Eclipse looked around the quiet kitchen he'd entered, but ended up slumping down against the wall, not even noticing the fact that he'd opened a couple of the more fresh cuts on his back with the friction against the wall.
By the stove, a girl was tending to a few things over the heat. Her eyes wandered to Eclipse.
“Can I get something for you?” she asked.
She was small and very soft-spoken. Probably fourteen at the oldest.
Meanwhile Thyra continued to tend to Felix. Once the bleeding had mostly let off, she dabbed a salve over his wounds and bandaged him up, then gave him a blanket to drape over his body.
Her eyes glanced over Felix’s ribcage, where he had multiple bruises from binding badly.
“Felix, you ought to take more care with your chest there,” she whispered, “In fact, please do.”
Felix sighed. “Yeah, yeah… you’ve told me before.”
He leaned his head back into the pillow.
“Gods above, I’m tired…”
“Don’t sleep just yet. You should eat and drink a little before that, okay?”
Eclipse looked up at her, his grey eyes full of fear. "N-No thanks…" he said softly, curling into himself even more.
“Oh… okay,” she replied, going back to stirring a pot on the stove, “What’s going on out there, if you don’t mind me asking? Grandmama usually doesn’t let me in when she’s seeing patients. Says it’s not for the faint of heart.”
Thyra ducked into the kitchen and asked for some broth.
“By the way, dear, he says you can come back in if you’d like. It’s up to you, though,” she said, looking at Eclipse, “He also said you might be hurt, so I would be more than happy to look into that for you.”
Eclipse shook his head, "I-I'm okay…" he whispered, No I'm not… I'm anything but okay I'm having a mental breakdown… e thought, but did he show that? Nope. But actually yes he kinda was.
(Oof Internet acted up and ate my reply)
“I can not force you, but just know that I’m well aware you’re lying. If you’d rather me provide you with what you need to treat yourself, then I will gladly do that,” Thyra said.
She then took the bowl of soup and returned to Felix. She helped him sit up and fed him a few spoonfuls.
“Well, you didn’t faint, and that’s saying something. In fact, you should recover pretty easily from this one. You just need to build your blood back up and rest some.”
Felix gave a half-smile. “Sure, but I don’t think I can stick around to rest quite as long as I need.”
Eclipse eventually forced himself up, "I.. I have some cuts on my back that should probably be looked at…" he said almost inaudibly as he came back in. He was still on edge, not at all comfortable around her, but knowing he could get infected or worse if they weren't dealt with, nevermind th other cuts and bruises.
“Yes, of course. Here, Felix,” Thyra said, placing the bowl steadily on Felix’s lap so he could take it and eat the rest himself.
“Would you show me? I can get salve, bandages, whatever else you might need.”
Eclipse took a deep breath, before pulling off his jacket, revealing his hair, a dead giveaway to who he was, and then pulling up his shirt, revealing a multitude of old scars, newer cuts, many gashes on his back, and several naty bruises.
Thyra pursed her lips with concern. While she recognized the young man, that was none of her concern.
Felix eyed them both closely, while still sipping down the broth he was given.
“How old are these?” she asked, pulling some various salves and ointments from a drawer.
"A week?" said Eclipse softly, "Or a moon, or three days ago… depends.." he sighed, "Lately I haven't really bothered with them… I don't feel it as much as I used to…" he hummed, half lying on his last statement, he did feel it, he just new how not to show it.
“You’re kidding, they did this to you that often?!” Felix growled.
Thyra motioned for him to calm down.
“Well then, some look like they’re healing, although roughly. The rest could use some healing salve and bandages, then perhaps you being a bit gentler on them. You’ll be fine, you just need to take care in those ways. I’ll give you a jar of this stuff to stave off infection and pain.”
"Like I said, they hated me. The only reason they'll ever care that I'm gone is the fact that they'll have you use a punching bag that won't scream." he said emotionlessly, though tears welled up at the thought.
“You don’t think someone there wanted me to-“ Felix stopped right there. “Do you…?”
Thyra carefully worked the salve over his various wounds, listening as they spoke, but clearly not judging.
"I wouldn't be shocked if it was the king himself who wanted me dead." said Eclipse quietly as Thyra worked salve into his wounds.
Felix laughed with disbelief and a sound of hysteria.
“Why?! Why on earth would anyone ever want their own child killed?! Even my father, as little regard as he had for me…”
"Because I'm hybrid." he said softly, "Unnatural." he said like it was a fact that'd been drilled into him.
“You’re not the only one of your kind, you know,” Felix said, “Those sound like words fed to you in order to suppress you. You’re no more unnatural than me or anyone else for that matter.”
"I am the only one." said Eclipse softly, "My wolf side is a hybrid. Everyone at the castle is nightshade. I'm half Luna." he laid his head down, "I'm different…"
“And that’s wrong how? Your father is your well… father, you know? It’s partially his fault you exist so he really doesn’t have a right to treat you like some sort of abomination when he ought to have known- I’m assuming, based on who your mother was,” Felix muttered, an even anger sitting under his voice. “Besides, doesn’t that mainly affect magical abilities? That’s something to be proud of, especially since it would be so unique.”
"My luna side keeps my magic weak… No one want's a weak alpha…" he replied softly. "I can't even control them anyway, so why bother?"
“Well you don’t belong with people who don’t respect you. Strength of your magic doesn’t matter. You deserve to be treated like a person. They treated you like a caged animal- perhaps worse. Nothing you say can ever convince me that was justified,” Felix fought back, “You did nothing wrong. You just existed.”
"Well then maybe it would've been better if I hadn't existed to begin with…" he mumbled quietly, his head bowed submissively.
