“Okay,” she said simply, trying to imagine what it tasted like. Maybe she’d get the hot kind since that sounded good to her. It hit her that she was alone in the elevator with Winston, and she blushed lightly, hoping he didn’t notice.
Suddenly, the lights flickered on and off for a moment, then the entire elevator pitched them forward as it stopped.
"Daw crap," Winston groaned. "Now we have to wait for Cyborg to get us."
“How long is that going to take?” she wondered aloud, nervously. Her green eyes darted around the small space.
"How late did they get to bed last night?" he asked, running a hand over his short hair.
Starfire shrugged. “I do not know. Do we have a way to contact them?”
He patted his side, then looked around on the floor and groaned. "I left my transponder on the couch. Do you have your's?"
She glanced down and then checked her pockets before remembering it was sitting on her bed. “I do not.” She flushed a bit with embarrassment.
(Holy shit, Winston's a full 7 inches shorter than Starfire)
(lol i didn’t even think about that)
"Crap." He leaned his head back against the wall behind him and let out a sigh. "Looks like we're stuck."
(i knew she was tall but dang that’s rly tall)
“So, what do we do until then?” she asked.
He shrugged. "Not much to do except for wait."
Starfire sighed. “Well at least we have each other. Can you imagine how awful it would be to be alone in here?”
He tilted his head in thought, then shrugged. "Yeah, that would be a lot worse."
She sat down on the floor. “I do not want to stand here until Cyborg comes,” she explained with a wan smile.
Winston sat down with her, figuring she made a good point. "Guess coffee'll have to wait."
“Yes,” she agreed. She thought for a moment, unsure of what else to add. “Do you ever get tired of being the leader?”
He frowned. "Well…..not really. I lived for 15 years considered a side-kick to one of the biggest names in Gotham. Felt good to get out from his shadow and start my own thing."
She nodded. “I think you are a good leader,” she replied, testing the side of elevator before leaning against it. She smiled at him before it hit her that they were stuck here together. She glanced to the side so he wouldn’t see her blush.
He allowed himself to smile slightly, then realized the exact same thing. He felt awkward as all hell now, and scooted a little farther away from Starfire. "Thanks. I appreciate that."
“Umm…what do you like most about Earth?” she asked, trying hard to make things not awkward.
"Um……music," he finally decided. "It's a really basic answer, but it has to be music."
She smiled at his answer. “What kinds of music do you like?” she asked, curious.
