Melanie looks up to Met, "What's your name? I think I told you mine…"
Melanie looks up to Met, "What's your name? I think I told you mine…"
Met glanced at her after zoning out. “I’m Met. Patient 32. I don’tnthink I know yours.”
Fox's head slips off of Melanie's shoulder, he hits his head on the floor and wakes up, jerking up back to a semi sitting position.
"Oh. Sorry. I'm Melanie. Patient 45, I believe. I got in here for seeing things. Unreal things, of course. My parents sent me here when I was 5, and I think the doctors gave up on me. I think they wanted me to be…left for dead, I think that's what the term is?"
Fox thinks for a second, and nods.
“Oh. That’s sad. I’m sorry. I was sent in here because I kept crying. And. I wouldn’t change my clothes. The doctors always ask me why and I tell them what Mum used to say. Good boys never change their clothes.”
You can tell Fox really wants to tell their side, but can't. They just look at the floor, their breathing becomes a bit shaky
"Where is she? Do you know? Does she worry about you? I hope she does. I know mine does, or did, I don't know…" Melanie thinks, and sighs, "Sometimes I think we were meant to die. To just exist, and then not. I'm not talking about hurting myself, but if you think about it that way, there's no purpose to existence if we're all meant to die…"
“She got arrested. Then she got shocked on a shock chair,” Met said softly, looking away again at the corner. “I don’t think she does. She disn’t like me. I liked her, though. But she wasn’t very nice.” Hisnresponse felt tiny and soft compared to her long spreel.
Fox covers their face, trying not remember. They don't want to remember. They starting crying…
"Hm, that sounds…sad. I don't know what some of those words mean, I mean, I was never taught to read or write, but I have an imagination, I think that's what the doctors call it? A made up world, all inside my head. All I have to do is think, and my thoughts run wild!" Melanie seems neutral, not too happy or sad.
(To Fox)
"Are you.. okay?" Melanie's voice was concerned.
Met didn’t notice Fox’s crying as he just sat there. He didn’t have imagination anymore. The scientists said it had been crushed out of him, leaving him blank and empty. He liked to fall in it a lot, hearing the distant, loud echoes of it. Sometimes shadows came and greeted him outside of his realm, which was nice. They were always very kind to him.
"I wonder…do you think we could be friends? Real friends?"
Fox stops crying, their breath still shaky and hallow. Fox stops covering their face. He nods to both questions.
Jax climbs up onto the tallest thing he can find, always feeling safer when he was higher than his enemies. It gives you the advantage, Sissy said that. He remembered, his paranoid eyes still jumping from thing to thing even with the fond memory.
"We should find the other boy. Jax, I think… I don't want them to take him. He seems scared, but I want to help him…" Melanie gets up slowly and, without looking back, walks to the vent Jax went into. "You went into the tunnel? I'll make sure you don't get lost…" Melanie attempts to get into the vent (which she calls a tunnel because her Schizophrenia is acting up, fog-man could also appear if you want, Crisp. Crisp, you could also allow it so that maybe Melanie does see monsters, usually in cramped/dark areas).
The fog person appears again. "Don't injure yourself now." Pointing to the sharp parts on the vent cover.
"But…I'll be fine. I'm going to save the boy from the monsters in there," Melanie points to the vent. "I don't want him to die or get lost, heaven forbid he gets captured." Melanie struggles to get up into the vent, but she gets up, scraping her side a little.
"You did good, go find him. If you want." He points down the vent, then disappears.
Melanie crawls forward, having to squint to see in the vents. "Where did you go? It's dangerous to travel in dark places…There could be monsters, Jax. Why did you go in here? In the tunnel?" she whispered to herself.
When Melanie gets to the split of left and straight, the fog appears again, gesturing for her to go straight.
Melanie nods, and heads straight. Jax, why did you leave? Were you that scared?
Melanie eventually comes to the same place where Jax went down, the cover is already open.
Melanie gets out, bumping her bad shoulder, and winces a bit. "Jax? Are you okay? Did the monsters get you?" Melanie says before she sees him. "Hello!" she waves, her voice calm.
