(I kinda guess it's more modern? I mean, this rp is intended to be without prompt, a "we'll see how it goes" kind of rp, y'know? but if you want a prompt to go off i could probably find one on pinterest somewhere)

(Okay well I'm gonna use a character that's like the dad friend of everyone and is flexible whatever setting it may end up being. He's also the most sarcastic person you may ever meet.)

(just reposting this here so the new ones see it)
The child trembled, partly because of the cold, but also in fear. Carrying a suitcase of essentials and a backpack carrying similar items, they'd been prepared. Looking over their shoulder, the fire blazed brightly, and the smoke was highlighted against the shade of the sky, however dark. They scurried into a nearby alleyway and hurried to prepare themself. They slathered makeup all over their body, to hide unwanted blemishes and change the looks, even dying their hair lavender. Finally, an hour and a half later, the child walked into the store and came out with a Gatorade. They spotted you from across the street and studied you a bit, but quickly looked away, trying not to act suspicious. They didn't want to have a run-in with the authorities again, and the others seemed quite willing to do so, though they hoped their disguise was enough.

(Cool, everyone meet Kye. Some of you may or may not know him. He's also either a you love him to death, or you seriously want to kill him type of person, the choice is up to you.)
Kye watched the child from across the street, not really interested in what they were doing, but bored nonetheless. He held a styrofoam cup with some steaming coffee in it. It was a quiet day for the most part and nothing stood out really as odd. Aside from the kid that had just come out of the store. They seemed almost skiddish and jumpy. Like something was wrong, or they were avoiding something.

Her dirty appearance had luckily, been covered by all the makeup, and her roughly cut hair waved in the light breeze in the air. Lil' Ava saw a dark figure heading her way, though her common sense told her it was more than likely just a stranger, like it'd been the last hundred or so times, her brain panicked and she darted across the street, too aware of the car horns that went off as they screeched to a stop. "Sorry," she muttered to them under her breath.

Kye blinked as the kid raced across the street. He was wearing black jeans and a red sweatshirt. His hair was white, but not because of his age, and his eyes were dark purple. He moved onto the sidewalk where he could see a little better. Part of him said to go and make sure the kid was okay, because she looked like she needed help.

Her small black eyes darted back and forth looking for danger, and as her fear resided, they faded to a dark gold. Incidentally, she happened to be walking the direction of Kye. Her oversized tattered black coat waved in the wind, sending a chill down her spine. Shivering, Ava just wanted for her life as it was to end. Why did it have to be me? Why me? Why not Lily? she thought bitterly. Lily, her fraternal twin, the perfect twin, was the loved one. They sent her off on her own with a distant family member, but she knew, she just knew they planned to get rid of her. No, it failed. I survived. I still live, her eyes hardened, emotionless now. She straightened her back and walked to the wall of the nearest building, a candy shop she found as she looked up to see the sign on the building. Sliding down the wall, her back to the wall, she sat down, and rested her head on her knees and wrapped her arms around her legs.

Kye didn't move for a moment, then he walked over to the girl. "You okay?" his voice was a little gruff sounding, but kind.He was still holding his coffee, standing a few feet from her, as to not scare her. He was likely to scare her anyways, but giving her a little space would hopefully help. He also was less likely to be seen as a threat to this kid by any on lookers.

Ava looked up at Kye, her eyes wide. She blinked, then looked away. She had grown used to life on the streets. She, more often than not needed to accept help from strangers. No longer did she jump at the sudden noises of those asking if she was okay. No longer did she recoil in fear at the insignificant, silly fears such as spiders. "I- no. Could I seek refuge at your place for a while? If not, I'm awfully sorry to bother you sir…" she looked up into his dark eyes, pulling out her trademark puppy eyes. True, they only worked half the time, but… it was worth a try.

Kye gave a gentle smile. "Now what is a lovely young lady like you running from?" Kye asked holding out his hand and offering to help her up. "I have no problem letting you stay with me so long as I get to know who I may have turn up on my front step."

@saor_illust school

"Ava," she said in the clearest voice she could. She found she had trouble with others sometimes mis-hearing her name. Somehow, some could mis-hear Ava as Carmen. Strange. (She doesn't know what teasing means XD) "I need to stay hidden. I have no trouble with the authorities… other than the fact that I have no ID." She took Kye's hand. "And as long as I'm staying with you, what would you like me to call you, sir?" She'd also found, that some preferred that she called them sir or madam.

@Echo_6 group

"Kye is fine, or whatever nickname you may or may not come up with," Kye pulled her to her feet and tipped his head indicating for her to come with him. "There is someone across the street that has been watching you since you crossed. We should leave before they come over and start asking questions."

@saor_illust school

"O-oh alright then," she replied and followed Kye. Dammit you tripped over your words! When was the last time you did that? When you were seven freaking years old. You are not seven anymore. Stuttering is a sign of weakness. C'mon, you know better! she berated herself internally. But she couldn't help herself, she glanced over across the street and her gaze instantly landed on the man, locking eyes with him. A chill shivering down her spine brought her back to reality and she hurried along, yanking her gaze back to the sidewalk she was on, her hands stuffed in pockets.

@Echo_6 group

"Try not to look back, you'll attract more unwanted attention," Kye's eyes were fixed forward. "If you need to know how close someone is to you turn a sudden corner and use your peripheral vision. So how long have you been on the run?" He walked with confidence, tossing his coffee cup into a trash as they went past.

@saor_illust school

"Eleven years, give or take a few," Ava replied, sighing. She adjusted the weight of her backpack on her shoulder and continued walking, a little faster though, she had slowed slightly down unknowingly.

@Echo_6 group

That's a long time to be alone," Kye commented taking a left and crossing the street. He'd grabbed Ava's arm briefly to let her know where he was going. "Well good news, whoever was watching you at the street corner isn't following by foot at least. I think it's safe to say he won't be bothering us for a bit." Kye started more towards his place. He always seemed to be helping runaways. He'd probably hit the governments watch lists because of some of the people he'd helped. And yet he didn't seem to mind to much.
