Autumn stretched out a bit and nodded to the music. She chewed on her lip as she listened.
It wasn't much of a nod-along, it was more like a sit and listen song. She was soon able to identify that Alex’s pain (which was clear in his deep, throaty singing voice) wasn’t fake.
(I didn't know what to write. Lol.)
As she listened, Autumn wondered who the song was about. It was obviously not just written from nothing, there had to have been something behind it.
(.p.)
Before she could figure anything out, the song ended. It was only a brief two minutes and thirty-four seconds.
“Yep. That’s it.”
"That was… Wow. That was really good, Alex," Autumn said, looking over at him.
Alex shut the laptop with an impassive face. “Thanks. I tried pretty hard on it.”
"I could tell. It really was amazing," Autumn assured him softly. "…Could– Could I ask something?"
Alex stowed the laptop away again. “Sure. Go ahead.”
"Who was it about?" Autumn asked quietly, her gaze flicking across his face to gauge his reaction.
Alex pursed his lips. “I just wanted to sing.” A very impassive answer.
"…You didn't actually answer my question," Autumn noted quietly.
Alex shrugged. “I just felt like singing, so I sung.”
"So then it's not about anyone?" Autumn asked, not sure if she should feel relieved or not if he said no.
“It… it is.” Alex swallowed a little and twiddled his thumbs.
"Okay… You don't have to tell me who if you don't want to," Autumn said quickly, hoping she wasn't pushing him too far.
Alex nodded. “Do you want to know?”
"…Yes," Autumn admitted, then shrugged. "But you really don't have to tell me."
Alex bit his lip. “You. It was about you.”
Autumn nodded slowly.
"After our fight?" she whispered.
He nodded again. He chewed on his lip some more.
Autumn was silent for a moment, looking down at her hands.
"I'm sorry," she whispered after a while and glanced back up at him.
Alex shrugged. “That was a while back. It doesn’t matter.”
Autumn nodded again, chewing on her lip. "It really was amazing…"
Alex nodded too. “Thanks. I didn’t try much on it, though.”
"Seriously? You sound like you're singing your heart out," Autumn said, scooting closer to him.
