“It was not bad,” she agreed. “The midnight snack worked. How did you sleep?”
“It was not bad,” she agreed. “The midnight snack worked. How did you sleep?”
"Horribly," he grunted as he got to his feet. "Feels like there are knives stabbing into my neck everytime I turn my head"
Starfire winced. “That does sound painful,” she said sympathetically. “I just about to eat if you want to join me.”
His smile grew. "Yeah, sounds great. Anything you have in mind?"
She shrugged. “I was just going to eat whatever I could find in the fridge,” she said.
His mind wavered from the idea of cooking something, so he just shrugged. "Well, let's go see what's in there."
“Okay,” she agreed, leading the way. “There has to be something we can eat in there.”
"We can just go get something," he suggested. "There's a coffee shop just around the corner." Shit, am I asking her on a date?
“That would be great!” she enthused, totally missing the idea of it being a date. “I have wanted to try the coffee.”
He let out an internal sigh. "We should probably get changed," he admitted, looking down at his sloppy-looking clothes.
“Yes, we should,” she agreed, realizing she was still wearing her pajamas. “How about we meet back here in ten minutes?”
Winston smiled, rubbing his hands together sub-consciously. "Yeah. That sounds great."
She smiled at him briefly before turning and heading back to her room. She brushed her messy hair and teeth and then looked for something to wear. It was odd that she was having such a hard time deciding. Winston was her friend, surely he would be fine with whatever she chose to wear. She eventually settled on a lavender crop top, jeans, and sneakers. She had sort of gotten used to wearing Earth clothes, although she still wore her original clothes a lot of the time. But she decided wearing Earth clothes to a coffee shop would be less weird.
Winston didn't have nearly the struggle she did. He opened his closet and grabbed a pair of cargo shorts, (the pockets helped him carry all of his little weapons and tools in case they came across something) a black collared shirt, and tennis shoes. He was nervous as all hell as he walked out of his room, but he wasn't sure why. If she didn't consider it a date, there was no worry….right?
Starfire walked back to the living room nervously. Why was she so nervous all of a sudden? She had nothing to be nervous about. Winston was her friend, after all. She had gone places with her friends before and everything had been fine. It couldn’t be that it was just the two of them, could it? She dismissed the thought, but it still nagged at the back of her mind.
Winston walked out into the living room not even a minute afterwords, his face already a very faint pink.
"You ready?" he asked, smiling nervously.
She nodded. “Yeah,” she replied. She hoped that she looked okay and not out of place. She still worried about that sometimes. She smiled nervously back.
He walked over to the elevator and pressedd the down button, watching the little up arrow light up, signifying the elevator was in its way.
For a moment Starfire didn’t talk but she didn’t want to wait in awkward silence so she tried to say something, though her mind was racing. “Is coffee good?” was what she settled on.
He tilted his head in thought. "Do you like hot drinks?"
“Yes, is the coffee hot?” she asked. It was probably better than milk, at any rate.
(gtg sorry)
"It can be cold too, but most like it hot," he said, then watched the doors to the elevator open up.
“How do you like it?” she asked as she stepped inside. She was probably just going to get whatever he did since she had no idea what else to do.
"I like iced coffee better than hot, but you don't have to get what I get." He pressed the bottom floor button and waited for the door to close, shuffling to the side to give Starfire space.
