"I think the same for me… I'll have to check, though." Larkin pulled on a shirt as well and stretched, yawning.
"I think the same for me… I'll have to check, though." Larkin pulled on a shirt as well and stretched, yawning.
"Okay, then! It shouldn't be long for us to save up enough to pay for a place here once we're out of school." Samul lightly kissed Larkin's cheek, smiling some.
Larkin smiled softly and nodded. "Yeah, that would be nice. It'll definitely be good to be closer to this place."
"It really will be." Samul finished dressing, starting to pack his bag to go home.
"We'll get to that point soon, dear. Promise."
"Alright… if you say so." Larkin kissed Samul's cheek, finished packing, and headed out the door.
Samul walked with Larkin out to the car, getting in the driver's seat.
"You ready to jet?"
Larkin nodded and buckled himself into the passenger side. "Yep. Ready to go."
Samul leaned over to lightly kiss Larkin's cheek, then moved to start the car. Soon enough, they were back on the road, driving home.
Larkin dozed off not long into the trip, curling up on the seat to take a nap. He stirred about twenty minutes before they arrived home and looked out the window sleepily.
Samul was quiet as he drove so as to not wake Larkin up. He looked over when he saw the other stir, smiling.
"We're almost back," he said, turning his attention back to the road after just a moment.
"Mmm…" Larkin rubbed at his eyes and yawned, pushing himself up to sit properly. "Cool… what time is it?" He asked softly.
"It's close to eight," Samul said, looking to the clock. "We'll be back before nightfall, thankfully." The man hummed some, looking to the road.
"Great… what's the plan for tonight?" Larkin asked weakly, seeming pretty nervous.
Samul reached his hand over to lightly take Larkin's, giving a small squeeze.
"I'm going to try and get some treats in the oven," he said, doing his best to keep calm and help Larkin. He knew this wasn't the most fun thing to do in the world. "And afterwards I'm going to do my best to make sure we have some fun together."
Larkin nodded a bit and held tightly to Samul's hand, still seeming pretty nervous about it. "Alright… hopefully it'll be fine, yeah? We've done this lots of times."
"That's right. We're going to be okay, Larkin, I promise." Samul raised Larkin's hand to gently kiss it, giving it a small squeeze.
He nodded again, not much reassured. He was pretty quiet for the rest of the drive home, tapping one foot on the floor of the car anxiously.
Samul pulled into the driveway eventually, turning the car off and getting out. He stepped over to Larkin's side of the car, opening the door and picking Larkin up.
"I promise, we'll be okay," he said softly, kissing Larkin's head.
"Mm…" Larkin closed his eyes and wrapped his arms around Samul's neck, burying his face in the other's shoulder. "I wish there was some way to fix me…" He whispered.
"I…" Samul trailed off as he carried Larkin into the house. "I do too…" he hated how Larkin being like this hurt him, put him in danger.
Larkin clung tightly to Samul, growing tense and anxious as the night drew nearer. He was trying to prepare himself for the pain of shifting, but he knew there was no way to get used to it.
Samul held Larkin close as he made their normal preparations for the night to come. With the biscuits in the oven, he was sitting on the couch, Larkin in his lap as he ran his fingers through his lover's hair.
"I've got you," he said softly, glancing at the window. It was almost time…
Larkin gripped Samul more tightly, his breathing hitching. He groaned in pain as he began to shift, tears rolling down his pale, distorted cheeks. After a couple of minutes, he had fully transformed into a wolf and was bounding around the room as though nothing had happened.
Samul wiped at Larkin's cheeks as the other transformed, gently kissing his head. When Larkin was fully transformed and bounding around, the man let out a soft breath. He stood, glad Larkin wasn't in any more pain. He looked to the kitchen when the oven timer dinged, chuckling.
"Biscuits are done!" He declared, dodging Larkin to make it to the kitchen and get them out.
Larkin barked at Samul and sprinted into the kitchen, skidding into a cabinet. It only stalled him for a moment, however, and he was soon jumping up on Samul to try and get the biscuits.
