"Because I…" He trailed off. "It's complicated. I just…" He shook his head a little. "Please believe me."
"Because I…" He trailed off. "It's complicated. I just…" He shook his head a little. "Please believe me."
Allie pursed her lips. “Whatever. …I don’t…I’ll try not…to complicate your life again, then.”
"No, that's not what I meant." He replied quickly. "I just…I don't want to hurt you."
Allie nodded, her face closed off. As if she hadn’t heard that before. She was sure he thought was making the right decision, but she didn’t agree with it.
Logan shook his head. "Forget it. You aren't listening anymore." He muttered.
“Fine,” Allie mumbled in response. If he was going to treat her like some fragile little girl then she didn’t want to have any sort of relationship anyway…right?
Logan sighed, raking a hand through his hair. "I'm sorry." He mumbled.
Allie glanced at him, her anger melting a bit at his sincerity. “Me too,” she admitted, looking at the ground.
He sighed. "There are things that I haven't… that I can't tell you."
Allie sighed, trying to understand this time. “Okay, I guess I get it…”
"And…" He nodded. "Thank you." You have to be in control. You can't let her get hurt just because you can't control yourself.
She nodded, clearly unhappy but trying to be a better friend, or whatever it was that they were to each other. “You’re welcome…”
He sighed, raking a hand through his hair. "I know you're upset, but I…I don't want you hurt because of something I did."
“I get it,” Allie sighed, glancing away from him. “Let’s just forget about it…okay?” Her voice sounded a bit sad, but she tried not to make him feel guilty, even though she definitely wanted him to.
"I…okay." he replied slowly, looking down at the board again. He chewed on his lower lip a little.
Despite her words, Allie was finding it a bit harder to just forget it than she anticipated. She moved again, but at this point her thoughts were anywhere but the game.
Logan sighed softly, raking his hand through his hair again. Damn. I…I don't know what I want.
Allie kept looking back at him. Why can’t I stop thinking about him, and about that kiss? she wondered, frustrated. She hoped he didn’t notice her unease.
Logan frowned a little, chewing on his lower lip. I don't know what to say. What to do.
Allie started coughing again, her face going pale. Her eyes widened. No…not again!
Logan looked at her worriedly. "You alright?" He asked quickly, eyes flickering as he looked at her.
“I’m—“ she coughed. “Fine, thanks.” She kept coughing for a bit before recovering, her face pale.
Logan watched her, chewing on his lip. "That Hugo kid better hurry with that medication." He muttered, worried for her.
She tried to laugh weakly, the laugh becoming a cough before she swallowed and spoke. “It’ll be okay.”
Just then the two of them heard a knock at the door.
Logan got up. "I'll get it." He went to the door, and opened it. "Hello?" He asked.
