Shade shivers slightly, then sighs, her breathing evening out quickly. In a few seconds time, she'd fallen asleep.
Shade shivers slightly, then sighs, her breathing evening out quickly. In a few seconds time, she'd fallen asleep.
Farah was very near to sleep as well. With Shade in her arms and Alara outside their tent, Farah felt safe. Eventually, she closed her eyes and drifted off.
The next morning, Shade awoke to a delicious feeling of warmth, and last night flooded back into her mind. She grins and looks over, then gets up, pulling her clothes back on.
"Wakey wakey…" she murmurs in Farah's ear.
Farah's eyes fluttered open to see Shade putting her clothes back on. "Wait," she murmured, sitting up to admire the girl one last time before she was clothed. She smiled slyly. "Alright. Now you can put them back on."
Shade rolls her eyes.
"Get dressed." she laughs, tossing Farah's clothes at her. She takes a long, hard look at Farah before she gets dressed as well. Opening the tent, the first thing she sees is Alara.
"Morning!" she says brightly.
Farah scrunched her nose. "Hypocrite," she teased, quickly sliding into her clothes before Shade opened the tent's flap. She slipped out behind her and stepped right into the sharply amused gaze of Alara.
"Good morning," the feisty water spirit replied, sheathing her blade. "I trust you two both slept well."
It only took one pointed look for Farah to know Shade had been right – Alara had heard everything.
Shade laughs, unconcerened. She knows. she says to Farah, sending a mental snicker along with the words.
"Yeah. Anything happen happen happen during the night? You know. Besides all that." she asks, waving a hand towards Farah.
Farah tucked a loose strand of her hair behind her ear to hide her flush.
"No, it was dead and quiet," Alara replied, an amused glint in her eyes.
Farah knew that look. "Alara, please don't tell–"
The spirit winked and vanished back into her aura.
Shade laughs and lets the spirit go, watching as her aura races away on the winds.
"She won't. She know the implications of our relationship, and how powerful both of us have become since the aura transfer." she smirks.
She rouses Raul with a rough shake.
"Morning, sleepy. We've got a long ways to go." she says.
Farah shook her head. "You don't know her like I do," she murmured as Shade went to wake Saul.
The man was already sitting up in his tent. "I'm not sleepy," he protested. "I was about to come out, so hold your horses."
Shade hears Farah anyways and tosses a snort over her shoulder.
"I don't care, you slept, so you are now sleepy." she laughs.
"Get dressed quickly quickly quickly, then meet us outside. 5 minutes. If you're not ready by then, I'll collapse the tent on you." she throws over her shoulder, sashaying back over to Farah.
"Farah, is she serious?" Saul called from inside his tent.
Making sure no one was looking, the fae slipped her arms around her partner's waist and pulled her close. "Definitely," she called back, looking down at Shade adoringly.
Shade laughs. "Yes, I'm serious."
She puts her hands on Farah's hands, and whispers "You look beautiful, you know."
Farah's gaze softened. "Thank you. So do you. You're quite ravishing."
"I'll ravish you!" Shade giggles, turning and starting to tickle Farah.
Farah squeaked and batted Shade's hands away. "Stop!" she demanded through laughter.
Shade laughs at the squeak. "Hah! I have defeated you!"
"No you haven't, that's ridiculous!" Farah replied, appalled at Shade's declaration.
Shade starts tickling Farah again. "Yes I have, admit it!"
"No!" Farah cried and began laughing again. She teasingly used a gust of wind to blow Shade back a few steps.
Shade gets pushed back, and starts laughing, realizing she now has some ammount of the control Farah has. She starts using the winds to tickle Farah.
"Oh, you'll never be safe now!" she grins.
Farah shrieked. "Stop! Stop it!"
Saul emerged from his tent and arched his eyebrows. "Am I… interrupting something?"
Shade stops finally, still laughing.
"No no no, not yet at least. We should get going." she replies, collapsing the tents into nicely folded squares and putting them in bags.
"You guys ready?" she asks.
Farah nodded and looked over at Saul. He was looking at her with an odd expression, but she quickly averted her gaze before she could figure out what it was.
"Yes, let's go," she agreed.
Shade notes the odd expression and laughs slightly, the winds tickling him quickly as well before breezing away.
Soon, she, Farah and Saul were picking their way down the mountain, to the barren slate valley below. What exactly happened here to make this place like… this? she asks Farah.
