Fox is asleep, snoring. There seems to be someone watching them.
(Does/Should Melanie notice this?)
(Yeah.)
(Sadly I think I know who it is…if it's not fog-man)
"Hm? Hello?" Melanie says, only half awake. She suppresses a yawn and stands, clutching her shoulder, turning to face the viewer. "Who are you?" Melanie tried to keep calm and be bold, but she had to bite her lip to keep herself from cowering.
(You don't :P)
They watch her, keeping their distance. "It's not important to know who I am…"
"But everyone's important…that's what he said," Melanie gestured to Fox silently, "at least, he says I am, and even though I doubt his words, it's nice to pretend like they are true." Melanie hesitated before taking a small step back, glancing at the floor.
They take a quick glance at Fox, then turn back to Melanie. They step forward. "How you two get down here? I thought this place was impossible to get in and out of."
I-we fell…I-I didn't mean to disturb you. I'm sorry. The floor-it gave way, and…I'm sorry." Melanie was slightly scared of the being, not knowing what it'd do to her.
"It… fell?" They look and notice the rubble. "Geez. Well anyway, welcome to the old labs, or as I call it, my eternal prison. And don't worry about bothering me, it gives me something to do."
"Uh…h-hi. I-I'm Melanie…Mel for short. Um…I'm kind of insane, and, well…he isn't, I don't think…" Melanie was a mix of flustered, worried, and nervous.
"You can call me Reign, and I'm a bit different myself. I suffer from Dissociative identity disorder, so if I change personalities and act different, and I am sorry about that. I know one of my personalities can be quite, harmful, at times. I won't try to harm you though." Reign has a slight smirk on.
"Reign…huh. Cool… How-how long have you been stuck here?" Melanie seemed cautious, but liked the company of Reign.
(I'm sorry I'm not writing a super-long essay, I don't have many ideas rn)
Reign shrugs. "I don't know anymore… lost track of time a long while ago. Probably more or less a couple of years. At least I have some guests now."
(It's fine :P)
"U-uh, wh-what does that mean?" Melanie's voice squeaked near the end, and her eyes were darting, looking for a place to hide if things went wrong.
"The guests are you two. The first people I've seen in a long time." Reign sweeps a bit of hair out of his face. "I mean this place isn't the greatest, hell, most of it is falling apart, or already fallen apart."
"U-huh…yeah. Well…I'd better get going. I don't want to disturb you any further…" Melanie walked away shyly, keeping Reign within her sight.
"Like I said, I don't mind if you disturb me, but that's your decision. And also, don't forget your friend." Reign lets her walk off, and creeps back into the shadows.
Melanie turned to where Reign's voice came from. "He's asleep. I'm watching over him. That's enough said about that." Melanie turned back around and sat next to Fox, hugging her knees close to her chest, her eyes glancing about, never resting in one spot for more than a few seconds.
"That's kind enough, I must really get going now. Nice to meet you though." Without another word, Reign walks off.
Melanie had to literally think that she didn't want to fall asleep to at least make a small effort towards the cause, but it didn't prove worthy. In the matter of half an hour, she was in a fetal position on her side, snoring ever so lightly.
A few hours later, Fox wakes up, and stretches.
Melanie seems to still be asleep, her face leaning towards Fox, and she's hugging herself lightly, looking almost peaceful, as if there was nothing to fear.
"Cute." Fox finishes his stretching, and leans against the wall.
"M… Not cute… I'm Melanie…" She mumbles in her sleep, and manages to fold her hands into one another.
Fox chuckles a bit. "You are cute, ya butt."
"I hate you…" Melanie winces as she gets up. "I'm not cute," Melanie says with a yawn, hoping to prove a point.
"Your still not changing my mind." Fox chuckles.
"You're still an ass, believe it or not." Melanie scooted away from him, moreover with agitation than fear in her eyes.
