Wilhelm studied the drawing, nodding along as Connor spoke. “Fond memories, I assume?” He smiled softly.
Wilhelm studied the drawing, nodding along as Connor spoke. “Fond memories, I assume?” He smiled softly.
Connor nodded. "Mhm." he replied. He leafed through his sketchbook, pulling out a photograph. "This is him when he were about th' age I just showed yeh a drawing of." he held up the photo. It was older, grainy, but it was of a young man with light, crazy blonde hair and a broad smile.
“..Wow. He certainly matches with your description of him, with the stories and all. I can see him doing everything that you described.” Wilhelm studied the photograph. “You captured him well, I’m impressed.”
Connor smiled happily. "Yeah. Thanks." he replied, setting the sketchbook down. "Of course, when ah knew him, he was older. And wrinkled. And retired."
“Well, of course. I find that that’s when most people tend to be in their prime, though. Not physically, but..” Wilhelm shrugged. “I’m not sure where I was going with that. I mean to say that by that age, most people tend to have become more.. wizened? No, that’s not the right word.. You understand what I mean, though. I find that we have the most to learn from the oldest people.” Wilhelm drummed his fingers on the table, slouching forwards just a bit. “Does that make sense?”
(I gtg to bed soon)
Connor laughed. "Ah get it." he replied, looking at Wilhelm. "Really, ah do." he smiled at the German boy, running a finger along his sketchbook cover for a moment.
(alright! i probably should too, lmao)
Wilhelm let out a sigh of relief. “Good, good.” He glanced around the cafeteria, which was beginning to empty at that point. “Should we go back soon? I imagine it’s getting relatively late, given how quickly people are beginning to go.”
Connor smiled a little, and put his sketchbook away. He picked up Claude's papers, holding them carefully. "Uhm…do you know where we can put Claude's things?" He asked.
“I’ll take them to his dorm. He keeps his room pretty much locked, but I think I can slide them under his door.” Wilhelm yawned, standing up. “It’ll only take me a minute or so.”
Connor nodded. "Ah cleaned th' blood off as best ah can." He said, holding them out to Wilhelm. "Bu' some o' the stains are permanent."
“Honestly, that’s better than I would’ve done. He’ll be grateful.” Wilhelm smiled, taking the stack. “I’ll see you in a few minutes, then?”
Connor nodded, adjusting his bag. "Yeah. See you." He replied. He shot Wilhelm a quick smile, and headed towards the dorms.
Wilhelm came into the dorm after about ten minutes, dropping onto his bed. He yawned, loosening his tie. “Hey.” He dug through his bag, pulling out a textbook and cracking it open. “So, update on Claude— he’s fine, his nose is just fucked up right now.”
Connor had already changed into his pajamas while Wilhelm was gone, and was laying on his stomach reading when the German boy came in. He looked up. "Hm? Oh. Tha's good." He replied with a soft smile.
“Yeah, it is.” Wilhelm smiled a bit, pulling out his pajamas. He held his pajama shirt in his teeth as he unbuttoned his uniform shirt, changing rather quickly. “What’re you reading?” He glanced at Connor’s book, tilting his head as he tugged at a thread on his collar.
Connor looked at his book again when Wilhelm began to change. "Oh. It's the one I borrowed from the library yesterday. The Huntingtower." He smiled a little.
“Oh, yeah, yeah, I remember now.” Wilhelm flopped onto his bed, sitting up a smidge as he opened the book he’d been reading. “God, I need to remember to check my mail tomorrow.. It’s been a while, and I’m expecting a response anyway.” His voice dropped into a near mumble close the end, almost as if he were talking to himself.
Connor glanced up at the words. He frowned a little bit, but didn't ask. He wasn't sure that it was any of his business. He ran a hand through his curly hair. There was still paint clinging to his bottom lip.
Wilhelm rubbed his face, looking over at Connor. “You‘ve still got a little paint..” He pointed to his own bottom lip, smiling softly. “Right here.” The boy sat up, leaning further against his wall and continuing to read.
Connor wrinkled his nose. "Ah know." he replied with a soft chuckle. "Ah'll just leave it fer now, though." he ran his fingers through his hair.
“Sure, sure.” Wilhelm set down his book, flopping onto his back and covering his eyes with his forearms. “I think I’m going to head to sleep now, today was.. draining. I’ll see you tomorrow, then?”
"Yeah. Good night." Connor replied. He reached over, turning down the lights, but leaving them on bright enough so he could still read for a while. "Ah'm sorry if ah…y'know, pushed anythin' durin' dinner."
“You didn’t push anything, it’s alright.” Wilhelm fell asleep on top of his covers within just a few minutes, his arms still folded over his face.
"Okay." Connor glanced over at him after a moment, raising an eyebrow at the fact that Wilhelm wasn't under the covers. After a while, he sighed, and spread a blanket over his roommate's sleeping body, then went to bed himself, turning out the lights.
(ts to morning?)
