She did the same, ending up two spaces ahead with him with another smirk. “This game is off to a good start.”
She did the same, ending up two spaces ahead with him with another smirk. “This game is off to a good start.”
He rolled his eyes. "Mm." He drew his next card, ending up a few spaces ahead of her.
Then she drew her next card and surpassed him again, a bit amused. “I will win,” she promised.
Logan rolled his eyes, and drew another card. "Hmm. Maybe, maybe not." He replied teasingly.
Allie giggled and pulled another card. She moved in front of him again.
Logan sighed, surveying the board. "Fate gave me a taste of victory, and now she's kicking me in the ass." He muttered.
Allie snickered. “I told you. Beginner’s luck.” She moved forward again.
Logan chuckled softly, and moved for his turn. "Mhm. I guess so." He smiled slightly.
She took her next turn without comment, still winning, at least for now. Their kiss from a few minutes ago still lingered in her mind. Did it mean anything to Logan?
Logan swallowed, keeping his focus on the board. Every time he glanced at her, he remembered the kiss. And…he wasn't sure what that meant.
Allie moved again, glancing up at Logan before looking away. He had made it clear that having ant sort of relationship was a bad idea, but so was everything, it felt like. She tried not to think about how it had felt to be so close to him, but failed.
Logan made his own move, keeping his eyes glued to the board. To the wall, the ceiling, anywhere but her. I don't want to hurt her…
Allie went again, glancing back up at him before looking away again. He was so focused on the board, was he really more invested in a game of Candyland than in her?
Logan cleared his throat softly as he took his turn. I…can't let something like that happen again. I can't.
Allie went again, not even noticing that her lead was growing smaller. She kept thinking back to the kiss. The tension was so thick she could have cut it with a knife, but judging by Logan’s expression, any attempt at a second kiss would probably be met with a push away.
Logan took his next turn, biting his lip. He wanted to kiss her again, but at the same time…he shouldn't. He couldn't. It was a bad idea.
Allie kept playing, not even paying much attention to the game anymore. She could only think about the kiss, but she didn’t know how to break the silence.
He bit his lip, trying to stay focused on the game. He was failing miserably on that count.
Allie moved, then sighed. “Okay, this is just getting awkward. So, I have to ask. Do you, like, hate me now or something?”
Logan looked up. "I…no." he replied slowly. "No, I just…" He shook his head. "I…" He stammered a little, then gave up, shaking his head.
That wasn’t exactly a very convincing answer. “You totally hate me,” she sighed.
"No, I don't. I just…I don't want to hurt you!" He replied. "I don't want…" He raked a hand through his hair.
“You don’t want what?” Allie asked, raising an eyebrow. “I don’t understand….”
"I don't want to hurt you. I don't want everything to go wrong if…if the rest like me decide to actually do something instead of sitting in the atmosphere."
“And how is that your fault?” Allie asked, confused. “Besides, if they do something, I’ll be dead either way.” She laughed hollowly.
