"Well, we're going to be getting more souls in today. Perhaps you'll get to meet one of the other gods." Zia, who had been curled up on the pillow, stood and stretched, stepping over to Nix and batting at his nose.
"Well, we're going to be getting more souls in today. Perhaps you'll get to meet one of the other gods." Zia, who had been curled up on the pillow, stood and stretched, stepping over to Nix and batting at his nose.
"Mm… maybe." Nix flicked and ear and stretched out his paws, placing one on Zia's face to keep her away from him.
Halm chuckled softly at the cats, patting Zia's head.
"You ready to get up?" He asked Cas.
"Sure." Cas yawned and stretched, but didn't move off of Halm. He picked up Nix so he could carry him around.
Zia protested loudly when she was left out, so Halm picked her up in one hand and set her in between his collar and neck as she had been before. Then he picked Cas up, swinging his legs off of the bed and standing.
Cas held firmly, but gently to Nix as Halm lifted him. "What are we having for breakfast today, Halm?" He asked.
"Waffles. We need to get going pretty soon here to pick the souls up on time." He carried Cas off to the kitchen, pulling out the waffle iron and beginning to make the batter.
Cas nodded, adjusting his grip on Nix. "Are you gonna put fancy stuff on or in them?"
"Depends. There anything you want on our in them?" Halm asked. He hummed a little as he continued.
"Uh… I dunno… butter?" Cas suggested. "I didn't really have anything particular in mind."
Halm chuckled a little.
"Butter it is." He poured the batter into the waffle iron, closing it and waiting for it to cool.
"This only makes one at a time, so you're gonna get your food first."
"Why? You're bigger than me; you probably need to eat more." Cas watched the waffle iron curiously.
"Well, if you eat this first one I could keep cooking, so you don't have to wait on me." Halm smiled.
"But, I-…" Cas paused, unable to come up with a good argument. "I guess…"
Halm chuckled a little. Having already turned the waffle, he opened it, pulling the perfectly golden waffle out and setting it on a plate. He carried Cas, the waffle, and a stick of butter on a plate to the table, setting all down before walking over and bringing a bottle of high grade Canadian Maple syrup.
"Thanks, Halm." Cas didn't start eating until Halm had walked off to make another waffle. He put some syrup on it- a luxury he normally didn't have access to- and took a bite, humming in satisfaction.
"You're welcome!" Halm said happily, glancing back as he started cooking his own waffle. He smiled, glad he was able to make Cas feel good.
Cas made sure to pace himself while eating so he wouldn't just be sitting awkwardly while Halm ate. He shoved another forkful of waffle into his mouth.
After a few minutes, Halm made his way over with his waffle on a plate, sitting down across from Cas with a grin.
"Is it good?" he asked.
"Mhmm. Great as always, Halm." Cas smiled through his mouthful of waffle.
Halm smiled, beginning to eat.
"Thanks." He was in a good mood; he always was on delivery day.
Cas nodded and kept eating, soon finishing his waffle. He stood up and went to go wash his plate.
Halm finished his soon after, standing next to Cas as he rinsed his plate off.
"We'll need to get going in a few minutes," he said.
"Alrighty." Cas picked up Nix again and held him close. "I'm ready whenever you are."
Halm nodded, finishing up with his plate. He wiped off his hands, picking up Cas with a smile.
"I think you're going to like the goddess we're going to," he said.
