Eclipse tensed when he heard glass shattering on the floor, rushing into the next room, "F-Felix?" he asked, scared.
Eclipse tensed when he heard glass shattering on the floor, rushing into the next room, "F-Felix?" he asked, scared.
“I-I’m fine… I just dropped something… Oh gods, I’m so sorry…” Felix replied, a very rushed and panicked quality under his voice.
The panic in the other's voice did not help Eclipse's anxiety as eclipse, by instinct, summoned a whisp of silver and black aura, gathering the pieces and putting them back together, a technique he'd used many times when he'd been pushed into something priceless and it had broken.
Felix watched in awe as Eclipse fixed the broken glassware. The floor was still wet, but Felix was too amazed to pay it any mind.
“Oh… you can do that?” he whispered.
Eclipse hummed softly, "I had to learn when theyd push me into priceless breakables in the castle." he said sadly, placing it back on the counter.
"And blame it all on you, huh?" Felix sighed, "Gods, they all sound like the worst. I can be a bit of an ass, but I already treat you better than they did. It doesn't take much. In fact, it takes more effort to be cruel to someone than to show basic kindness."
"Thanks for fixing that, by the way. My hand just slipped is all…"
Eclipse nodded quietly, not really sure if what they did was quite so wrong or not, I mean, he was the one that was different, right?"
Thyra came into the kitchen carrying an oil lamp. The shattering glass had woken her up.
"Is everything alright here?"
Felix nodded. "I just dropped something. But it's fixed now."
"Alright… just go back to resting, dear. You don't need to be up."
Felix scowled as she turned away to go back to bed.
"She's right, but…" Felix muttered to Eclipse.
"We're not gonna get anywhere if you hurt yourself…" he said softly, trying to be reasonable.
Felix frowned. "Yeah… yeah… That's all true… I'm feeling really restless and helpless, and it's making it harder for me, you know? And the pain? Damned frustrating."
Eclipse nodded timidly, not sure what to say, or do as a response.
Felix went back to sit down in the chair he'd been in, sighing heavily.
"If nothing else, I'm glad he's dead now. Won't be able to manipulate any more kids. From that perspective, it was worth it."
Eclipse nodded quietly, just listening to him speak.
Felix fell silent, lowering his head a bit. He sighed once before shifting his position. Pain lanced through his side again, and he clutched at the wound instinctively, sort of protecting it. Felix let out a soft gasp.
Eclipse had just settled on the floor again when he heard the other's soft gasp, his gaze locking on the other worriedly.
Felix moistened his lips nervously and closed his eyes.
Just go away… I can't keep going when I'm not able to move without a reminder of my stupidity.
He kept one hand over his side and steadied his breathing. Getting upset and frustrated was not going to help.
Eclipse let his gaze fall to the floor, not sure what to do anymore.
“I’m worried about you getting caught,” Felix admitted, “I don’t think I’d be trying to push myself so hard otherwise.”
Eclipse looked up at him again in sheer confusion. "Why? Why do you care?" he asked softly.
"I… I don't know, but something tells me you're definitely worth it. Your impression of me might be rash at best because of the lengths I've gone, huh?" Felix replied, "Besides, I have had a taste of what it means to be unwanted by your blood family, so I guess I'm a bit sympathetic to your situation."
Eclipse shook his head, "It doesn't make sense…" he said softly, "Why would a complete stranger care about what happens to me when my own family, my pack never did?"
"Sometimes family cares the least," Felix replied, "Not sure why… Just how it is, yeah? Makes enough sense to me."
Eclipse shook his head, still disbelieving.
"Hm… So did you have siblings? Just curious, is all," Felix said, "I had a brother, and I know that I for one was treated like less than him. By a lot of people. Not just my family."
"No… only child.." said Eclipse softly.
