Kye had a small smile on his face as he followed.
They're all so innocent.
Okay, these kids are a lot of things, but innocent isn't one of them.
Comparatively speaking.
Fair enough.
You seem to like them quite a bit, I've noticed.
Who wouldn't? I mean, we have a badass girl who deserves a family, a little boy that has stolen all our hearts, a fireball of a guy, and a ninja girl. Seems like a good family to me.
"Yes, that's true. But we don't have much time to dwell on small subjects like this, let's just drop it for now," Ava sighed too, and continued on.
(Kain is smol bean who loves people but has a few issues)
Kain spoke up just a little bit "Is it a bad time to say that i can summon spirits?"
"Bad? No that's pretty awesome kid!" Ethyn said, reaching over to give Kain a fist bump.
Ava smiled, "No kid, it's not at all. In fact, they could give us some useful information," she remarked. Ethyn was right, that was pretty awesome, as he put it.
They reached the roof and Kye took up the lead again. Thankfully most of the roofs were connected, and if they weren't connected they were close enough together that even Kain could jump them if he had to. Kye glanced back at the people following him and had to do a double take. For a moment he thought he'd seen different people. But looking again showed only the four following him.
You still miss them.
Shut up.
You can lie to yourself but not to me.
I said, shut up.
Kain returned the fist bump and smiled summoning a small face and whispered a question in its ear
Ethyn watched the spirit with interest. "Fascinating."
The spirit nodded and darted away quickly and scouted the area then came back reporting that the cops were catching up
"Huh, can others see it?" Ava asked, wondering if it wasn't just them who could see the spirit.
Kye slowed down a little to make sure everyone was close enough for him to protect. KNowing that the people they didn't want to have catching up, were catching up, caused him to worry a bit. So he made sure they were al close enough for him to protect.
Don't be slowing down. Be speeding up, and get the others to speed up with you.
We're fine. I don't want them to start worrying because I start worrying.
If you don't start worrying more you are going to get everyone killed.
….shut up.
No, I really mean it. If you do not start actually being hard on them and getting them to where you all need to be, they are all going to die.
Shut up!
"If Crowley and the others are catching up, we should probably start running." Ethyn suggested, suddenly frowning. "I do not want to go back in a cell." He looked down and added quietly "Or to my family."
"Mood," Ava replied, mostly referring to the last part of Ethyn's dialogue, but at the same time, referring to the first part as well.
Ethyn gave her a sideways grin. "Bad family as well?"
Ava took a deep breath and only said, "…you could say that."
Ethyn looked down. "Yeah. I could."
Kye paused for a moment, then he glanced back at the people following him. "Come on, we should pick it up a bit. We just need to get across this roof and the next before we can get down."
"Agreed also sorry I was talking to the pixie and she said that they are still confused by the fireworks but they started asking the crowd if they saw us" Kain looked around at the little bunch of friends he had made a smile tugged at the corners of his mouth
"So the fireworks worked! Not my usual style but hey. Dude you're pretty smart!" Ethyn said to Kye with admiration.
Kye didn't reply, but he gave a half smile to Ethyn. People were always telling him, he was smart. He didn't personally agree. He just did what needed to be done. But he also knew that if he tried to argue against it, he wasn't gonna get far. So he didn't. "Just on the other side of this building then we can start down."
Kain tapped Ava's shoulder "Can you put me down please?" he looked around at the group but waited on Ava to put him down
Ava nodded and put Kain down, looking at Kye for what they were going to do next.
"What now?" Ethyn asked, leaning over the edge of the roof to look at the ground.
"Well I'm going to guess that you aren't going to want to jump, so I suggest we take the ladder," Kye gestured to the ladder that was hung over the side of the building. It was all the way up and didn't reach the fire escape, so Kye walked over and looked at it for a moment. Then he jumped over the side twisted around and caught the bottom of the ladder. It jerked under his weight and slid down to the fire escape taking Kye with it. He rubbed his hands together and looked up at the others. "Coming?"
"Well maybe you don't want to jump…" Ethyn said, stepping dramatically off the edge and landing squarely on the ground floors below.
