“Are you doing okay?” Pollux asked, “Need any more medicine, either for sleep or pain?”
He took the supplies he had and started adjusting the wing so it was folded into a natural and comfortable position that would let it heal.
Rykah did his best not to tense up too much as the other moved his wing. "I.. I think I'm okay…" he said sotly.
“Alright, well… again, let me know if you need anything,” Pollux said, heading back towards the bedroom.
He cast a quick, closed-mouth smile, hiding his teeth still.
Rykah nodded in response, curling up on the couch quietly.
Rykah had dozed off on the couch by the time morning came. The storm had passed, but it was still raining heavily, and it looked to be a rather gloomy day ahead.
Pollux had left his bedroom window open when he climbed out in the wee hours of the morning to take a walk, despite the rain. He climbed back in and dried off a bit, then walked into the living room to see if Rykah was alright. In the meantime, he made sure he’d called into work today to let them know he wouldn’t be there.
Oh, yeah… he’s gotta eat… Pollux thought.
He pulled his raincoat back on and went outside, after leaving a note on the coffee table, in case Rykah woke up while he was gone, to let him know he had gone to the store.
Rykah did wake up about fifteen minutes later, but was mostly just a sleepy boi rather than an anxious one, curling further into his comfortable spot on the couch to catch more sleep, taking advantage of the comfortable surface for once.
A few minutes after Rykah woke up, Pollux had returned from the store, a couple of bags in hand. He looked over to Rykah but couldn’t quite tell if he was awake, so he went to drop the bags in the kitchen first.
Rykah wasn't awake, but he wasn't fully asleep either. More like somewhere inbetween.
He still stirred a little when Pollux came through, his tail twitching, but otherwise…. sleep reigned.
Pollux started cooking, guessing Rykah would wake up soon enough, one way or another. He had eggs and pancake mix laid out on the counter, waiting to be used. In the meantime, he made sure any blood vials in his fridge were hidden well enough so if Rykah were to glance inside, he wouldn’t see anything.
(And I just finished applying for a job.)
Rykah did start to wake up as the smell of food filled the room. His left ear flicked in annoyance as he lifted his head quietly, trying to figure out where the smell was coming from. Not that it was a bad thing, he just wanted to sleep more.
Then… then it hit him. He wasn't at his hideout. He was in someone else's house! He tensed a little at the thought, but forced himself to relax and sit up carefully, still very aware of his bruised ribs and his wing.
(Nice! Good luck! I applied for an internship this summer but they ghosted me. Never heard back at all.)
As Pollux finished making breakfast, he went back to check on Rykah. The food was kept warm over the stove in the meantime.
“Oh, hey. I made breakfast,” he said, “And the pain meds have probably worn off, so you’re welcome to more.”
OOF….)
"I would appreciate that.." hummed Rykah, seeming a bit more relaxed than last night, though internally he was more panicky.
"And you didn't have to make food.." he added softly, instantly eeling more awkward.
“Of course I did. You didn’t want to eat anything last night. Your body needs energy to recover,” Pollux insisted, bringing Rykah a plate.
“I’ll go get you some medicine. Be right back.”
Rykah sighs, knowing he really can't argue. But he also didn't want to be more in debt to this stranger.
Pollux came back in with a bottle of pills, and he gave Rykah a couple to take.
“So, where do you live? I mean, just what part of town?” Pollux asked, simply trying to strike up a conversation.
Rykah took them, frowning at the question. "I live near where you picked me up…" he said softly. "The park is a shortcut home"
“Ah, okay. I can drop you off later. But you’re welcome to rest here as long as you need, of course. I’ve got today off,” Pollux replied.
Rykah hummed softly at that, taking the pills dry before speaking again. "I really should get home sooner rather than later…." he said softly, trying not to seem to hesitant.
“Well, okay,” Pollux said, “Just let me know when you want to go home, and I’ll take you.”
He leaned back in his seat. He didn’t want to pry too much. He never did. However, something seemed off here.
