(me too Honor, me too XD)
"An airplane…." As he gazed up at it, his eyes widened and became oddly dark. "Wait…..there are people inside it! I can see them! They're way up there and they're eating and sleeping and feeling bored. I can see the people driving the plane too! Can you see them?" He looked back down at Honor excitedly, his eyes completely black.
(XD)
"No, I can't see them Oscar, they're too far away." She glanced over at Oscar for a moment, gasping when she saw his eyes and having to pry her attention back to the road, "Shit! What happened to your eyes? You can actually see that far?"
"Yes, I can see them!…..My eyes?" Oscar peered at his reflection in the truck's side view mirror. "….Huh. I dunno, that's weird. Oh, they're going back to normal now." He blinked rapidly. "I guess I couldn't really see the people. Just sort of….feel them. You mean you can't do that too?"
(Off to bed, seeya tomorrow!)
(See ya tomorrow! goodnight!)
"No, that's something that no human can do," She replied, trying to laugh away the shock and confusion from what just happened, "None of our eyes turn black either. That's really not normal." Honor shook her head and focused on the road again though, not looking at him again.
"Oh." Oscar paused, beginning to notice Honor's slight discomfort. "Wait, did I…..scare you just now? I….I didn't mean to…."
She shrugged, still not looking at him as she answered, "Well..yeah, that did scare me. It's alright though, you're fine, It just shocked me." As long as he didn't make a habit of having his eyes turn black, she wouldn't be too scared, most likely it was a side effect of whatever powers he had. That was something that everyone knew, that they all had powers.
"Sorry." Oscar looked away, rubbing at his eyes as if irritated by them. "….Are we almost to the store now?"
"A few more minutes, then we'll be there," She replied, letting them sit in silence for a few seconds before turning her radio on and listening to whatever country song was playing. At this point she wasn't really listening to the words, just driving and trying to guess what Oscar's powers were.
Oscar eyed the radio curiously, and after a minute he reached out and started fiddling with the tuning knob. "This is cool….it's like talking, but prettier. What does it mean? Who's saying the words?"
Honor didn't know how to properly explain a radio, but she did try her best to answer his questions, "That's someone singing, I'm not sure what singer it is specifically, but they sing songs. Do you know what those are?"
"Songs are something to do with music, right?" Oscar replied vaguely. "I learned about that in the dictionary, but I didn't really understand the point of it. Do people just make sngs because they sound nice, or is there more to it?"
(gtg for a bit, seeya)
(See ya!)
"Yes, songs have to do with music, and no, people don't just make songs because they sound nice," She explained, turning into the parking lot of the store and driving around while looking for a parking spot, "There are tons of reasons why people make songs. They want to, or it means something to them. It could tell a story, or yes, they could make it just to make something that sounds nice."
"Huh…." Oscar continued listening with interest. "I'm hearing a lot of stuff about 'love'. Is that all the singers care about?"
Honor shook her head, then paused and shrugged, "No..well, now yes, most songs are based off of love or relationships, they used to sing about other things to, like the land or stories from the singers childhood. Those songs have faded away more often than not though, with love songs becoming popular."
"Weird. Doesn't seem all that special to me." Oscar listened to the song for another minute, then sat back and glanced out the window. "Oh, we're here. Is this the place with shoes?"
"Yes, this is the place with the shoes," She replied, smiling and shutting off her car. They were outside a small but busy mall a few towns over, where there were shoe places that he could try on several pairs and decide between.
Oscar nodded and hopped out of the car, scanning the sunny parking lot with interest. "There are so many other cars here. And people everywhere." He paused. "Most of them will ignore us, right? We won't have to talk to very many of them or be close to them?"
Honor locked her car behind herself as they got out, starting towards the building with him at her side, "Most of them will ignore us yes, and no we won't have to talk to almost any of them, but they will be walking around around us, so don't be scared. I'll be with you the whole time."
"Okay…" Oscar touched his bandaged head self-consciously. "I'm ready, then. Are you going to get new shoes too, Honor?"
"No, I'm not," She replied, shaking her head while she led him into the mall, "Tell me if you start to get overwhelmed by the amount of people."
(I gotta head to bed but I'll drop this here before I go)
"I will." Oscar followed her and immediately started looking every which way as he tried to take in all the sights and sounds inside the building. For the most part he seemed to be handling the commotion okay, although he seemed much more distracted and vigilant now. "Um….I'll follow you."
(oke! Goodnight!)
She nodded and immediately started watching out for Oscar wandering off at all as she led him through the people and to the shoe store. This wasn't a giant mall, with only one story of shops, but it still got heavy use, which was clear from the amount of people in the mall walking around.
Oscar did his best to keep the busy environment from getting to him, and after a few minutes he discovered that he could keep himself feeling grounded by reading the various signs and posters as they passed them. "All this isn't just for shoes, is it? It seems like there's a lot of other stuff here."
"No, there's lots of stores in here, only a few that sell shoes though." Honor pointed to the shoe store she was leading him too, "That's where we're going, to pick a good pair of shoes out for you. After we find out what size shoe you wear."
"Oh, okay." Oscar seemed relieved to hear that the task was fairly straightforward, and stepped boldly into the shoe store. "How do we find out my shoe size?"
(Me: scrambling to search up average men's shoe sizes lol)
(Edit: He's a size nine I guess XD)
