sighed softly.
