"I can barely make a bowl of cereal without catching myself on fire, " he said, face serious. Though, he was fighting back a smile.
"I can barely make a bowl of cereal without catching myself on fire, " he said, face serious. Though, he was fighting back a smile.
"I highly doubt you can catch fire while making cereal," She replied, trying and failing to hold back a small and light laugh.
He broke out in a grin and laughed as well. "I have my ways," he said with a wink. "Never underestimate my abilities to screw everything up."
She laughed again, "Again, I highly doubt you screw everything up." Her eyes flicked around the woods before settling on him, a glimmer in her eye showing her happiness and amusement.
His face seemed to soften as he looked at her. He gestured to the woods. "Feel free to come here whenever you want. Kim likes the company, and Dani seems to like you."
“I’ll keep that in mind,” She said, nodding, “I like it here, and Dani is nice.” Jynna reached over and patted the mare’s neck.
He smiled as the mare nickered at the touch, seeming to enjoy it. "For once," he said jokingly referring to Jynna's comment about Dani.
She smiled and patted Dani's neck again, looking around the woods, "She's always nice, you just don't understand her."
He snorted. "You make it sound like she's in her emo phase."
"Maybe she is, you'll never know," She replied, grinning as she rolled her eyes and sat back up straight in the saddle.
He chuckled and looked back at Jynna again. "Feeling up to a faster pace?" he asked her.
Jynna nodded and nudged Dani in the side lightly to get her to move into a faster gait, "Of course I am."
Rhydar smirked and urged Thunder faster, the stallion eager to do so. "How 'bout a race?" he mused nonchalantly. "Horses know where they're going."
"What does winner get?" She asked. Racing sounded quite fun and she wasn't going to say no, she just wanted to see what she could win when she beat him.
"Hmmmm," he tilted his head, a wicked gleam in his eye as he looked at Jynna. "Whatever they want."
She rolled her eyes, "That's not specific enough." Dani seemed eager to go faster and she had to tug on the reigns to keep her from taking off before the race started.
He feigned hurt. "How dare you shoot down the opportunity to get whatever you want." He pouted, sticking out his bottom lip, then huffed. "Fine. Any ideas, Princess?"
"I don't have any ideas, I just don't want to be dared to do something extremely embarrassing with the 'whatever they want' choice if I loose," She replied, a light grin on her face, "Otherwise we can just figure something out when the race is over, Prince."
"When the race is over," he said, bringing Thunder right next to Dani. His green eyes were bright as he looked at Jynna. "Ready?" He was determined to win this one.
Jynna nodded and the grin widened, "Whenever you are." She shifted around in the saddle for a moment and hoped Dani was faster than Thunder, otherwise she'd be in trouble.
Rhydar grinned as well. "Go!" He flicked the reins, and Thunder needed no more encouragement as the stallion took off at full speed.
She laughed as she nudged Dani's side, holding on tight to the saddle as she bolted forward. The mare seemed quite eager to race and Jynna just held on, hoping she knew the way.
The horses wound through the woods, following the nearly invisible path that cut through the trees. Dani and Thunder were neck and neck more often than not, and Rhydar was getting worried he'd lose this one too.
Jynna had no clue where they were going as they went deeper into the woods during the race, her gaze focused on the ground in front of Dani to make sure she wouldn’t trip or stumble on a rock. Thunder and Rhydar seemed to be inching the slightest of leads away from Dani, it was barely noticeable though and she hoped it was just in her head.
The ends of the trails were nearing, and Rhydar hunched down and urged Thunder just a little faster. It seemed he was just barely in the lead, but that didn't mean Dani would put on a sudden burst of speed and win. The path wound around, heading back to Kim's cottage. He glanced back at Jynna when he thought about what he wanted if he won.
