Silver rolled his eyes, but let the ice die away.
"I mean, I don't mean to make you upset… But maybe the next one you can use your frost to cool it down…." Lee put the weight on his back foot and leaned against the counter. I'm sorry…
"Hey I'm not upset." Said Silver, grinning at him, "I actually prefer not to use my ice powers abyway cause they're so weak."
"I bet if you tried you could make them more powerful," Lee said, smiling back sheepishly. "Unless that's just the way you are…. Which is totally fine with me," He added softly.
"Downfall of being a hybrid." Said Silver, shrugging it off. "I take after my mom more, so I'm more of a Luna than a Blizzaron… which means my ice auras are weaker."
"That's what I figured," Lee said, biting his lip a little. "You did tell me that at one point, I feel like…" He leaned over and touched a careful finger on the cooling cake. "And I think they might be done!"
Silver grinned, "that's great! Shall we ice them?"
"Of course!" Lee snatched a cake stand from the cabinet and put it on the table, as well as carrying the cakes as well. "If you can grab the frosting that would be good…" He began carefully taking the slabs out and placing them on a rack and then on the stand. This will be amazing….
Silver smiled, bringing the icing over, "this already looks good." He said happily.
"Oh, yes…" Lee put one of the cakes on the stand. "The first thing is to frost the top of this one before we put the second layer on it and then frost the whole thing. Do you wanna try first? Or do you want to watch me?"
Silver handed him the bowl, "I'm more afraid I'll eat it as is." He said laughing.
"Honestly, I could too, but I bet it would taste better with it on…." Lee grabbed the bowl and used a frosting knife to slap some on the cake. "Then you just need to spread an even layer on this one…."
Soon the cake was coated. "And you place the one on top and frost the last one…." He put the frosting on top and the sides. In no time, it was all frosted.
"There! But we're not done yet…."
"What more can we do with it?" Asked Silver,
Lee got up and reached into the pantry. They have to be around here, or this will be just a yellow cake… He finally found them and took the bag to the table. He put them down – a bag of chocolate chips. "This cake isn't complete without chocolate chips! That's practically why it's called a sunflower cake…" He opened up the bag and poured half of it into a shallow bowl. "Because with these we'll make the center and the petals of the flower…. If that makes sense." He grinned, a bit sheepish.
Silver laughed, "makes perfect sense to me!"
Lee took the frosting knife and wiped it clean with a finger. He traced a circle around the center of the cake and made petal-like shapes around it. "And all we have to do is fill the center and put them where I carved lines." He licked his frosted finger and used his other hand to pick out some chips, and he began putting them on. "I can do this side, and you can do the other half."
Silver nodded grabbing some chocolate chips and following his instructions. Occasionally he popped one in his mouth with a grin.
Lee put them flat side down on the cake, pressing them in gently. He ate some too, once in a while. "If we don't stop eating these, I think we'll have to use the whole bag!" He laughed, continuing to work.
Silver copied him, "I think we might" he said laughing.
"Who knows…."
By the time they were finished, it was late, and they used the entire bag of chocolate ships since they ate so many.
It had the pattern of a dark-centered sunflower with large outlined petals. "Perfect!…. You wanna eat it now?" Lee asked with a devious look.
"Absolutely!" Said Silver, still wide awake despite how late it was.
Lee got up and grabbed a knife from the drawer, dropping everything else off in the sink and throwing away the bag. He came back with two small plates and a cutting knife. "Admire it before it gets cut," Lee said quickly. "Because you'll never see it the same again!"
Silver laughed, "It almost looks too good to eat!" he said, putting emphasis on the 'almost'.
"Well, we baked it to eat it, so, say goodbye to the picture-perfect sunflower!" He joked, cutting into it. The moist cake was amazing to watch as he cut out a piece.
Silver licked his lips, "Stars that smells good." he said
