(I do, too. XD So we’ll do that!)
(XD Lol. So… When are we skipping to, then?)
(No idea.)
(Hm… Maybe a few weeks later? Ashley starts feeling the symptoms?)
(That works! You start. XD)
(Ugh, fine. Lol. Just a sec.)
Ashley rolled over in bed, groaning softly. Her stomach hurt, for goodness sake! How could it possibly hurt so bad?
With a small whimper, she curled up closer to Lucas, burying her face in his chest. Maybe she could just ignore it and go back to sleep…
Lucas normally didn’t wake up at small noises, but Ashley’s whimpers woke him up. He turned his side.
“Are you okay, Ash?” He murmured, trying to blink his sleep away.
"Mm… No," Ashley moaned, rolling over again and clutching her stomach. "It hurts…"
Lucas immediately sat up straight.
“Should we take you to the doctor?” He asked quickly, all hints of sleep vanishing. “We can’t give you medicine because we don’t know what it would do to the child… wait here, I’ll get you a hot rice pack. I’ll be quick!”
Ashley's stomach lurched, and she quickly stumbled out of bed. She hurried into the bathroom and heaved into the toilet, not bothering to close the door behind herself.
Lucas was about to go out to get some hot packs when Ashley shot out of bed, ran into the toilet and dumped out whatever that was in her stomach.
He immediately ran towards her, holding her hair back, rubbing her back softly.
“Hey, you’re going to be okay…”
Ashley heaved another few times before all that came out were dry coughs. She squeezed her eyes shut and didn't dare move from her spot, knowing there was probably vomit on her face.
"I hate throwing up," she whispered hoarsely.
Lucas kissed her on top of the head.
“I know,” he whispered. “It’ll go away soon. Let me get you some water. Take it easy, okay?”
Ashley hummed quietly in response, still not moving. She needed a rag or something so she could wipe her face off… And a bath might be nice, too.
Lucas went back to get a glass of water for his girlfriend. God, was pregnancy supposed to be this hard? He hoped Ashley would get the best of it rather than the worst. He’d heard many scary stories and he wished Ashley wouldn’t have to go through pains.
Ashley grabbed some toilet paper after Lucas left and used it to wipe her face off. She backed away from the toilet, flushed it, then leaned against the wall. Her eyelids still felt heavy, and she hoped she could go back to sleep after this.
When Lucas came back, he walked over to Ashley and handed her the glass.
“Here, drink this,” he said to her softly.
Ashley blinked up at him sleepily and gave him a tiny smile as she took the glass. "Thanks, babe," she whispered, her voice still slightly hoarse.
After she was done drinking, Lucas gently lifted her up and walked over to the bed, pulling the covers over her.
“I’ll be right back,” he said softly. “Okay? I’ll get something warm for you.”
"No, I'm fine now. Just tired. Lay with me?" Ashley asked softly, looking up at him as she reached a hand out for him.
Lucas obliged, slipping into bed and holding her tightly.
“What are we going to do about college, Ash…?” He asked her softly.
Ashley sighed and curled into him. "I was thinking about that… I'm definitely going to finish this semester, but I was thinking of taking off the semester after the baby is born. That way, I don't have to worry about taking care of them and doing homework at the same time.
Lucas tightened his hold on her. He felt terribly guilty. It wasn’t that he didn’t want the child. He loved the thought of having one with Ashley, but not at the expense of her future.
“You can always continue,” he murmured. “After all, you won’t take care of the baby alone. I’ll always be here. After all, I’ll be the dad.”
Ashley smiled at that. He was so amazing to do this for her.
“I know, love, but I think it will be good for me. I’ll need a break after having the baby. Plus, it wouldn’t forever, just a semester.”
